8 is GREAT!!

Well it happened. Some people call themselves procrastinators - but I really am one. If you ever find yourself in a situation like this one - you could be one too! The day of your 1st son's baptism, your mom looks at the white shirt he is going to wear and says "this is unacceptable".. Hey the shirt was free and it is fine - it is just one of those shirts that need to be ironed really well. Then she says "where is his tie, doesn't he have a tie".. Serious mom - I look at her like what are you even talking about. Long story short we are off to Target to buy a shirt and tie. That being accomplished, we make him change outside so I can get his picture in front of the Target store.

Then you go back into Target to the photo shop and print the - awesomely lacking in hair gel that was so desperately needed- photo of that said son. Anyways if this ever happens to you - you can be classified as a procrastinator too!! I also didn't send out invitations, and we decided we were going to baptize him here 10 days before we did it. I was sitting in DeAnn's house the day before J's baptism, and I said "you know J is getting baptized tomorrow" - "WHAT!" she exclaimed - "did you tell me this before?" In my defense it was announced in church the Sunday before and my answer was -"probably not" :).. Here is the Target picture.. (Getting an acceptable smile out of him was horrible for all involved - but 20 pics later we had a decent one)

Image Our good friends came up from VA to be there with us on this special day - we are going to miss them. We hope they move to the west - SOON! I am huge in this picture, but I am hiding behind cute boys!! My mom was there of course but I don't have a picture on my camera - she has one on hers, but that is way too much effort to get to.

Image Here is the cute dad and son combo - J was baptized with his friend Russel. It was a perfect night!! How fun for dads to get to do these life changing ordinances for their kids. We have been talking about and teaching baptism in our house forever. This was the day J got to make the commitment - of course we are so EXCITED for him.

This next picture is of my mom - can you tell she thinks it is cold here in PA!! She is such a baby - I tried to keep the thermostat down, but she couldn't take it. This is her with the thermostat at 67.. serious.. We have been having lots of fun and lots of naps. This baby was suppose to be coming today and tomorrow - instead we get to wait until mon/tue. She will be a groundhog baby probably. Therefore mom and I have been enjoying the time to just relax and have fun (and I am trying not to eat candy but GET REAL!).

Image
There was a shower - and I will admit that I walked away blessed with more pink than I ever could imagine. When we got home J was on this right away. DeAnn made this tutu - she tells me I am to put it on her all the time. Then when she is 9 months old she won't want to go without it. It is sooo CUTE!! FYI - a true procrastinator doesn't have a name yet for her baby 5-6 days before her birth...

What you could do with some AWESOME snow!!

About 2 weeks ago we got the BEST snow I have ever seen here in PA. PA just had to prove me wrong - I am always complaining that it is just lousy ice we get. I have gladly been proven wrong!!

Here are some things my boys decided to do with the snow. Traditional snow ball fight.

Image Not as traditional - but more fun probably. A type of human bowling - the sled and person are the ball - and the rest are the pins. The pins are usually cooperative and get in the way of the sled.
Image A STRIKE of course - these are the days you need lots of kids that are your own and can't sue you for broken bones.
Image You could fill a sled up with snow and ambush the person coming down the hill with it. Look closely the J man is under the falling fluff.

Image Pile all your own kids (liability reasons again) on the sled with you and see how fast you can go into the side of the apartment building.

Image Just plain dog piling!

ImageThere also is the science project - snow volcano.

Image Our Christmas this last year in PA was spent the absolute best way it could have been. Just us in the apartment ALL DAY - never even considering getting out of our pj's. I do believe this was by far S's favorite gift - he has been carrying it around for a week now. Oh the joys of silly putty. He has been waiting for a year to get his silly putty privileges back (he lost them after a huge chunk had to be cut out of his hair - by his preschool teacher! He showed up to school with the chunk in his hair. I didn't take him to school that day so I am innocent of all parental neglect).

Image
The most popular gifts were of course TRANSFORMERS!! That is what K did all Christmas day - transformed, transformed, and transformed. I took a nap!! We ended the night with TACOS!! I know how weird - but don't forget we have taco blood in us. It is what the boys wanted for dinner and that is what they GOT! To end the night on a high there were marshmallow wars. So CRAZY!! Grandma sent marshmallow guns and K was a master!! He was taking everyone out.

ImageThe picture below is no ordinary gun - k modified it by taking pieces from all three of their guns. He loaded it up and took fire at the boys. You can see some of them flying through the air. They were smart to cover up their faces. I really think K enjoyed the game more than the boys.
Image It is crazy that 2009 is over! Bring on the fun 2010!!
