Whether you’re writing your first lines of HTML, building a VR app, or a hoverboard, PlexHacks is just the place for you. We will have workshops during our bootcamp period to help make your idea happen. You will be able to exhibit your creativity worry-free.
Similar to last year, to continue to support international students, PlexHacks 2021 will be fully remote! From Sydney to New York, you can participate in all our events from any (WiFi‑supported) environment.
Our overarching theme this year is: Breaking Down Barriers: The Utilization of Technology for Education and Accessibility! One of our core values as a club is to provide education and access to resources for anyone who seeks it. Being a technology-centric club, we wanted to see how your hack can combine these two to solve real world issues.
We aim to attain 3 goals for you through PlexHacks:
To Make New Friends: PlexTech provides a brilliant opportunity for you and your team to forge professional contacts and make new friends. As we’re expecting 100+ innovative software developers, grab your chance of connecting with people to discuss ideas and opportunities. If you’re a brand new freshie, this is precious!
To Innovate: Hackathons are proving grounds for new ideas. They’re especially good tools to stimulate the creative and problem-solving juices of developers. Unlike software day jobs where risk-taking may be frowned upon, in a hackathon there is a no-cost of failure. As a result, truly special products come out of hackathons.
To Learn: Sometimes, a developer just wants to implement something cool! Want to use a particular API or experiment with a new technology that you saw in one of our workshops? Luckily, hackathons are just 36 hours where you could tinker with whatever you want!

Originality
Challenge yourselves to think outside the box! How have you found innovative solutions to problems? Looking for creativity within the hack itself! -
Practicality
How useful is your hack to its end-user? How reliable is it while effectively pursuing change? How much of an impact does your hack actually make to a relevant issue? -
Technical Difficulty
We want to see you explore technologies! Think of ways unlike others to formulate your hack. Show us your process, from ideation to prototyping to final development and testing! -
Usability/Design
How user-friendly is your hack? Can anyone pick it up and get started right away, does it seem like you put significant thought into the layout, design, and aesthetics? -
Video Demo!!!
How engaging is your up to 3-minute video demo? Does it shine light on your project, how you made it, its impact on an issue you address, and not bore a viewer asleep?
