In my on going attempt to keep our Road to Success program exciting and motivate the kids to read, I had 3 of the players from the Utah baseball team at the school yesterday. They read a story to the top classes from February and then went out to recess with some of them. They were great, and got a laugh out of all the kids questions.

The other day Elisabeth was making some craft project and watching television. He dad patiently watched with her for a while, then asked what he would have to do to be able to play on the PS3? She said she wanted to paint his toenails.... and he said yes! Yup, orange and hot pink! So cute!

Super Helpers...

Image
At school last week the 4th grade had a lesson about heroes and what kind of super heroes they are. The girls decided that they are SUPER HELPERS. They played it all afternoon, I wish I had a picture of there masks, and eating rasberries to get their super strength. But this is a picture of them being oh so helpful... they are asking Joey hundreds of questions while he fixes the plumbing.

Adoption...

I have all these thoughts, that inner blog dialogue thing again, about adoption this week. But I am going to try to make them short...
I am thankful that I have my brother and sister, and that I very seldom even think about the fact that they are adopted.
I am thankful that my husband has a father that adopted him as a little boy and that he is just his dad to him.
I am thankful that my cousin had a cute little one in their family even if it is only for moment.
I am thankful that a friend I grew up with recently adopted and now is pregnant.
And I am thankful for those mom's who are strong enough to give their babies to families that want them so desperately.

Ahhh...

After tomorrow I can take a breath, well just for minute, but still it will be nice.

Last weeks book fair went well, I felt like I didn't stop moving for 4 days. It was a buy-one-get-one-free sale and so most be are so excited for the great deals they get but you got those few yuckies who want to haggle and question you on everything! But being with the kids is so much fun and I LOVE our teachers and staff, and besides it is a great chance to socialize!

This week is meeting week and tonight was the big one! It was Parkside's turn to present at the Murray Board of Education, we all take one month and tell about what's happening at our school. Samuel's 11 year old Scout troop did the flag ceremony, and did a great job! And then the little 4th grade choir, mostly Elisabeth and friends, sand the National Anthem and our school song, so cute. The Board loved having the kids there. Eventually it was my turn and things went smooth. I told them about the PTA paying for Sealants for Smiles and sealing 333 teeth! Also about my Road to Success program, our Author's Fair and Student Leadership. I can't believe how fortunate we are to be at Parkside and in Murray. My heart goes out to our wonderful principal who is dealing so many family issues right now. I also love our district, really who can say they live in a district where the Superintendent knows you by name, where the Board can discuss house and issue that they have first had knowledge of and where you only have 10 schools and classrooms with, dare I say, around 25 kids!

Tomorrow is our Parkside PTA meeting, it should be interesting our two big expenditures for the year came in way over budget, and so tomorrow we will need to do some creative thinking to raise some funds!

We have delivered 95% of the Girl Scout cookies! I am so proud of Elisabeth she has done most of it by herself, I have even had to sneak some to deliver them because she doesn't want help. A year ago she would not have been has confident as she has been, she races up to each door talks to whomever answers, makes change, and organizes everything!

Samuel has had a rough week his yearly hacking cough is back and he has been so sick. He doesn't want to make up work so he drags himself to school each day, so yes I am the bad mother who's sends her sick kid to school, but I really don't want to have to help with all the makeup work either! I hope he gets better soon, maybe by tomorrow since it's ice skating day and and karate, and Friday is testing.

Monday night Elisabeth entertained us with another Taylor Swift imitation this one with full costume, the best part was when her friend Easton came in to pick up his cookies and stopped her dead in her tracks. Funny girl!

What's Running Through My Brain...

Like my cousin Laura, I usually have a narrative of my blog running through my brain, and like her lately I don't often take the time to unleash it. But inspired by her narrative about grapefruits here it goes.

EVERY night we fold laundry while watching television. EVERY night! And in the morning the hamper is full again, and the kids have clothes in the laundry basket downstairs. So how is that people ever can say, "I am caught up on my laundry?" I only have two kids for heaven sakes, and it never stops! So I told Miah that they should say, "There are actually 3 things that you can count on in life... death, taxes and LAUNDRY." A ironically enough the nightly heaping basket is waiting for me while I blog!

Another thing that you can count on is kids grow up! We had a visit last week with three darling little babies, and even though there is only 7 months between the oldest and youngest, it was crazy to see the changes! My little nephew Adrian is so tiny and cute, and then we put him by a newborn and wow he was huge! And then my cousins baby GQ laid by them and rolls and laughs and has so much personality! Here's a picture that show what I mean!

I have also been thinking so much about how quick life can take a turn. For the worse or better. A friend of Jeremiah's wife just gave birth to baby, and only a few hours later was in the hospital with major complications. With four other kids at home, I can't imagine how scared they are, thankfully she is doing better, finally, and will hopefully leave the ICU tomorrow. Love your family, you never know what is around the corner. This leads me to another recent rant of mine. Love you kids and hug them, and be glad if you give them an ordinary boring life! I talked with a 6th grader returning to our school the other day, great kid who doesn't always make great choices. But when I think of the things this kid has gone through I want to hug him and protect him and then do the same for my kids.

And now we're on to a crazy week... Starting off with Sharing Time, onto BOOK FAIR, meetings, meetings, meetings and then my turn to present at the Murray Board of Education. What a crazy ride, doesn't it seem that life comes in spurts.

Finally, Girl Scout cookies arrived tonight, they are in my family room. Even you have a burning desire to have them in the next couple days stop by, if not we will start delivering Friday after book fair is over. Elisabeth is so excited to sort and label, she must be her mothers child!

I think that emptied my brain, I guess I will go get to that laundry!
