39 and a Visit from Grandma and Grandpa

I turned 39 years old on February 25th--my last year in my 30's! My Mom and Dad were able to be here for my birthday which made it extra special.

We spent a few days with them going bowling, playing games,  and enjoying time together. Thank you for coming to visit us, Grandma and Grandpa! We love you both!!!

Grandpa Romney Comes for a Visit

Grandpa Romney came for a short weekend visit so he could be here for Connor's priesthood ordination on Sunday, February 14th. We were so excited and grateful that he could come for this very special occasion.

Connor's 12th Birthday

Today Connor officially turned 12 years old! 

We had his favorite dinner, spaghetti, of course. Since we already celebrated his birthday on Saturday, we didn't do another big cake--just a small personal cake for Connor. We did manage to fit 12 candles on it, though!!

He opened a few more presents and then he headed out the door to his first mutual night at the church. I can hardly believe he is 12!!!

On Saturday night, Connor celebrated his 12th birthday with a few of his friends. He had a video game party.

 I had a lot of fun making the decorations for his party and Connor loved it all!

Connor and his friends enjoyed playing several different games on the Nintendo Wii U and 2ds. They laughed and laughed at things that are only funny to 11 and 12 year old boys. It was fun to listen to them from the other room! Jason made the comment that it was like having 4 Connor's in our living room because they all acted just like Connor :)

He received a new Pokemon game for his Nintendo 2ds from Mom and Dad. He was very excited about that!

His friends were also very generous. He received some money, gift cards, and Pokemon cards.

The party was a hit and they all had a great time playing video games, eating pizza and cupcakes, and laughing and telling silly jokes until it was time to go home.

18 Months Old!

Somehow a whole year and a half has passed since Spencer joined our family. Where has the time gone?? He has added so much love and joy to our family. We love him so much!

This month Spencer has been working on getting 4 more teeth (one on the bottom front and the 3 remaining 1 year old molars)--ouch!!! He had another ear infection, too, poor guy :(

But, even with all of that going on, he is mostly a happy, fun and extremely active 18 month old. He is not quite running, but almost. He climbs the stairs every chance he gets, so we have to keep the gate up. He loves all of Jason's gadgets (computer, iPad, etc) and is constantly trying to touch them. He still enjoys making messes for Mom to clean up, which she does several times a day. He is saying a few more words: car, ball, Daddy (not Dada anymore!), and back (like "put it back").

Some big news for this month is that he is done with his pacifier!! Last week, I noticed that he had bitten a few holes in his beloved pacifier, so I decided that must mean it was time to get rid of it. So we took it away cold turkey. The first night was rough, but he did remarkably well after that.

Hooray for Spencer!!

Have I mentioned that this little guy LOVES, LOVES, LOVES books. He has recently started to babble in his own baby language while looking at his books and it sounds like he's reading them. So cute!!

Spencer's 1st Haircut

Well, we finally decided it was time to say goodbye to Spencer's sweet little curls. His hair was just getting out of control! We sat him down in his highchair and put on "Baby Signing Time".

 

He did pretty good sitting there for an eighteen month old!

Snow!!!

The first major snowstorm of the season is here--Winter Storm Jonas is it's name. School was cancelled yesterday and today in anticipation of the storm. We went out a little bit this morning, but it was REALLY cold and icy. Not really fun playing snow. I'm pretty sure we'll be snowed in all weekend. Good thing we got our bread, milk and eggs all ready to go!!

Family Temple Trip

On Tuesday, we headed to Apex, North Carolina for a quick overnight trip and a visit to the Raleigh, NC Temple. We arrived around 3:00pm and checked into our hotel. Shortly after that, we headed to the pool for a quick swim before going to dinner.

We went to "5 Guys" for dinner and then headed back to the hotel. The kids got ready for bed and Jason and I got ready to go to the temple. The temple is about 1 1/2 hours away and so it usually takes the majority of a day for us to attend. Sometimes that's difficult with kids. It was really nice to leave the kids in Kelsey's care at the hotel and drive just 10 minutes to the temple. Jason and I really enjoyed going to the temple together and having some time to ourselves for a few hours.

The next morning we ate breakfast at the hotel and then we drove back to the temple so the kids could walk around the grounds and take some pictures. About 2 minutes after we got there, a monsoon-type rainstorm poured down on us and we all got soaked to the bone.

It is definitely an experience we will never forget!!
