Unfortunately, it seems as though I have only found time to actually WRITE in this blog like once a year. Poor Edmund only has his life documented in pictures and not words... though, like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words right? (I'm hoping this rings true). I'm not sure where to even start. Maybe I'll mention that in October 2015 we took a big leap of faith and had Randy accept a job in Ohio. We sold our house and lived with my mom for the holidays (while Randy alternated working in Ohio and working online from Utah every two weeks) and then we made the trek to the start of our new adventure. I'll be honest and say that the transition was actually a LOT easier than I thought it would be. I'm going to blame my saving grace, the gym. We joined a gym that has childcare and luckily, my kids ended up loving it! This 1.5 hours in the morning was perfect for me. It broke up Edmund's whiny time and had him taking his nap right when we got home... giving me some time with Lena and Walter. However, please don't have any large expectations on me being tremendously skinny with ripped muscles... this is a gradual process... seeing as I still have not mastered the art of eating healthy.
Enough about me, I feel like I should give a small update on the kids:
Lena- My Lena bug has started FIRST GRADE!!! Honestly, this is not getting easier... it's nice getting some one-on-one time with Walter (as Edmund naps) but deep down, I get that sick feeling that my little girl is going to be an adult before I know it. The good thing is that she likes school, which makes it a tad bit easier. Lena's obsession currently (probably the same as it was the last time I gave an update) is cats and kittens. She really loves stuffed animals and has WAY too many. She is very logical in her conversations with me and always coming up with "what if...s" and explanations for everything I say. She is losing teeth like CRAZY! Now that I think of it... I don't think I have a picture of her yet with her two front teeth missing... AAAAHHH... what a terrible mother I am. :( I'll get that later today.
Walter- Oh Walter. I wish I could record every word that comes out of that kids mouth. It is all note-worthy and silly and cute. His obsession of late is series... anything that has matching other things in different colors is his love. i.e. the ticket to ride trains from the game that match the cards that match the little circle pieces. Or matching pens, pencils, markers... he usually finds an obsession for the day and must hold those objects at all times for that day... he's also very good at dropping things and screams histerically when he drops one of these special items. Calm down Walter, just pick it up... one day he'll realize that's an option, other than screaming about it. Today he was excited to see Lena leave on the bus... he got his spider-man backpack and had me pack him a snach and drink (like Lena). On the way to the bus stop he says, "When I'm five I can go on a bus?" (his inflection is the best... he ends with a really really high pitch for questions). "When I go potty I can go on a bus?" ... "I DID go potty" (one time... I told him he needs to wear underwear for a long time... I feel like there's hope).
Edmund- He is such a hoot and a serious cutie. I seriously can NOT get enough of this stage of his. He loves hugs and is saying lots of words. He calls Lena "Nanni" and his binki "bi bi". He is addicted to his binky for sure. He can walk and run and climb and feed himself and by golly he is large and in CHARGE. He knows that he can do what he wants (well, he thinks he knows... which makes for loud tantrums when this knowledge is proven false.) He's gotten good at saying "NO" with a foot stomp and hand slap. He is also working on jumping... still only getting one foot off of the floor at a time, which is very fun to watch. :) For bedtime he likes to be holding his bear while reading a book (lately "The Going To Bed Book") 5 times in a row and then holding said book in his own hands while he falls asleep.
So anyway, after having been back to visit Utah, the transition got a lot harder for some reason. I'm hanging in there, but for now it's extra hard to be away from family and dear friends. We still plan on moving back to Utah eventually... this humidity is killing me!
I'm going to bid you goodnight for now. Here's to making these updates more often than yearly.
