Big Finish...

One of the big reasons I have fallen behind in my blogging (and everything else) was the planning of my year end assembly for Road to Success. I am still loving this program and I love being able to reward the kids for all there hard work with a really fun assembly. This year we did some "win in a minute" games, lots of give-a-ways and of course we had Chief. He was CRAZY! The kids had a ball, and although the kids who won the bikes look a little shocked in the pictures, they were very excited. We top it all off by having yummy CoeLen donuts for everyone. I was completely exhasted by the end of the day, and finally succumbed to a cold I had been fighting, but it is so worth it! Oh yea, and we didn't make our goal of 3 million minutes but we did read almost 2,800,00 minutes! Great job Panthers!

The Rigby Side of Things...

Image
One of the things I have loved about blogging and facebook is that I "talk" with my Rigby cousin more often! Last week my uncle Rod was in town so we all got together for dinner. Most of my cousins have little kids and we had a ball playing with them and visiting. It got me really excited for the family reunion we have planned in Island Park this summer.
(Can you believe that's not even all of us! I imagine my Grandma and Grandpa are smiling!)

Our cute little 6th grade girls have made Fridays RAINBOW day, and boy do they come up with some crazy outfits. Well they consider Elisabeth and her BFF to be Junior Rainbow girls and so when Elisabeth got this skirt she knew it would be perfect! She even colored her shoes (I bribed her a last week that she could do it if she took cough medicine) and asked for a funky hair do. She actually looked really cute and I am glad she is confident enough to do her own thing.

The Best Part of Turning 12...

On the more serious side Sam was excited to turn 12 and receive the priesthood in our church. It was such a neat day to have him ordained, I am proud of him for being a good kid and being excited for this big step. He is especially excited to serve sacrament, perform baptisms for the dead, attend young men's activities and NO more Primary. This last Sunday was his first time passing the sacrament and even with a little confusion and nervousness he did great. We love you Sam.

Sam's 12th Birthday... Part 2

We gave Sam a new NERF gun (it much more fun to have 2) and a cool tye-die shirt.

Well Sam's birthday was a pretty low key thing this year, so we let him have a sleepover with his good friend Josh to celebrate. They had a great time hanging out until 3am and then playing all day the next day. Elisabeth gave Sam a Shaun White wii game and Josh, ha ha, gave him his gift in a Victoria's Secret bag, and told us he was going to get a bra, but his mom wouldn't let him. (instead it was LEGOS) We are lucky to have Josh around, he and Sam are good friends to each other. On Sunday we had the family over to celebrate, Sam chose to have brats and burgers, we also had yummy wonton and strawberry/banana salad. Elisabeth even made Sam's favorite chocolate cake with Grandma Bonnie's famous marshmallow frosting.

He also got a great mountain bike from Grandma and Grandpa Rigby, but unfortunately he hasn't got to ride it much because of the rain.

Joe & Randi gave him his new favorite game: Little Big Planet.

The Wizard of Oz...

ImageIn the craziness of the last two weeks I failed to blog about Elisabeth's ballet performance! As usual The Children's Ballet Theater put on a beautiful show. She danced three nights this year, and longs to be a "company dancer" who dance every night in several pieces. On Tuesday she performed her ballet piece where they were fire burning the Wicked Witch (yes, we asked the same question, wasn't it water?) and on Wednesday and Friday she was a darling villager in the land of Oz for character. She loved every minute of it, and she took these pictures backstage. Hopefully, I will soon have picture in costume to post!
ImageI have no idea what she is doing here, but it is one of the few pictures that include herself.

ImageThey shared the dressing room with the little crows, on Wednesday she was excited because Ellie and Annie were there, my cousins little girls.

Turning 12...

ImageImage

Some how in a blink of an eye this chubby little boy turned into a 12 year old preteen. I can't say that things have always come easy for Sam, but he has come a long way! This year he has really done a great job at school getting straight A's, Honors and zero absences for the first time.
I am pretty sure he grows by the minute. And his grandpa can vouch for the fact that he has two hollow legs and can eat ALL the time. He is kind and a good friend, and gross and obnoxious too.
He is looking forward to being 12 so that he can:
Graduate from Primary!
Sit in the front seat officially!
Go on week long Scout outings!
Receive the Priesthood!
Do baptisms for the dead.
Go to Young Men's!
Junior High! (Scary)
And maybe have a cell phone!

For his birthday he took "CoeLen donuts" to school, which was a big hit! Got kicked in the head in honor of his birthday at karate. Had his dad's homemade spaghetti for dinner. And opened a couple present from mom, dad and Elisabeth, including a NERF gun, new book and Shaun White game. We finished off the night by looking at the scrapbook from when he was a baby, and that got me thinking about all these pictures, so here they are.

Yesterday we spent the day with my niece and her new husband celebrating their new marriage! It was such a beautiful day, the ceremony in the Salt Lake Temple was perfect, tons of people came to their reception (which by the way was at the best place their is to have a wedding :), the flowers were beautiful, the cake was beautiful, the bridesmaids and groomsmen looked so good, and if I do say so myself my niece Arica was GORGEOUS! And Taylor wasn't looking pretty sharp himself. Congratulations you two, you are a darling couple with so much adventure in you! And welcome to the crazy family Taylor.

** Best quote of the day: At the wedding luncheon the siblings did a top ten reasons why it's great that Arica and Taylor are getting married. Zac: "I get a brother!" So cute!
