๐ Foreword
Why am I writing this blueprint?
I've been doing Pinterest marketing in various market niches for a long time. And I know there's huge potential in it that few people are taking advantage of - not just affiliate marketers, but companies too.
And since affiliate partnership is one of my favorite business models, I searched Google for โPinterest affiliate marketing.โ And I didn't find anything useful that would properly explain the essence of Pinterest affiliate marketing.
That's why I decided to write this book / blueprint / guide - whatever you prefer to call it ๐.
And by the way, it's a book and not a video course because I didn't want to create an overpriced video course. Plus my English isn't the best ๐, so I'm writing this book with the help of translation and Ai. So I apologize if I write something incorrectly.
What you need to know before starting
IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO HIGHLIGHT THIS AT THE BEGINNING!
Just by reading this book, you will NOT get rich. And it's not even certain you'll make money with it. (Yes, I know I'm talking against my own interests, but I want to dispel false dreams.)
But then what can you actually achieve with this blueprint? - you might ask
By reading this blueprint, nothing will happen. Everything written here must be done by you through hard work and experimentation.
And if you do all of this, the money still won't just fall into your lap.
My take is that with Pinterest affiliate marketing, you can build a side project, a side income stream alongside your main job or business.
How much money exactly? That depends only on your work.
You'll need persistence and some luck
You might have to work on this side project continuously for months without results before the first outcomes arrive. That's why consistent persistence is so important, even when your initial motivation has faded.
(But good news - at the end of the book, I'll show you solutions for automating much of your work)Practice
I want you to actually launch and succeed with your affiliate Pinterest marketing. But for that, you need to not only read but also take action. This book only shows you the basics of what you need to do, but it won't do the โdirty workโ for you, from which you'll truly learn. Because your own experience is what will lead you to success. This book just gives you a push, but you have to keep rolling forward.
๐ฏ Niche & strategy
The first chapter is about finding your niche and developing your strategy.
Why Pinterest + affiliate marketing?
Pinterest is a brilliant social media platform for marketing. But I still think it's undervalued.
Few people use Pinterest for business purposes - most use it personally. Which is actually good for us, because the competition is lower than on other social media platforms.
And affiliate marketing is especially good for Pinterest because you don't need to create your own product to take advantage of Pinterest's opportunities and build a profitable side project for yourself.
Niche selection for affiliate marketing
The most important part of good Pinterest affiliate marketing is finding the perfect niche. Not every affiliate partnership works on Pinterest. Since people on Pinterest love looking at beautiful images, it's easier to sell home decor items than a programming course, for example. (Though selling the course isn't impossible, but I think it's a bit harder)
Most profitable Pinterest niches:
- Home renovation and interior design
- Health and fitness
- Travel
- Fashion
- Online business
Affiliate programs
I've collected some affiliate programs that can work well on Pinterest:
Home renovation and interior design
Health and fitness
Travel
- Booking
- Trip
- Viator
- Agoda
- Expedia Group
- GetYourGuide
- Tripadvisor
- Discover Cars
- Klook
- LocalRent
- Welcome Pickups

Online business
Additional affiliate network sites where you can choose from thousands of partners:
Niche validation - How to check
Pinterest is a great platform for niche validation, especially for affiliate marketing.
-
Search for your niche keywords in Pinterest search
Enter keywords for your main topic, for example:
- "home decor ideas"
- "workout at home"
- "outfit ideas"
- "travel ideas"
- "online business"
What to watch for:
- Pinterest gives automatic suggestions โ these indicate high demand
- Are there lots of results? โ Then the niche is alive and active
- Does the related keyword bar appear? โ extra proof of interest
Collect the keywords recommended by Pinterest's search engine in a table (collect everything that is even remotely related to your topic - you can filter them later) -
Use Pinterest Trends
What to check:
- Is the search trend for your niche growing or declining?
- Is it seasonal or year-round?
- Which keywords are growing the fastest?
- Which ones relate to purchase intent (e.g., "best", "review", "ideas for", "checklist")?
If a keyword is rising โ high chance it's a good affiliate niche.
Change the "Region" to United States to get more accurate data -
Examine the competition
Find the creators of the top pins in that niche:
Are there many large profiles? โ Competition is strong, but this means there's money in it.
Are there smaller profiles too? โ Very good sign, because it shows you don't have to be a giant to succeed.
-
Ask yourself the 3 main Pinterest validation questions
โ Is there enough search volume? Lots of results + lots of saves โ yes.
โ Is there purchase intent? Keywords like these appear:
- best
- tips
- essentials
- must have
- gift ideas
- review
โ These are strong "buyer intent" indicators.
Micro niche vs. multi niche approach
One of the most important elements of building your strategy is finding your micro niche!
You might ask: "Why do I need to find a micro niche? After all, more people search for multi niches."
Yes, you're right. But multi niches have already been targeted by big companies that you, as a beginner, can't compete with and will only fail.
That's why you need to find a micro niche that's small enough that the big sharks won't hunt it. But big enough that you can profit from it.
Think of things like:
Instead of "outfit ideas" โ "outfit ideas men" or even more specific "outfit ideas men streetwear"
Run the niche validation process on these micro niche keywords too and collect them in a spreadsheet.
Building your strategy
It's good to establish right at the beginning that you CANNOT do affiliate marketing with JUST ONE PINTEREST ACCOUNT.
For several reasons:
- Pinterest doesn't allow affiliate links. For example, it deletes the part after the ? (which marks that it's your affiliate link) and only a clean URL remains.
- People don't want to buy through Pinterest, but primarily want to collect ideas and tips. (That's why "ideas" and "tips" keywords work)
The best solution for this is to first direct people to your own website, i.e., your blog, and place your affiliate link there.
The strategy in short:
Pinterest โ Blog โ Affiliate link
- On Pinterest, you capture their attention
- On your blog, you help them
- Through the affiliate link, they purchase
An even greater advantage of this strategy is that you can expect traffic to your website not only from Pinterest, but also from Google.
Affiliate program selection
High commission vs. low conversion
Finding the balance between commission size and conversion is crucial in Pinterest affiliate marketing. Many beginners automatically choose the highest commission programs, but this isn't always the most profitable strategy.
Let's calculate an example:
- Program A: 50% commission, 1% conversion rate = 1 purchase out of 100 clicks
- Program B: 10% commission, 8% conversion rate = 8 purchases out of 100 clicks
If the average order value is $50 for both products:
- Program A revenue: 1 ร $25 = $25
- Program B revenue: 8 ร $5 = $40
Pinterest's audience is often prone to impulse buying, so lower-priced popular products often perform better, even with lower commissions.
When to choose high commission:
- For products with strong brand loyalty
- If you can create quality, detailed content that overcomes purchase barriers
- For narrow but committed niche audiences
When to choose lower commission:
- For products targeting broad audiences
- With proven converting popular brands
- If you want to see quick results
Cookie duration importance
Cookie duration determines how much time you have to earn a commission after the click. This is especially important for Pinterest, as platform users often collect inspiration and only buy later.
Typical cookie durations and their impact:
- 30-60 day cookie: Ideal for Pinterest, as it covers the entire purchase cycle. Users often return to a saved idea months later, for example when traveling or with bigger projects.
- 90+ day cookie: Especially valuable for products requiring long consideration time, such as furniture, electronics, or expensive beauty sets.
- Pinterest-specific tip: Since the platform's nature is "save and return later," the longer the cookie duration, the greater your chance of earning a commission.
Considering Average Order Value (AOV)
Average order value shows how much a customer spends on average per transaction. This is often more important than the commission percentage itself.
Let's calculate real revenue:
- 5% commission, $200 AOV = $10/purchase
- 20% commission, $30 AOV = $6/purchase
You can see that lower commission can be more profitable with higher AOV.
Pinterest AOV optimization strategies:
Promoting bundling: Your pins shouldn't show just one product, but complete sets. For example, don't just promote a vase, but a "complete living room decor package" idea. This increases the number of items in the cart.
"Shop the look" pins: For clothing affiliate marketing, show complete outfits, not just one piece. Users often buy all the products they see.
Seasonal collections: Create pins like "10 must-have spring home decorations" where you link multiple products from a single affiliate program. If someone browses and buys, the AOV will be higher.
AOV categories on Pinterest:
- Low AOV ($10-30): Fast turnover, many clicks needed, but easier conversion
- Medium AOV ($30-100): Optimal for most Pinterest niches, good balance
- High AOV ($100+): Fewer conversions, but each purchase is significant revenue
Mixed strategy: The most successful Pinterest affiliate marketers mix products with different AOVs. They combine a few low-priced, quickly converting products with higher-value "dream products" that rarely bring bigger commissions.
๐๏ธ Build - Setting up the system
The second chapter is about building your affiliate marketing system.
Blog tool selection
I'm going to recommend 2 blog tools that are perfect for blogging:
1. WordPress
You might already know it, since WordPress is a very popular blog and website builder. Many people love it.
- Free
- Almost completely customizable (lots of freedom)
- No programming knowledge needed
- Tons of free templates and plugins
- SEO friendly
- Scalable
- Large community
- Security risks
- Update requirements
- Speed problems (if too many plugins are installed)
- Requires website building experience/knowledge
- Costs can add up (WordPress itself is free, but can bring several other costs: hosting, premium plugins, premium template)
2. Feather
Feather isn't as popular as WordPress yet, but it's much easier to launch your blog with it.
- Notion-based writing
- SEO optimized (meta, schema, sitemap)
- Lightning-fast loading
- Unlimited blog pages from one account
- Built-in analytics
- Email/newsletter support
- You can have a working blog the same day
- Paid
- Limited design customization
- Lack of built-in monetization options
- Basic analytics
Summary in short:
If you need lots of freedom, customization, extensions, and scaling โ WordPress is the better choice
If you want a simpler, faster blog without technical details โ Feather is very convenient
My personal opinion
If you ask me, I recommend
Feather. Because even if you don't understand website building, your
blog can be ready quickly and you'll have a quick win soon.
It took me several years to learn WordPress well enough to master it. But I don't think you have time for that right now.
If you still haven't decided based on this, keep reading. I'll introduce both blog tools in detail.
Domain and Hosting
I'll try to keep this section a bit short because choosing and setting up a domain and hosting isn't that exciting, but it's all the more important.
โ ๏ธ Important! You only need to buy hosting if you chose WordPress instead of Feather. You don't need hosting for Feather!
I recommend Bluehost
I recommend Bluehost both as a domain registrar and WordPress hosting because everything is in one place.
It's one of WordPress's most popular and easiest-to-use hosting providers. Very simple to use because:
- Everything is automatically configured
- They have a one-click WordPress installer (WordPress installation video)
- Very stable, fast, and the support is one of the best in the world
- No technical knowledge needed, the interface guides you through everything
Domain name selection
You can find domain names on Bluehost here.
Finding the domain name is a very important step in affiliate marketing and website building. After all, this will be, so to speak, the brand name of your blog and Pinterest account. Which you won't be able to change later. So you need to take time to find the perfect, still available domain name.
But you shouldn't spend hours on it, so I've put together a few points on what to pay attention to when brainstorming domain names:
- Collect keywords in the affiliate/niche topic - Write down keywords related to the topic (5-20). Combine them. E.g., PinBlueprint.com
- Domain length - Should be easy to pronounce, max 6-12 characters
- TLD selection - .com is primary, if not available, can be: .co, .io, .blog, etc.
- Check - Verify that the domain is available
- Decision and registration
Important: don't overthink the domain. I know it's important to you that it sounds cool. But what's really important will be the website content. So find a short, understandable domain and register it. Then start building the money-making website.
Creating the blog page (website)
First, I'll introduce the WordPress website, then Feather.
WordPress setup
I linked it earlier, but here it is again, how to easily install WordPress on Bluehost.
What I find important to note is that after installing WordPress, there are a few important setup steps you need to do:
-
Settings โ Permalinks โ Post name - This sets up SEO-friendly URLs.
- Plugins โ delete all installed plugins (these are unnecessary for us)
- Appearance โ delete all installed themes, because these are also unnecessary, because we'll use a different, more SEO-friendly template (you might not be able to delete all themes because one must always be active for the site to work)
- Posts โ delete the test post
- Pages โ delete the pages too
With this, the WordPress basic setup is done, now come the plugins.
WordPress plugins
Now I'll list the really most important plugins you definitely need to run a well-functioning blog:
- Wordfence Security - Security plugin: Firewall (help video)
- Limit Login Attempts Reloaded - Security plugin: Limits login attempts (help video)
- WPS Hide Login - Security plugin: Changes the login page URL (help video)
- Yoast SEO - SEO plugin: Optimizes the blog's complete SEO (help video)
- Classic Editor - Simplifies the blog post editor (no video needed for this, because as soon as you install it, it works ๐)
Just these 5 plugins are necessary for running a blog in my opinion. The free version is enough for each one.
WordPress theme
You only need to choose and set up one WordPress template. There are also free templates, but I don't think they're that good and aren't properly SEO-optimized.
I recommend the Divi template for the blog. I use this myself on my HomeStageTips blog.
Important! The Divi template comes with the Divi builder too. DON'T use this for this blog. (At least not at the beginning yet.) Because with the builder you can set design and layout, but these are completely unnecessary at launch. And you're just wasting your time if you deal with these settings.
Instead, just set up the "Divi Theme Options" and "Theme Customizer" settings. Even here you can set up a lot, which is more than enough for starting.
Feather setup
Feather setup is much simpler than WordPress setup. You don't even need a domain name to start, just a Notion account.
Here's a short video tutorial on how to setup Feather:
Pinterest business account setup
Creating and setting up a Pinterest business account will be much simpler compared to creating the website.
New account creation vs. existing conversion
You can create a Pinterest business account in two ways:
- Register a completely new business account
- Or you already have an existing Pinterest account that you can convert to a business account in the settings
Both solutions will give you the same type of account.
Important: don't convert your personal Pinterest account to a business account for affiliate marketing purposes. Create a new account specifically for this purpose.
Pinterest account registration
-
Create a new Pinterest account. If you don't have one yet, register
a business account on Pinterest.com; if you have one, add a new
account.
-
First, you need to describe the business form. I think "Content creator" is the best choice
-
Then you need to give your Pinterest page name, this should be the
same as your website name. The region can remain where you are (this is
irrelevant in this case). And provide your website address
- After this, you need to provide a few more details:
- What are your business goals? - worth checking: Generate more leads, Drive traffic to your site, Create content on Pinterest to grow an audience
- What's the focus of your brand? - here choose what best fits your affiliate partner program, your niche
-
This ends the Pinterest business account registration. For the last question, choose "Showcase your brand"
Pinterest account settings
Now set up your Pinterest account. This will be even simpler than registration:
- Set a profile picture, your website logo (you can create a logo with Canva or LogoFast)
- Write a short description about what your Pinterest account is about (this should be human-written, shouldn't sound like marketing text, but it's still very important for marketing purposes)
- Also set a username, I think the best choice is your website domain name, e.g., for me /pinblueprintcom
- Then save
Linking website to Pinterest account
During registration, you already provided your website address, but now you need to connect your website and Pinterest account even better, so Pinterest definitely knows the website is really yours, and enables full statistics and features.
To do this, click on "Link to Pinterest," then on "Websites." Choose "Add TXT record." In this case, you're connecting your website domain name to Pinterest. Guide for it:
After you've successfully set up the Pinterest code, check on Pinterest whether it succeeded. If yes, then you're done with this too. Congratulations ๐
Board structure planning
On Pinterest, you need to create boards so you can upload and save images (pins). For this, you shouldn't create one board and save everything there, but create different boards for better structure and Pinterest marketing strategy.
It's worth returning to the Niche validation section, where you selected your perfect niche, i.e., your micro niche.
You need to go through the same strategy to build the board structure:
- If all went well, you've already collected keywords for finding the perfect micro niche
- Type these keywords into the Pinterest search and see if there are results, or write completely new keywords
-
The Pinterest search is very good because it also throws up lots of
additional useful keywords that people are searching for
- Collect every keyword you find even slightly useful in a spreadsheet
- Then select the best board keywords:
- Choose keywords that have high search volume but aren't overly saturated
- Favor long-tail keywords because they're easier to rank for
- Avoid too general, too broad keywords (e.g., "fitness", "outfits")
- Keep in mind Pinterest logic:
- Pinterest doesn't like "catch-all" boards
- It loves very specific boards
- The more niche a board is, the better position it can achieve (but be careful not to overdo it and target too small a niche)
- Ideally, create 10-15 strong, keyword-optimized boards. This will be your Pinterest profile's SEO foundation
- Every board should have a clear, keyword-focused title
- And have a keyword-focused, natural language description, at least 2-3 sentences
- If you have your board structure, content upload can come:
- Pinterest doesn't like empty boards (of course this is logical, because if there's no content on your profile, why would it direct visitors to your account ๐). When you have 10-20 images per board, then you can expect traffic - but we don't stop at these numbers.
Tools and software
You'll need the following tools for Pinterest affiliate marketing.
Design tool
Canva - You might already know it because it's a very popular tool. It's an easy-to-use, drag-and-drop design tool with which you can quickly create professional Pinterest pins from templates.
Keyword research tools
Ahrefs Keyword Generator - Very simple to use, free keyword research tool that provides relevant blog post keywords.
Analytics tools
You can use several analytics tools to analyze your blog:
- Simple Analytics - A simple analytics tool that's also free initially.
- DataFast - Also a simple tool ๐. But a bit more specialized because it also shows Stripe revenue. This isn't necessary for affiliate marketing because you're not selling your own products. But it might be useful laterโฆ
The third chapter is about content creation.
Blog post writing
Keyword research
In Ahrefs Keyword Generator, do keyword research again, which you already did on Pinterest. You can copy the same keywords you already collected from Pinterest.
You'll write blog posts for these keywords.
1 keyword = 1 post
If you run out of keyword ideas, you can use ChatGPT or Claude.ai for brainstorming.
SEO optimized blog post structure
This is a basic guide on how to start writing SEO blog posts, which is a great starting point. I also use these points when I write blogs. But if you want to dig deeper into how to write super blog posts, here's an understandable guide "How to write a blog post?".
My blog post structure:
Title (H1)
- Contains the keyword
- Should be emotionally attractive and click-worthy or be questions
- Examples: "15 Best [Product]", "How to Do [THIS]?"
Introduction (first 100-150 words)
- Answer the user's question immediately
- Connect with the reader (problem + solution)
- Promise concrete value: "In this article, I'll show X productsโฆ"
Main content structure (H2, H3 headings)
- Write 2-3 sentence paragraphs
- Paragraphs should have H2 subheadings, if you need subheadings within H2 subheadings, use H3
- Include lists, tables
- Insert relevant images and write short descriptions and alt text for them (images are very important since people are visual types)
- Place relevant internal links to your other blog posts (this way they strengthen each other)
- And place external links too (besides affiliate links)
- Important! Write the post as if you were talking to your friend, make it as human and helpful as possible
- DON'T FORCE VISITORS TO CLICK ON YOUR AFFILIATE LINK, but naturally place it in the text (but more on this in the next point)
Here's a sample blog post from one of my affiliate blogs: How much does virtual staging cost? - HomeStageTips
Embedding affiliate links naturally
The golden rule: Value first, affiliate link second
Creating context
โ Bad example: "This product is good. [Affiliate link]"
โ Good example: "Some platforms like [PRODUCT - Affiliate link] work incredibly fast. You upload your photo, pick your options, and your staged image appears in about 20 seconds. Other services might take a day or two but often include more customization options."
Call to Action (CTA) variations
Mix these so it's not monotonous:
- "Check the current price here โ"
- "Details and purchase โ"
- "Explore the color selection โ"
- "Read more reviews on Amazon โ"
- "Get it with a discount โ"
- "Try [PRODUCT] โ"
Affiliate link ratio rule
- Maximum 1 affiliate link / 100 words
- Don't over-spam - reduces trust and click-through rate
Pinterest pin design
Ideal pin sizes and formats
Static images:
- Optimal size: 1000 x 1500 pixels (2:3 ratio) - Canva also uses this ratio
- File format: PNG (best quality) or JPG
- File size: Maximum 20 MB, but aim for under 2 MB (faster loading)
Standard pin (vertical):
- 2:3 ratio - THE BEST choice
- 1000 x 1500 px (recommended)
- This fills the Pinterest feed best on mobile and desktop
Square pin:
- 1:1 ratio - 1000 x 1000 px
- NOT recommended: takes up less space, less noticeable
Video pins:
- 9:16 ratio (Stories format) - 1080 x 1920 px
- 2:3 ratio (standard) - 1000 x 1500 px
- 1:1 ratio (square) - 1000 x 1000 px
- Length: 4 seconds - 15 minutes (optimal: 15-60 seconds)
- File format: MP4 or MOV
- Maximum file size: 2 GB
Pro tip - testing multiple sizes
Create 3-4 different pin designs for the same blog post:
- 2x 2:3 ratio (different designs)
- 1x 9:16 ratio (Stories/video style)
- 1x experimental (unique approach)
Design best practices
COLORS - the foundation of attention
Pinterest psychology:
- The human eye decides in 0.3 seconds: scroll or stop
- Color is the first thing we notice
Best performing colors on Pinterest (based on data):
Red shades - Highest engagement (200% more repins)
- Coral, raspberry, burgundy
- Ideal: fashion, beauty, food
Orange and peach - Warm, friendly
- High click-through rate
- Ideal: lifestyle, DIY, home decor
Blue tones - Professional, trustworthy
- Navy, teal, sky blue
- Ideal: tech, business, health
Pink and purple - Creative, inspiring
- Millennial pink, lavender
- Ideal: beauty, wedding, feminine topics
Earth tones - Natural, calming
- Terracotta, sage green, beige
- Ideal: home decor, wellness, eco products
โ Colors to avoid:
- Full black background (absorbs light, depressing)
- Pure white background (gets lost in Pinterest feed)
- Excessive neon colors (amateur effect)
โ Color palette rules
60-30-10 rule:
- 60% Dominant color (background)
- 30% Secondary color (elements, graphics)
- 10% Accent color (CTA button, important text)
Contrast always:
- Dark text on light background
- Light text on dark background
- Minimum 4.5:1 contrast ratio
Brand consistency:
- Use 3-5 recurring colors across all your pins
- This makes you recognizable
- Example: Always the same CTA button color
FONTS - readability vs. creativity
Basic rules:
Maximum number of fonts: 2-3
- 1 for title (Heading)
- 1 for body text (Body)
- Optionally 1 for emphasis (Accent)
Best font pairings (Heading + Body combinations):
- Montserrat Bold + Open Sans
- Modern, clean, professional
- Ideal: business, tech, minimal design
- Playfair Display + Lato
- Elegant, classic
- Ideal: fashion, beauty, luxury
- Bebas Neue + Roboto
- Bold, attention-grabbing
- Ideal: fitness, motivational, bold statements
- Raleway + Merriweather
- Sophisticated, readable
- Ideal: blog, editorial, home decor
โ Font MISTAKES:
- Excessive use of script fonts (hard to read)
- 4+ different fonts on one pin
- Too thin font
- All caps in long text (1-2 words OK, more is irritating)
- Too dense lines
โ Font BEST PRACTICES:
- White outline (stroke) on dark letters on light images = always readable
- Shadow usage
- Background overlay - Semi-transparent dark box behind text
- Negative space - Give air around the letters
CTA (Call to Action) - The key to conversion
Best CTA placements on pin:
- Pin top - 15-20% area ("New", "Free", "2026 Trend")
- Pin middle/bottom - Main CTA button
- Pin bottom - Website/brand name
Effective CTA types:
Action-Oriented CTAs:
- "Click for details โ"
- "Read the full list โ"
- "Get the guide โ"
- "Discover now โ"
- "Check prices โ"
Curiosity-generating CTAs:
- "You won't believe #7!"
- "We saved the best for lastโฆ"
- "This changed my life"
- "Why didn't I know this before?"
Urgency-Creating CTAs:
- "Last day! ๐ฅ"
- "Available for limited time"
- "While supplies last"
Value-Based CTAs:
- "Free guide inside"
- "Save 50%"
- "Expert tips โ"
CTA design elements
Button style:
- Contrast color (stands out from background)
- White or colored background + dark/light text
- Slight shadow (depth illusion)
- Size: At least 250-300 px wide, 50-70 px tall
Arrow icons:
- โ โ โ โค โถ โฅ
- Guide the eye
- Add dynamism
Emoji usage (carefully!):
- Maximum 1-2 per pin
- Only if it fits the topic
- ๐ฅ ๐ โญ โจ ๐ก ๐ โค๏ธ = popular
- โ ๏ธ Avoid: excessive emoji use looks amateurish
Additional design elements
Images and graphics:
- Authentic photos > stock photos (if possible)
- Product images on clean, white background (e-commerce)
- Lifestyle photos in context (inspiration)
- Collage - showing 2-4 images
- Close-ups - showing details
Design styles for affiliate marketing
List layout (Top 10, Best 15โฆ)
- Numbered or bullet points
- Mini product images
- Clean, scannable
Before/After
- Strong visual proof
- Column design or diagonal swipe
Problem/Solution
- Left side: problem illustrated
- Right side: solution (your product)
Testimonial style
- "How I changedโฆ"
- Quote format
- Builds credibility
Grid/Collage
- 4-6 images in mosaic

Pin template creation in Canva - step by step
1. Setup - Creating template basics
Opening Canva:
- Canva.com โ Login
- "Create a design" โ Custom size
- Enter: 1000 x 1500 px (or choose Pinterest Pin preset)
- Pro tip: Create a Brand Kit first!
Setting up brand kit (Canva Pro feature):
- Upload your logo
- Add your brand color palette (3-5 colors)
- Choose your brand fonts (2-3)
- These will be defaults in all templates
2. Template structure - Layout design
Layers from bottom to top:
- Background - Colored or gradient
- Background image (if any) - opacity 60-80%
- Overlay boxes - Shape elements behind text
- Main graphic/image - Product photo or illustration
- Text layers - Title, subtitle, CTA
- Decorative elements - Icons, lines, badges
Video pins
Video pins - The new king?
Pinterest video statistics:
- Video pins get 3x more engagement
- 2.5x longer viewing time in feed
- 67% more saves on average
- Pinterest prioritizes them in the algorithm
โ Video Pin Advantages:
- Motion = attention retention
- Product in actual use
- More authentic than static image
- Higher CTR (Click-Through Rate)
โ Video Pin Disadvantages:
- More time and energy to create
- Video skills needed (editing)
- Harder to batch (create in bulk ahead)
Hybrid strategy - THE BEST approach
80/20 Rule:
- 80% static pins (easy, fast, batchable)
- 20% video pins (higher engagement, algorithm boost)
Monthly content plan example:
- Week 1-2: Create 15 static pins (batch work)
- Week 3: Create 3-5 video pins
- Week 4: 10 static + 2 video pins
- Total: 25 static + 5 video = 30 pins/month
Pinterest SEO
To reach as many people as possible with your images uploaded to Pinterest, you need to optimize them for Pinterest SEO. Now I'll briefly explain how you can set these up simply.
Board keyword research (which you've already done ๐)
When searching for your niche, you already collected lots of keywords. You'll use these for boards:
1 keyword = 1 board
You don't need to create all boards right away, only create those where you know a pin will be added soon.
Board description
It's worth giving boards a short description too, where you clearly describe what the board is about. If you can, place the keyword in the description too, but only in natural phrasing.
Pin title and description optimization
When uploading a Pin, you need to provide the following:
- image
- title
- description
- link (blog post link)
- board
- tagged topics
Image
I already wrote a lot about images in the "pin design" section. I won't go into this here now. Just upload the image you created in Canva.
Title
Should be short, interest-generating text. And if possible, include the board keyword (but this isn't mandatory). Max 100 characters
Description
The description can be longer (max 800 characters). But I think this is too long, people won't read it anyway. Better to be 200-400 characters. But of course, this depends on the specific pin. Experiment with description length.
The content should be informative, useful. The reader should think this is interesting and they'd like to read more about it. That's exactly our goal, for them to click the link and get to the blog.
Therefore, close the description with a simple CTA:
- "Click for the complete guide"
- "Read more about this"
- "Check out the step-by-step tutorial"
At the end, you can write hashtags, but it's not mandatory. Experiment with this too to see which works better. But important: Don't overdo the number of hashtags. A comfortable amount: 5-6
Link
This is simple. Copy the URL of your blog post that you're creating the Pin for.
Board
Select which board you want to save this pin to.
Tagged topics
This part needs to be experimented with. Type in keywords that fit the pin and see what Pinterest suggests. Select the relevant suggestions. Max 10 can be set. It's not mandatory to max it out if there aren't that many relevant keywords.
Then hit "Publish"!
๐ Launch - Initial growth
The fourth chapter is about launching and initial growth.
First 30 days strategy
To achieve results with both Pinterest and your blog, you need to show up regularly. In other words, you need to post every day. At least 1 blog post and 1 pin daily.
With this strategy, you can achieve the fastest results in getting clicks on your affiliate links and earning commissions.
(But if you don't have time to show up every day, that's not a problem either. I'll provide a solution for this in Automation & systems. Keep reading, don't jump straight there.)
Daily tasks
On the first day, collect 10-20 blog post keywords in Ahrefs Keyword Generator, which you'll write 1 post about daily.
If you haven't done it yet, also collect Pinterest keywords in a spreadsheet.
From the second day on, you can start writing blog posts and posting 1 pin daily.
It will be very difficult at the beginning. Both writing the blog and creating and uploading the pin. But as you progress and gain experience, you'll write and edit images faster.
Your first writing and pin will be crap. But don't worry about it. The point is to do it and show up regularly.
If you manage to do this continuously for 30 days, you'll develop a habit in your life that will make content creation much faster.
Accelerating results
With the previous strategy, you'll definitely achieve results. But if you feel you have enough capacity and can create additional content, here are some more tips.
Creating 3 pins daily
Create 3 pins daily, from 3 different blog posts, and share them at 3 different times of day:
- morning
- noon
- evening
Building engagement
Following tactics:
- Follow 10-20 relevant profiles daily
- Target audiences: competitors' followers, active pinners in your niche
- Don't automatically follow back everyone, stay authentic
- Weekly cleanup: unfollow inactive or irrelevant profiles
Pinterest algorithm
How does it work?
The Pinterest algorithm is fundamentally built on relevance and quality, not follower count. Three main things determine how much visibility your pins get:
- Content quality: The algorithm favors high-resolution images, valuable descriptions, and relevant keywords.
- Engagement signals: Every interaction counts - saves, clicks, likes, comments, and time spent on the pin. Saves are the strongest signals because they show someone wants to revisit the content later.
- Personalization: Pinterest shows each user a unique feed based on their previous saves, search history, and interactions. This means precisely defining your niche is critical - you need to pin consistently in one topic so the algorithm understands who to show your content to. (But I guess you know this already, since we thoroughly covered finding the perfect niche ๐)
The importance of consistency
Pinterest isn't a social media platform, but a visual search engine, but with one critical social media element: the algorithm rewards regular activity.
Why does consistency matter?
Algorithmic Advantage: Pinterest favors accounts that regularly publish fresh content. If you're inactive for weeks, then suddenly post 50 pins, the algorithm finds it suspicious and reduces your visibility. In contrast, 1-5 pins daily is a much more natural pattern.
Seasonal Advantage: In many niches (gift ideas, fashion trends, travel), it's worth pinning 2-3 months before the season. If you're consistent, you can position yourself in time when search volume spikes.
The bottom line: Better to post 1-2 quality, optimized pins daily for 6 months than 20 random pins daily for 2 weeks. Affiliate income comes from long-term, consistent presence on Pinterest.
๐ Scale & optimization
The fifth chapter is about scaling and optimization.
Analytics tracking
Analytics is the backbone of your strategy in Pinterest affiliate marketing - this is where you see what works and what doesn't.
Pinterest analytics interpretation
The Pinterest dashboard is divided into three main areas:
Overview metrics Impressions show how many times your pins appeared in others' feeds. This is the basic measure of visibility - if it's low, you need to work on SEO or pin design.
Audience insights Here you see who your followers and pin viewers actually are. Demographic data (gender, age, location) helps fine-tune targeting. If, for example, you notice that 70% of your viewers are women aged 25-34, you can tailor content precisely for this audience.
Top Pins analysis Analyzing your best-performing pins is worth gold. Look at common patterns: what colors, design styles, titles work? Which product categories generate the most engagement? If a pin performs unexpectedly well, create variations from it and test further.
Trend report: Pinterest predicts what will be popular in the coming months. Use this to select new affiliate products and content topics before the market becomes saturated. Pinterest Trends
Analytics setup
I already mentioned some website analytics tools that you can use to measure your website traffic. Now I'll list them again:
- Simple Analytics - only partially free, but sufficient for affiliate marketing
- DataFast - worth using if you also have your own product that you sell
On these analytics tools, you always need to check 2 important things:
- Where are visitors coming from? โ Referrers
- What are visitors viewing? โ Top pages
Obviously, you'll have zero visitors at first, this is normal. Every website starts this way. But slowly visitors will come from Pinterest, Google, and other places. In fact, if you do things right, other search engines will also bring clicks, as well as ChatGPT. And if you write very useful posts, other blogs may also link to your posts, which not only bring traffic but also backlinks that strengthen your SEO.
There's one more important analytics tool, and that's Google Search Console. This isn't just an analytics tool, but it also improves your SEO because you give Google complete transparency.
With Search Console, you can specifically look at clicks coming from Google, to see which post brings how many visitors.
Pro tips for strengthening SEO:
- In Search Console โ Sitemaps, submit your website sitemaps. You can find these by typing /sitemap.xml after your web address. Example: https://pinblueprint.com/sitemap.xml
- In Search Console โ URL inspection, submit some blog posts so Google indexes them sooner.
Scaling strategies
Creating more boards
Why is diversification important?
The multiple board
strategy reduces risk and increases reach toward different micro
niches.
Optimal board structure:
- 5-10 boards at launch - Don't overcomplicate at the beginning
- 15-25 boards when scaling - When you already have stable traffic
- Thematic segmentation - Each board should target a specific sub-niche
Content repurposing
The biggest scaling secret: One content = 20+ pins
Multi-format approach:
From one blog post, create:
- 5 different pin designs (different color schemes, layouts)
4 pin types:
- Standard static pin
- Carousel pin (multiple slides)
- Infographic pin
- Video pin (if you have video content)
Timing strategy:
- Don't publish everything at once!
- Spread the content over 4-6 weeks
- Pin 1-2 new variations about the same content weekly
- Pinterest algorithm treats different designs as new
Cross-platform repurposing:
- Instagram story โ Pinterest Idea Pin
- Instagram reels โ Pinterest Video Pin
- TikTok โ Pinterest Video Pin
- YouTube video โ Pinterest Video Pin
Conversion optimization
In affiliate marketing, the most important metric is none other than the conversion rate. How many people buy through your affiliate link?
You can increase clicks on affiliate links and conversions in different ways.
CTA testing
One of the best conversion-boosting elements is placing CTAs on the blog.
I recommend placing CTAs in 3 areas:
- header menu (as a button if possible, but if not, a simple menu item is also good - you can highlight it with an arrow: โ)
- sidebar
- below posts, directly above the footer
You can easily create these CTAs on Feather; in WordPress, you need to code for this, I could only solve it this way too.
For writing CTA texts, ask Claude.ai for help - it writes much better text than ChatGPT.
๐ธ Making money
The sixth chapter is about maximizing your earnings.
Income expectations
Realistic numbers - what to expect in the first 3-6 months
Months 1-2: The foundation phase ($0-50) Don't expect income in the first weeks. During this period:
- Pinterest is indexing your content
- Your follower base is building
- You're learning which pins work best
- Google is just starting to discover your blog
- First clicks and maybe 1-2 purchases may arrive
Months 3-4: Building momentum ($50-300) If you've worked consistently, in this phase:
- You can reach 10-50 thousand impressions monthly on Pinterest
- 50-100 clicks per day can arrive to your blog
- 5-10 conversions monthly (with a 3-5% conversion rate)
- Your first "viral" pins may appear
Months 5-6: Beginning of exponential growth ($300-1000) Your older pins start really working here:
- The Pinterest algorithm favors you more
- 50-150 thousand impressions monthly
- 200-1000 clicks daily from Pinterest and Google
- 20-50 conversions monthly
- Some successful pins bring traffic for months
Important factors that influence income:
Niche selection:
- High commission (software, digital products): faster results, fewer conversions needed
- Low commission (fashion, decor): more traffic needed, slower building
Work Investment:
- 30 minutes daily: slower growth, 6 months to visible results
- 2-3 hours daily: faster momentum, 3-4 months to first serious income
Content Quality:
- Professional designs: 2-3x faster growth
- Well-written descriptions: higher CTR and conversion
- Strategic keyword use: faster indexing
Realistic Example with Medium Commitment:
- Month 1: $5
- Month 2: $25
- Month 3: $120
- Month 4: $280
- Month 5: $520
- Month 6: $850
Scaling potential
12-Month Timeframe: $2000-5000/month With consistent work and optimization:
- 200-500 thousand monthly impressions
- Several hundred conversions monthly
- 3-5 strong niche boards that continuously bring traffic
- Stabilized revenue stream
18-24 Months: $5000-15000/month At this point, your account and blog are "mature":
- Over a million monthly impressions
- Hundreds of pins and blog posts working for you in the background
- Diversified revenue sources (multiple affiliate programs)
- Significant passive income portion (old pins and blog posts bring traffic)
โ ๏ธ Important! These calculations are informational only. It doesn't mean you'll actually have this much income. However, there's a chance you'll achieve similar income if you consistently create content every day for your blog and Pinterest.
Scaling strategies:
1. Horizontal scaling (more niches)
- Launch 2-3 additional Pinterest accounts (and blogs with them) in different niches
- Each profile is a separate revenue source
- Diversify your risk
- Potential: 3-5x revenue increase
2. Vertical scaling (same niche, more content)
- 10-15 pins instead of 5 pins daily
- Use scheduling tools (more on these in the Automation & systems chapter)
- Multiple affiliate programs in the same niche
- Potential: 2-3x revenue increase
3. Creating your own product
- The biggest jump: 100% profit margin
- Digital products (e-book, template, course)
- Direct your existing Pinterest traffic to your own product
- Potential: 5-10x total revenue increase
Critical success factors:
- Consistency: 90% of those who quit do so in the first 3 months. Of those who persist for 6 months, 70% will be successful.
- Data-Driven Optimization: Continuously analyze what works and do more of it.
- Patience with Pinterest Algorithm: This isn't Instagram where you see quick results. Pinterest is a long-term game, but the investment pays off.
Building multiple revenue streams
Using multiple affiliate programs
Diversification is key to having stable affiliate income. Instead of relying on a single affiliate program, build a portfolio that provides multiple revenue streams.
Why work with multiple programs?
Affiliate program
commissions can change, product popularity can fluctuate, or
partnerships can even end. If you stand on multiple legs, no single
change will endanger your entire income. Plus, different programs offer
different products, so you can create more diverse content that appeals
to a wider audience.
How to choose programs?
Start with the largest and
most reliable networks related to your niche. Also look for programs
that pay higher commissions in your specific niche - for example,
digital products can often give 30-50% commission.
Don't be afraid to try smaller, niche-specific programs too. Many brands run their own affiliate programs, which often provide better terms than big networks.
Practical management tips
Keep track of every program in a simple spreadsheet: which program gives what commission, when they pay, and which of your pins and blog posts convert best. This helps optimize your strategy and quickly see which partnerships are most worthwhile.
Initially, choose 3-5 programs, and only expand further when you're managing these efficiently. Too many programs at once can cause chaos and fragment your energy.
Adding your own product later
When you're already generating stable traffic and understand your audience's needs, creating your own product can significantly increase your income. With affiliate commissions, you only get a few %, while with your own product, the entire revenue is yours.
When is it worth launching your own product?
Don't
rush into it immediately. First, build an audience that trusts you and
regularly clicks your links. If you already have 10-20 thousand visitors
monthly and understand exactly what they're looking for, what their pain
points are, then it's worth starting to think about your own
product.
What products are worth creating?
Digital products
are the best answer because they can be launched with low costs and
automated.
Digital product ideas:
- Detailed guide (ebook)
- Template package
- Online course
- Checklist collection
If, for example, you work in the online business niche, you could create a "How to Write SEO Blogs" course.
Launch steps
Start with a simple MVP (Minimum Viable Product). Don't polish the first version to perfection, but launch it and develop it further based on feedback. Use your already-working content on Pinterest and your website to generate interest. Create a landing page for the new product and start promoting it with your pins, email list, and through your blog posts.
Digital product and affiliate marketing combination
This is my personal favorite, when I combine a digital product with one or more affiliate programs.
I'll let you in on a secret!
This Pinterest
affiliate marketing blueprint is also such a combination. (if you
haven't noticed yet ๐) In fact, I've placed several affiliate links in
this educational material, which supports me. Thank you so much if you
purchase through my links ๐
So you can also create a similar educational material for your own niche. This can be a video course or an ebook where you link your affiliate links. Which convert much better because someone (in this case, you) explains to them how to use that specific product.
I recommend starting with a simple product, you don't need to record a multi-hour video course right away. I'm speaking from experience: I once created a very detailed website-building course for the Hungarian market, and nobody has bought it since.
So start with, for example, an ebook or a website like the one you're on right now. (True, this requires some programming knowledge because I coded this site. If you're interested in programming, here's a great course that explains it understandably: CodeFast by Marc Lou)
Ads on the website
When your website has enough traffic, display ads can be a passive revenue source. This supplements your affiliate income without requiring extra work.
โ ๏ธ Important! Place ads on your blog at your own risk. It can be very tempting to earn additional passive income, but this can also have negative results.
People don't like websites packed with ads. So there's a chance they'll leave your website sooner before reaching the affiliate link. This reduces affiliate conversion. Plus, if you're also selling a product, its sales may also decrease.
I thought I'd mention this before it's too late. - But regardless, ads can really provide a good additional revenue source.
When is it worth placing ads?
Most ad networks have
minimum traffic requirements. Google AdSense has no strict minimum, but
it's worth waiting until at least 500-1000 visitors daily to generate
meaningful income. Premium networks like Mediavine or AdThrive have
higher requirements - usually 50,000 or 100,000 sessions monthly are
needed, but in return, they provide much higher RPM (revenue per
thousand impressions).
Which network should you choose?
As a beginner,
Google AdSense is the most obvious choice because it's easy to set up
and has no traffic minimum. Ezoic, for example, is a good intermediate
step that accepts sites with smaller traffic but offers better
optimization than AdSense.
Preserving user experience
It's very important that
ads don't ruin the site's usability.
Start conservatively - place ads embedded in content, in the sidebar, and possibly at the end of articles. Avoid pop-up ads and formats that disrupt reading. Watch your analytics: if time spent on the page decreases after introducing ads, reduce the number of ads.
๐ค Automation & systems
The seventh chapter is about building automated systems.
Blog content automation
Feather plugin
If you're using the Feather blog tool, you can take advantage of the Ai assistant Chrome plugin. It helps with blog writing.
Unfortunately, WordPress doesn't have this option
Or does it? ๐
How to 100% automate blog writing?
You have the option to 100% outsource blog post writing with the help of Outrank. This is an Ai based blog post generation system that can help you achieve huge results in auto-pilot mode.
Use the coupon code PINBLUEPRINT and get 10% off all payments within the first month. ๐
Outrank literally really does everything for you:
- Keyword research
- Post writing
- Image generation
- Table creation
- YouTube video embedding
- Link placement
- Publish
๐ Plus feature: Your blog regularly gets backlinks because Outrank users' blogs automatically link to each other, strengthening each other in Google.
Setting up Outrank is very simple, you don't need to worry about it.
And what's really great about it is that you can integrate it with both WordPress and Feather. It works simply with both.
If you automate blog post writing with Outrank, you only need to deal with creating pins. Or do you even need to do that? ๐
Pinterest automation
And yes, you can automate Pinterest pins too! ๐
BlogToPin
BlogToPin is also an automation tool that automatically creates Pinterest pins from your blog posts.
BlogToPin best practices
Timing and frequency:
- Don't flood your account with too many pins at once
- Vary posting times for different time zones
- Leave time for manual pinning too
Quality control:
- Check automatically created pins weekly
- See if images and texts appear correctly
- Follow pin performance in Analytics
- Fine-tune templates if necessary
With the Outrank and BlogToPin combination, you can create a 100% automated money-making machine where your only job is to check that they're actually creating quality content. ๐
Additional scheduling strategy
If you want to reach even more people and drive them to your blog, you can harness the power of other social media platforms. All you need to do is use a scheduling tool that's connected to all your social media accounts.
One of the best tools for this is PostBridge.
With this, you can semi-automate your marketing. Because you need to create the content for all platforms. But posting already works automatically, saving tons of time and gaining tons of extra reach.
Avoiding automation mistakes
โ DON'T:
- Don't post too frequently (max 20 pins/day)
- Don't use only automation - mix in manual engagement
- Don't ignore Pinterest guidelines
- Don't forget to change pin designs occasionally
โ DO:
- Regularly check automated pins
- Respond to comments and engage
- Test different times and formats
- Back up successful pin templates
๐ฌ Final thoughts
The eighth chapter is about the END ๐
We've reached the end. But the work is only just beginning. ๐
I feel like I've managed to write down everything related to Pinterest affiliate marketing that's important for you to know. If something was left out and comes to mind along the way, I'll expand the material.
I hope I've succeeded in conveying the essence to you and motivating you to start Pinterest affiliate marketing, because you can truly achieve great results with this knowledge.
Never forget the essence:
If you take this to heart from this course, you're already in a winning position.
I recommend not reading this material just once, but multiple times, because at different stages, it can offer different help. It's worth re-reading it every six months to a year - maybe you'll get a new idea about something.
