I don't know if it would be considered a hunt or just a grab, as the tradition each year we have a turkey dinner with all the fixings and then we have eggs filled and bags of chips, fruit snacks, candy, fruit leathers, pencils, clementines and etc. thrown all over the grass for the kids to get and in the end every kids bag is FULL with all the goodies. Auntie Lesh handed out full size candy bars too. This year the numbers were smaller as a few families didn't make it that usually come. We let the bigger kids help put out the candy this year, but we also let them collect for themselves as well since we had so much. The missionaries live in the basement of my parents house, so they thought it was amazing and we even let them have a bag to collect some of the goodies too. We always have to get a picture of all the grandkids too. (Isabel, Brylee, Connor holding Marshall, Dawson, Aiden, Bodie, Belin, Brinley, Burkley, Breagan, Tanner, Cache, Kelty, Asher, Cannon, Chandler, Dylan, Kade, & Maxwell) I think Grandma and Grandpa Shurtleff were looking down cheering the kids on with big smiles on their faces that we still get together for our annual Easter Party.

Shurtleff Easter Egg Hunt/Grab

Easter Day
The Easter Bunny hides the baskets and the kids have to find them and also has eggs that she has filled and hides them around the house to find. Just a few shots in the morning of the kids finding their baskets and eggs. Tanner found his under the desk in the kitchen and Brylee found hers behind the couch in the family room. Lots of eggs were hidden around the house and I have decided that Easter is a bigger candy holiday then even Halloween. With Easter Egg Hunts with both sides of the family, the city egg hunt and also Easter morning the kids have a ton. I asked the kids if they want to put it all in a bowl in the kitchen or have it in individual bags, Tanner was for putting it all together, but Brylee wanted her own. Little does she know hers will be gone before Tanners and she could have had some of Tanners if they would share. I give it a week and we will be putting it all in the candy jar to share.
We enjoy the Worldly part of the Holiday, but I do recognize and make sure my kids do KNOW and Celebrate what Easter is all about. What would we do without the TRUE meaning of Easter, the Death but most of all the Resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. He made it possible for us ALL to live again!! He is our Older Brother, Our Savior, Lord, Redeemer, Only Begotten, my Best Friend!!
Easter with the Rays
Oliver, Eliot, Tanner, Brylee, Andrew, & Lily
Tanner *****************Lily
We celebrate Easter with the Rays the Saturday before Easter. This year we had hamburgers/hot dogs and etc at our house. The kids played then Marci and I hid the eggs and they had a fun time finding them. I was grateful that the weather was good enough to have it outside. We let Brylee and Eliot go ahead just one minute head start before the three boys. They all got plenty of eggs/candy. (Grandma puts quarters in her eggs she brings!) We love spending time and having family over.
Egg Decorating
Friday night before Easter we did egg decorating and Jason was even home to do it with us this year. In the past we have done it during the day so he would be working. It was fun to have his creative touch this year. The kids had a good time and Brylee ran out of eggs so fast that she tried to take some of Tanners. Jason did a funny guy one. I liked to do flowers and hearts. Brylee liked writing letters and her name on hers. Tanner did a cool Jazz one and my favorite an I love you one that he gave to me.

WH Easter Egg Hunt
Brylee was being a little pill and didn't get any candy. She just stood there and did nothing. Tanner had fun and I gave her one of his eggs to trade in for a big candy bar, but told Tanner if she didn't want to get the eggs and candy he couldn't share his candy with her. I told her now as I was looking through the pictures why she acted like that and she said "I was tired and I didn't want any candy, but I didn't know they had gum in them." She had lots of other chances for candy with the Rays and Bowen and didn't miss out on them.
It was fun seeing the neighbors and kids in the ward that are on the youth city council. McKenna and Morgan were right between the 4-6 & 7-9 yr old area to lower the rope when it was time. Bryce was with the Easter Bunny (Suppose to be a secret that it was Dylan)
Play Ball
I love that Tanner has so many kids in the neighborhood that he can play with. This was a day a few weeks ago that I thought I would take some shots of Tanner playing some hoops with his buds. He is excited for Baseball (machine pitch)that is starting in a few weeks. He started practicing this last week and is loving it. It will be a lot of fun watching the games and here is hoping for no rain outs and good weather!!

Farewell to our FISH
Have you ever been to a party or for us it was a block/ward party and one of the games was a fish pond with real fish. We came home with two. Jason is the creative one and named them Chewy and Bacha. Well Chewy lasted about a year I think it was. Bacha it has almost been two years and I didn't mind him, but wasn't as attached as Jason. He had a softer heart for the little guy he was the one to normally feed him and we would both clean out the bowl. In fact the day we got him was a Sat night and I said he will die before Monday when we can get him fish food, but Jason with his soft heart had to stop and get some fish food. I thought they would be dead like everyone else in the neighborhoods, but nope ours lasted almost two years next month it would have been. I decided to get a couple of more fish for company so when I was at the store a couple weeks ago I got three little gold fish. We ate dinner and the kids helped name them. Tanner came up with Coca for one Cola for the other and Brylee named the other Dora, or she says it like this "Dorla!" So it was a Sat. Monday Dora died, Tue Morning Coca died Tue afternoon Cola died, then Wed morning we woke up to our favorite long living Bacha afloat the water. Of course they are all in fish heaven down the toilet with the other things that get flushed. When Chewy died over a year ago Brylee would not go to the bathroom in the grave of Chewy, assuming he was in the toilet. Jason after almost two weeks still when he comes home from work occasionally says I keep thinking I need to feed the fish. Brylee cried when Dora died so we pretended for the day it was Coca that died and not Dora just to make her happy, but then when the others died so quick, I guess she got all her crying out with the first because she didn't seem to care with the others. Farewell to our Fish! Now, NO PETS ALLOWED!!!

GUYS NIGHT
The Boys took a guys night since our Spring Break Camping Trip got rain/snowed out I found a great deal on KSL for some lower bowl Jazz tickets so Jason could take Tanner to a game. They had a blast!!! I was glad they got to do something they love together. I love that Tanner has a love of Basketball just like his Dad. Tanner loves to play basketball, but he is now loving to watch games with him as well.
