As 47 new hybrid-electric buses go into service on May 4, 2026, Pace is inviting riders, residents, and transit fans to help name members of its new fleet of hybrid buses. As Pace continues its commitment to cleaner, more sustainable transportation, these next-generation vehicles represent a major step forward—and now the community has a chance to leave its mark.
Through this naming contest, participants can submit names that reflect innovation, environmental stewardship, and the spirit of the communities Pace serves. Three selected names will be featured on buses traveling throughout Chicagoland.
All submissions must be appropriate for a public, family-friendly transit system. Material types that will not be considered:
- Political in nature;
- Promotes the use of tobacco or cannabis;
- Includes or references to profanity;
- Includes indecent material (e.g., rated “NC-17” or “X” films, “MA” television programs, “AO” or “M” video games, adult entertainment);
- Includes sexual language;
- Material that is or should have been known to be false or misleading;
- An infringement of a copyright, trademark, or service mark;
- Promotes unlawful or illegal goods or services;
- Promotes the sales, distribution, or renting of firearms;
- Promotes violence;
- Adverse to Pace’s commercial, operation, or administrative interests or tends to disparage public transportation or the quality of service provided by Pace;
- Contains Pace graphics, logos, and/or representations or indirect references to Pace or its employees;
- Implies an endorsement of any service, product, or point of view by Pace;
- Encourages or depicts unsafe behavior or a disregard for safety precautions;
- Intended to be (or could reasonably interpreted to be) demeaning, disparaging, disreputable, discriminatory, or disrespectful to persons, groups, businesses, or organizations;
- Material which Pace reasonably foresees would incite or produce lawless action of any type.
Pace reserves the right to disqualify any entry that does not align with these standards and contest parameters.
