Inspired by my recent trip to South America, I have created a small collection of silver spiral earrings featuring ancient variety heirloom beans. 		<description>NARCISSUS

Narcissus communicates my self-interest which grew under the influence of isolation. 

The tragedy of Narcissus, who fell in love with his own reflection, resonates with my obsessive, compulsive fixation with my reflection in the mirror which always sits on my workbench.Through the repetition of my distorted eyes, which conceal the wearer’s face and ears, Narcissus symbolises a sensory disengagement with external bodies.

Ego: ’The part of the mind that mediates between the conscious and the unconscious and is responsible for reality testing and a sense of personal identity’.
 
Ego communicates the surreal experience of isolation and its impact upon the conscious mind. The gradual distortion of my eye to represents the dispersion of my identity; a product of my period of confinement.&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;

 Witness explores my observation of my fluctuating identities during lockdown.
 
Lack of external influence intensified my sense of self-awareness, including my visual image, my self-perception and my understanding of identity. Witness, in contrast to my other pieces, allows the wearer to see, achieving my objective of creating ‘awareness’ under the influence of my perspective.

Pessimist expresses my negative perspective during lockdown. 

Loneliness, lack of activity and loss of identity rendered my perspective considerably pessimistic. Inspired by the ‘weeping-Mary-aesthetic’, I have extended my iris and pupil to create the illusion of tears falling from multiple eyes, symbolising my resonance with the image of 'Our Lady of Sorrow’.
