2025- Week 21(May 19- May 25)

This year for Mother's Day we decided to take mom to dinner. We missed Emily who lives out of state. We went to Olive Garden. We got artichoke dip to honor great grandma Bixby who always grew artichokes in her yard. Mom told us our birth stories. It was a fun night.

Took Claudia to lunch for her birthday. We tried a new BBQ place in the District where they don't give you a plate and just slop your meat right down on a piece of parchment. The banana pudding was good- the meat was a bit dry for my taste.

It was Peyton's birthday this week so I decided to take him on the hike for youth night. I made a little sticker of him and we took photo's of it everywhere we went. It was actually so fun and I think the youth got a kick out of it. We hiked to Rocky Mouth Falls. On the way back we accidentally left Todd, Charlie and Alex so we sent Chris Farnsworth back up to find them. It was such a nice night. On the way home we sent the photos to Tara and Bryan. Happy Birthday Peyton!

This week was the annual Bishop's dinner at the Millers. They served Mo Bettah's and had the new mission president speak. I can't think of his name to save my life but he the mission home is in our stake. It was a nice night. They gave us this cute gift to take home.

Jeff got 2 strokes on a par 5 hole while he was golfing this week. He was pretty stoked.

Mom and I went to Valley View to put flowers on the graves. There was a huge any hill on Grandma Betty's grave and I ended up with ants all over me and the gloves so mom threw them away at the end.

2025- Week 20 (May 12-May 18)

I discovered that my coworker Eldon is a ham like me. Can I really call myself that if I never do anything with my radio ha ha?

I have been wearing the same pioneer dress at work for several years. It has become my signature dress and I love it so much. It is custom fit to me and I thought I would always wear it but lately it has become increasingly difficult to put it on. The closure is a series of over 20 hooks and eyes all down the back and my arms are just no longer flexible enough to reach them all. I have to have Jeff finish them every single time, which is not always possible if he isn't home so I finally talked to Shana the clothing supervisor and she told me that I could choose a new dress with buttons down the front. Unfortunately she didn't have a single dress in my size so the next option was for her to make me a dress. She said if I bought all the supplies then it would be my dress. Lucky for me Joann's is going out of business so I was able to get most of the things I needed so cheap. Here is the new dress and I love it.

Whitney gave me tiny rhubarb pies for Mother's Day and they are so good.

Remember that squirrel that left his tracks on my posters? Well this week I found him lying dead in the closet. Doug promptly came and disposed of him for me.

Katie, Melissa and I went up to the Heber Valley Open House. We got to see our camp and try out the tomahawk toss and see the challenge course and the lake. It made us extra excited to go to camp in a few weeks. We stopped on our way in Midway and had lunch at Lola's Street Kitchen. It was so so good and so darn cute!!  I had the steak salad and cowboy cookie- both very very good. I will definitely try to go there again soon.

I got the rest of the Shein dresses. I am only going to keep number 2. The rest I didn't love.

2025- Week 19(May 5- May 11)

I bought a bunch of wax bulbs and gave them to the neighbors. I want the Easter season to las all month and that's about as long as a wax bulb takes to bloom. Mine is finally blooming! I got six flowers and I even have a second stalk growing up so I will get even more blooms. Hua and Kelly also sent me pictures of their blooms. I love these so so much!!

We found a wonderful company called All About You Rentals that we are going to rent some of the table decorations for the wedding from. Christine is amazing and she helped Ashtyn's vision come to life. The cake is going to be a phone for a voice guest book.

I got called to Young Women! I am so excited! I will be with the older girls. We had a combined activity this week where we did a picture scavenger hunt. I went with the little girls and we had a blast running around the neighborhood. They are so so cute. There was Juliette, Adia, Claire, Norah, Berkeley, Blayke and Eva.

A squirrel knocked over my posters in the Mill and walked all over them leaving his little tracks ha ha.

I love having flowers in the house. Westin gave Ashtyn the roses and Kim gave me the tulips. Also my snow ball bush is in bloom.

Sharon, Cheri and I went to dinner. Love these ladies.

We finally got to meet Westin's parents in person! They are so nice. I was so intimidated at first but after about ten minutes they made us feel right at ease. We went to Harvest at Thanksgiving Point. They were so kind to pay for dinner. The best way I can describe them is classy, sophisticated, funny, down to earth and all around amazing.

Jeff found a water leak in our basement on Saturday. YIKES! It had probably been leaking for a few days and soaked the family room. Bryan Hall and his kids came to our rescue to help Jeff rip up the carpet and get some fans going. Luckily I was at the temple so I missed all the "fun".

Sunday was Mother's Day. Of course Jeff and the kids spoiled me like they always do. Ashtyn said she can't wait to be a mother so she gets a second birthday ha ha. We invited mom over for dinner. We had the chicken bacon artichoke pizza from Papa Murpheys. Mom told us about how they use to pick artichokes at her grandma Barbara's house so I have decided that artichokes will be our new Mother's day tradition. We gave her some white carnations which are also a family tradition.

Jeff bought me a new set of white Carote pans. I am so excited to use them!

2025- Week 18 (Apr 28- May 4)

Aubrey and her family were in town and we went to breakfast with her girls. Everly and Scarlet and so so cute. Scarlet was talking up a storm. Everly is a mini Aubrey. It was so fun to see them and spend time with them. I love that Aubrey always makes time for me when she comes. She is the most amazing friend. Of course we went to Gourmandise and of course I got a kouign amann to take home.

This week was Ashtyn's 24th birthday! I love my Ash! We went to dinner at Spitz. It's fun that we now include Westin. Ashtyn is the best thing that ever happened to us- she made us parents and I have loved being her mom. She raised me! She taught me that love feels better, that we have to give each other grace, that sometimes a person just needs you to listen, that a calm voice calms everyone, that style is your own, that God is King, that when we trust in the Lord he leads us to beautiful things, that you should focus on God's promises- not the problems we face, that going across the country to a concert is fun, that you are a bad ass woman and don't need a man to have fun in life, that spending money at Bohme is everything ha ha, that travel is and should be a part of life, that mistakes are meant to make us better and that life is so good. She has grown into the most amazing person and we are so
lucky she is ours.

Two of my coworkers Jen and Eli got married on May 4. Their wedding was a cosplay affair. They asked that everyone come dress in a costume. I wasn't sure if I wanted to dress up and Kim said she definitely was not dressing up so we didn't but I totally regret that decision now. Only about half of the guests were in costume but I really wish I had given into my inner child and just went for it and joined in the fun. The bride was dressed as Idris from Doctor Who and the groom was dressed as a Ghost Buster. It was so fun. It was held at Capitol Theater downtown. They had some delicious  hors d'oeuvres after the ceremony. We didn't stay too long but I am glad I got to be there. It was really fun! I had to miss family dinner at Paul's but I am glad I got to be there for the wedding!!
