2023- Week 25(June 19- June 25)

Jeff and I saw Footloose at Kensington Theater to support Ashley Romrell in our ward. It was so so cute!

Melinda's kids slept over. They went to a wedding. Melinda broke her foot so now she is on crutches! Her house is too small to use the knee scooter. Brody hung out with Ethan. Brooklyn taught me to make a killer omlet and who can resist this kids face. I love these guys and I am glad Melinda
 brings them over lots.

Mom and I went and did sealings at Oquirrh Mountain. There is a beautiful painting in the waiting room of Christ with a little girl and some chickens. It made me think of when Emily Belle Freeman shared the parable of the chickens (parable of the talents) on Don't Miss This. She said she believes that parable is about ministering. Imagine being given a chicken and burrying it in the earth. It would die. So maybe God gives us people that he wants us to "increase" instead of talents.

My cute cute Jessica was in town this week and she made time to see me. I love her so much. We always pick back up where we left off. She makes me so happy.

Callie Mundy held a pop up sale of all her amazing food at the Ivory Crossing garage sale. Whitney, Ellyn and I grabbed some of her salads and Pride cookie sandwhiches. SO GOOD!

We went out to dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory with Jared and Gillian Lott and Andy and Hollie Tanner. It was great to see them again. We also ran into Troy Hirchi from my work as we were leaving.

The Hughes family came over for Sunday dinner. It was just Greg from his family and also Jenafae was sick. We did tacos again.

2023- Week 24(June 12- June 18)

Jeff's birthday and Father's Day fell this week. We celebrated by going out to The New Thai Cafe for dinner. We got him some golf shirts, Stanley water bottle, golf gift card, book, grass edger- he took this back and we are going to get some smaller tools because he didn't think he would use this. We also got him a Jazz shirt, some Jazz socks, etc. What would we do without Jeff? He is my strength, heart, adventure, patience, hope, spirit, money manager ha ha, partner, hard work and biggest cheerleader. He does so much for us, the ward, his work. He never complains and never stops. He means everything to me and I am so glad he is mine.

I am grateul also for our dads. It wasn't until I became a parent that I realized my parents are real people with their own past traumas, their own weaknesses, strengths and hopes, dreams and desires. They didn't know how to be a parent when we were born and they did the best they knew how to do. They weren't perfect but I know they cared about us. I know they worked hard so we could have what they didn't and I know that most of all they taught us about Jesus Christ and that has made all the difference in our lives. I am especially grateful to Tom this year who values spending time togther, is so generous  and that he knew that taking us to Israel would change us in so many ways.

There was a beautiful rainbow this week and a beautiful sunset.

Malia told us to try the Poppi brand of soda and I thought the Dr. Pepper one was spot on. Jeff thought it was so gross ha ha.

We held our June activity for Activity Days this week. We swam in Shanni's backyard. This will be her last activity as she is moving in a few months into their new house.

Jeff and I went up to Bear Lake to girls camp for the testimony meeting. This year they stayed in a VRBO beautiful big home. I think the girls loved this and not having to sleep in tents. We had taco salads with them and then the meeting. Jeff asked me to share a message and I talked about divine DNA and how all the things about us that we might hate can turn into our greatest strengths if we trust in God and remember that he has made us exactly how we are meant to be.

I had to work almost everyday this week.

Jeff and I went to the Harris house to see Dylan open his mission call. He is going to Argentina Buenos Aires South. He was Jeff's first assistant last year. We are excited for him.

Melissa and I started our own Inklings study group and this week was our first meeting. We talked about the talk The Imperfect Harvest by Elder Stanfield. Melissa hosted. I was late because Jeff needed me to make a few visits with him. We plan to meet the first Thursday of each month going forward from 7-8:30 to keep it consistent.

Melinda's kids were over and Ally came with Claudia to hang out with us. She doesn't get to spend time with other kids much so it was fun.

2023- Week 22(May 29- June 4)

Kristy and Miles invited all the Shaw's to go swimming at Merlin's on Monday for Memorial Day.  Tom grabbed KFC and we had a party. I was worried he wouldn't get biscuits because he asked someone to bring rolls but they gave him some and those are my very favorite part! Ruby fell and hit her chin on the diving board near the end and had to leave to get stiches. They were able to glue it. We took Corban home with us.

We took dinner to the Lahs. They are remodeling their house to put on the market. I will be sad to see them go. We love their family.

We went to cute Addie Elvidges baptism. Her dad is not active but is the best human ever and I was glad that he still got to stand in the circle to confirm her.

Jeff and I cleaned the temple on Friday night. I volunteered us to clean the bathrooms because it is a job you can do together. I'm not sure Jeff loved that ha ha. But I think it is one of the easier jobs because they are already so clean.

We had a fire. My favorite thing to do!

The kids went to the temple together. This makes me so happy that they love spending time together.

Sharon, Kristy, Malia, Kellie, Jen, Whitney, Hallie and I went to lunch at Schmidt's with Marrya. She wanted to meet them all. She became a part of our family on the Israel trip.
