Trying to turn that one idea you have into a finished product? Looking to gain experience working with a team on a large scale coding project? Well, look no further! Come be a part of UCSD's PROM (Project of the Month), hosted by the Computer Science and Engineering Society! This isn't you're average high school prom, this is the real deal.
>> You're probably wondering, what's PROM?
Each month, students like yourselves will be able to create a project in response to a prompt and have the chance to take the throne of best Project of the Month! Think of it like a hackathon, but on the time scale of a full month. The prompt of the month and winners of the previous month will be honorably posted in a display case in our computer science labs!
>> Why should you participate?
1. Work on some amazing larger-scale projects with others
2. Your talent isn't restricted to a night or weekend like most hackathons
3. Expand your learning opportunities and experience with aspiring CSE students looking to get into the industry
4. Have the opportunity to win great CASH prizes for having the most creative, relevant, and clever projects!
>> Need a team?
Here's a link to a Google Form that will help you find a team/members: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1W9RsUXIxhba-D3LYZRIE5ekoY_7_1WrmDlCwlyy_d-g/edit?usp=sharing
>> Oh no the month already began! Can I still participate?
Of course you can! We allot you a month solely because we feel that at events like hackathons, projects tend to be very much unfinished. We want you to have enough time to be able to complete or come close to completing your project and get the experience of working with a team over a longer period of time. Thus, whether you begin week one or the week before the deadline, you still have a chance of winning, so definitely compete!
>> Where can you find the prompt/rules/more info?
This month's prompt is...OPEN! What does that mean? It means we're making this exactly like a month-long hackathon. You can create any product you would like and submit it for the competition!
>> Where can I find more information about CSES?
Visit our organization's website (cses.ucsd.edu), Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ucsdcses), or come out to one of our GBMs, our recursion events, and more!
>> Where do I submit my project?
Here!
>> How Does it Work?
1. We will release a prompt for the month
2. Participants have until midnight of the last day of the month to build a project answering to the prompt
3. Projects will be judged by UCSD CSE students, faculty, and alumni in the week following the deadline
4. Winners are announced as the next month's PROM takes place
