Lil' Miss Emma In Action

While I was getting ready to go to Elie's assembly today, Emma got a hold of my camera. In the past I've let her use it before so she knows how to turn it on and take pictures.

Crazy Week

Friday night Elie woke up with a slight fever. By Saturday night she started coughing and we still didn't think it was too bad. It wasn't until Sunday night around 10 that she woke up coughing and said she couldn't breathe. I called the nurse then I gave her my asthma inhaler which only helped a little and some tylenol. Of course with the darn swine flu going around my paranoia got the the best of me for a whole 2 minutes until I prayed about whether we should take her to the ER. Monday morning we got her into the pediatrician and found out she has an upper respiratory infection. :( Sweet girl barks like a sea lion but is getting better. We did have fun with her at home and played when she had the energy and even painted fingers and toes then put cutsie gem stickers on them. (I found them at Walgreen's last week when I was trying to pacify Emma into leaving the make-up aisle and letting me go to the pharmacist counter.) If they would have let me take pictures I would have. Emma pranced around and would bat her eyelashes when she would show PJ and Dad.

Waiting for Paul

We were waiting in the car for Paul to come downstairs for lunch. Here's a little glimpse of Emma in action.

Better Days

Some were asking how her head was. It's looking a lot better. I cringe taking her out to the store for the looks I get but No social services yet! ;)

Emma Gets Her Own Special Egg

I got called out of class the last 20 minutes at church yesterday. Image

She was in the nursery room at church when she fell down and hit her head on the chair. The knot was not only large in diameter but protruding farther than I've ever seen a knot/goose egg do. I was getting ready to go straight to Urgent Care when the nursery leader reminded me of all the doctors and surgeons in the ward. (duh!) Totally forgot about that.

We go walking fast to find someone. The first person we see is a pediatric surgeon. He was wonderful with her and checked for *crunchies* around it. He took the time to explain to me what happened, what to watch for, what I could do for pain, yada yada. (He also said that it was the largest knot he'd ever seen but made me feel better that the 10 minutes we stood there talking to him him repeatedly checking for a skull fracture that it was a good sign the knot wasn't getting larger. Whew.

Church let out a few minutes later and I headed to go pick up the kids down the hall. There I ran into one of the teachers in primary who is another doctor who checked it out. He gave me the same prognosis which I was grateful for. Same conclusions by different doctors is always comforting. :)

By the time we rounded up the 2 older kids and heading out the door to go home I decided to stick my head into my classroom and apologize for having to leave 20 min early because of something urgent coming up. She said not to worry about and then she glanced down at Emma and said, "Oh MY!" She wanted to check her head. (Did I mention she's a nurse?) So yeah, we were definitely covered on the medical help. It made me feel very blessed to know we have so many caring people at church...(with medical licenses) :D

You can't really tell from the angle how far it was sticking out. Sweet PJ (and I say that with some sarcasm) kept calling her Frankenstein. Luckily Emma didn't know she was being insulted.
Other than that it was a great Easter weekend.

I Want To Buy That!

I was searching the newspaper online for a new/used couch this weekend. Here's the beauty I found. Is that not the most hideous couch you've ever seen?

Cruel and Unjust Punishment

Image

Here's what I consider a cruel joke played by the fates. You hope and hope that the whole family and will have a "snow day". It's like a free pass to get extra sleep, not rush around all frantic trying to get out the door on time and just have a peaceful morning. Well our "Snow/Frozen Rain Day" came true but didn't start off the way I had imagined. No siree. Not this morning. Emma woke up in all chipper at 5:30 and couldn't contain herself. For awhile she continued to spew forth knowledge and wisdom to me, the cat and her sleeping dad the computer. For an even more Emmaesque moment her volume control knob was broken when she was born so everything she is saying is particularly loud. I begrudgingly got up and made my way through the house with her in tow but we ended back in our room where she wanted to play on her computer. I did feel a little better for after she woke up Paul. Whoops. Did I say that outloud? I guess I'm not the suffer in silence type.
