This girl is so funny

Tai asked me to take her to the potty and on the way she said… “don’t worry mom I don’t have to go poo-poo, I just need to go number 9”.  When I told this to Daniel he said… “Man, I never want to see what number 9 looks like”.

Go away VM

Filed under: Uncategorized — ptice @ 4:32 pm

I woke up with a call saying my Aunt was in the hospital with Viral Meningitis.  Viral Meningitis is not the life threatening illness that bacterial meningitis is, but it can make you sick for 2-3 weeks.

How does this affect the Tices?  Tristin went and spent last week with this same Aunt and has supposedly been exposed.  That means no public pool, birthday parties, or friends.  This may drive me crazy, I might have to take them out back and let them swim in the pond and socialize with the cows or dig lots of random holes in the yard (they love doing that).  I am not sure how long we will be on lock-down but I will be checking in with my Dr. on Friday.  Please pray for my Aunt Judy and the health of our family.

The Dentist

Filed under: Uncategorized — ptice @ 4:04 am

Hey, I’m back from sabbatical and I’m not going to talk about diarrhea.

I hope you like the view, I know I do.

I recently took the kids to a new dentist for their annual dental checkup.  Our other dentist left town without telling anyone, but that’s okay because we found Dr. Sukawala.  He was so sweet to the kids and he let me go in the back with them.  I was so impressed with Tai and how still she sat that I ran out to the car and got my camera.

They all ended up needing a little work done and blamed the lack of flossing on me.  Now they love to floss and show me what they can dig out.  Tristin even takes floss/picks to school in her backpack, she is quite the overachiever.

On Monday Tristin went in to get her second round of work done.  This time they had to give her the gas.  When they brought her to me she looked up and through her numb lips smiled and said “Look mom, I got a grill”.   I made eye contact with the dental assistant who happened to be black and we lost it laughing.  We had to explain to her that it wasn’t a grill but just a shiny cap.  Then we went to Sonic and had a milkshake.  It is always fun spending time alone with her, even when she’s all hopped up on laughing gas.

Who Knew?

While we were eating dinner Daniel casually says “Did you know you should not go swimming for 2 weeks if you have diarrhea”.

I say “what if you shower”.

He said “that helps”.

Who knew?

This is Love

The other weekend we went camping in Gonzolas and Mollie, Daniel, and I did a race with my dad.  It was fun to see the kids cheering for me like I was some kind of superhero.  Dad said we were going to go easy and have fun but it turned into a two hour non stop paddle off between us and another boat.  We had one portage that took us through a forest of poison ivy, which Dan and Mollie are highly allergic to, but they knew better to say anything because Dad was in the zone.  We passed four boats on this run because dad decided to take a… well, let’s call it “less used” entrance into the water.  I fell two times.  As I was getting back in the boat covered in mud I made eye contact with Daniel but I couldn’t read him.  I’m sure he was trying to think of a good reason why he married me and took on my crazy family.  When we were all back in the boat we raced to the finish.  My once soft hands were now covered in pulsating blisters and I was praying they wouldn’t bust before we were done.  They didn’t… we finished….. my dad was pleased. The campground was nice, the food was great, the kids played with nature, we had a fire, and we all slept well.  What more can you ask for?

Daniel swimming with the kids this summer.

Daniel has a new job!  He is now the Assistant Supervisor of the College Station Aquatics Department.  This is awsome because now I am able to stay at home with Tai.  No, I don’t have a job but I was thinking about getting one, but not anymore.  I just wanted to give Dan a shoutout for always taking such good care of us.  Good luck baby you will do great!

Wow a new post!

Today was a good day.  Tai’s hair was amazingly under control, I got a good workout and cleaned the house.  When Tai went down for her nap I had to search for some thing to do besides watch divorce court on T.V..  I decided to go through a box of pictures that has been in our room for over a year.  The pictures were some that Daniel’s Aunt had sent home with us from Mississippi.  They were of his Mamaw Helen and Pawpaw Jesse and a few very special pictures of his mom.  I was sad that I had left them in a box for so long.  I found a photo album and began to put them in one by one.  There was one of his grandfather very deep in thought kneeling down by a wall, as I turned it over and read the date it brought me close to this man I had never met.  The picture was of him nervously waiting for his grandson (my future husband)  to be born.  I smiled.  Then I came across one of his mother, young and beautiful holding a chubby baby dressed in an odd halloween costume, the sad thing was she was hideing her head behind the baby as to be saying “no, don’t get me in the picture”.  This makes me sad because we literally have about five pictures of her and maybe two of them with her and Daniel together.  It is not her fault she probally thought she had 50 years to pose in pictures with her beautiful children.  No one knew she would die so young.  How many times do we as moms choose to sit out of pictures or delete ones from our digital cameras because we think our hair is not perfect or our nose is to big.  I do and I don’t want to anymore.  I wan’t my children to see pictures of me loving them, gazing at them adoringly imperfections and all.  Good decision.  I also decided to get over my fear of putting holes in the wall and hung up some of the pictures on the wall.  I can’t wait untill Daniel gets home.

Tai’s blurb of the day – Talking to her mom yelling, ” I’m going to spank you when I get bigger”.  ( I think I might have to get loving pictures with Tai when shes sleeping.)

I eat way too much.  I do good at home because I control what I cook and it’s usually not that good, but when I am not in a “safe food” zone I lose it.  I need to serve myself a little self control.  After a weekend of stuffing myself full and taking home tupperware full of tres leche cake and guacomole I am in desperate need of some Slim Coffee.  The other day I saw an add for this beverage and this swetty man was leaned back with his abs at full potential drinking some slim coffe.  I thought it was one of the best marketing jobs I have seen right  next to Barbara Walters giving her testimonial for Hoodia the apitite curbing cactus plant.  Seriously, I would never really buy these products but they are tempting.  I will however be doing time on the tredmill at Gold’s tonight if anyone wants to join me.

Food for thought:  Is it safe to eat under the slime layer of day old guaco?

I want to give a shout out to my sweet friend Erica.  You are such an amazing mother and wife.  I can’t wait to see you and baby Emma this weekend.  Tai used my cell as a pool toy yesterday so it is out of commission.  Should have it up and running by today.  We love you and Happy Birthday!
