Christmas

Here are some pictures of our Christmas. Santa's sleigh tipped over at our house I think. We,(Richard and I) had a wonderful morning and Duncan had a great time opening gifts and playing. He is the best part of our Christmas morning. He is getting big enough that "Santa" is a fun thing for him. He wrote him a note and left him cookies but he insisted that Santa have hot chocolate instead of milk because, "it is cold outside in his sleigh." So, Santa got to chug a nice big cup of hot chocolate instead.
I almost forgot, just in case you are wondering yes, Richard does have bleach blonde hair- The kids at the Jr. High met their goal for cans for the food bank and money for the "Sub-for-Santa" program here in our community. Because they reached it, he dyed his hair. He is such a good sport and so now we will have a blonde Dad for a month or so.

We take a picture each year of everyone with their Christmas. Duncan insisted that he either be in our picture or one of us had to be in his... What a fun day we had and what a wonderful time of the year it is.

Here are some pictures to catch you up on the last couple of weeks. Since I have not kept up very good.
We got our tree in and decorated the first week of December. Duncan enjoyed using the ladders to decorate it and yes, it is large, call us the Grizwalds- It is a pretty tree though. We love Christmas at our house. From there, we celebrated my 29th birthday and no, I'm not real fond of that number, but oh well. We had a ward party the end of the week at which the primary did the program and then the Phillips Christmas party where we decorated gingerbread houses and went for a ride on the trailer to carol and see the lights at the Old Mill Park with all of my cousins, aunts and uncles. Next was the Jolley Christmas party (Richard's side) where we saw Santa yet again and then we had to visit Greenline this past Saturday to see St. Nick in the Gator and go for a wagon ride with the ponies before we headed north with the Pays for our party with Richards' immediate family. We had dinner, went to the Festival of Lights in Spanish Fork, where we stopped and had our picture with Santa once again and then we stopped at Salem ponds on the way home. Both are fun places to see all lit up and Duncan enjoyed all of it. I think that about sums up the pictures, hope you enjoy them. We hope you are having a wonderful Holiday Season and that your homes are all happy, healthy, and blessed this Christmas season.

After our fun day on Saturday we were off again on Sunday to go cut Christmas Trees. It is an annual event and everyone in my family goes and cuts their tree. Here are a few pictures of our tree cutting this year. The best part is, the tag only costs $5. We can get as big or as little as we want and it costs the same every year. It is alot of fun and you can never beat a fresh cut tree.

okay so here comes our week end! The town decided this year that they were going to have a light parade along with turning the lights on at the old mill park. Kecia and I had this great idea to be in the parade. Any way, we started working on the "float" on Friday afternoon and had it all finished by around 5:00 on Saturday. In tradition with the celebration, Santa makes a visit so we had to go see him in the afternoon before the parade and lighting started. Decorating was fun for the kids and the adults didn't mind it either. The parade had 33 entries in it and the streets were lined with people. It was very fun and there was alot of participation from the community. We played our instruments, and had every intention of playing Christmas music, but we ended up playing the Orange Blossom Special through the parade because people were yelling and clapping and dancing in the streets! Duncan played his "shingle bells"- don't ask me why he calls them that- and he kept pretty darn good time with the beat. It was a fun event and everyone had a good time. To top it all off, we were the Grand Prize winners of the parade, which was voted on by the spectators of the parade! Best part was, we didn't even know that they had prizes for the winners so the kids were all excited that they "won the parade"! Only trouble is, what are we going to do next year? Any way, after the parade got over we walked through the old mill park to look at the lights and took some pictures. The city has done a really nice job decorating and it makes for a fun family outing.
