Black River Trip (9/5/08-9/8/08)

Liane, Bert, and I have wanted to go camping for about a year now so we decided that this year we were just going to do it. We decided that Black River was the best option. Liane and I used to camp there all the time with our family when we were younger and we loved it. Plus it is really close to where dad lives so he was able to come up and visit us during the day. Bert was happy to go anywhere. We thought it was best if we waited until the weekend after Labor Day to avoid crowds and we were right there was almost no one up there it was awesome! We were also lucky enough to camp with my Aunt Patty and Uncle Blaine. Even though it was a short trip we really had a good time.

Dad helping Paul fish, I think dad really enjoyed himself!

Lucy just had to get in the water with me, even though it was freezing. For me the only thing in the water was my feet and ankles for Lucy she was practically covered. In the picture above the water was moving fast so to ensure she wasn't taken down stream she rested up against my leg. That too was really cold!

I did fish however I didn't catch a single thing. Patty says its because I didn't have enough patience. If I let the line sit it would get caught on a rock or tree branch. Oh well perhaps next time!

Patty was making us gravy for breakfast!

This is the first fish that Liane has ever caught. She was really excited, it was a small fish but since it swallowed the hook there wasn't any other option but to keep it. She ate it for dinner!

Paul's tent came in a set with his sleeping bag. We decided to put it up so he could play in there rather than the tent we slept in, keep the bugs and extra dirt out!
