Just something random

http://www.hgtv.com/love-it-or-list-it/show/index.html

Today my back was hurting quite a bit because I just had to finish some landscaping in the front yard.  Could I have gotten the kids to do all of it, yes.  But I wanted it to look just the right way, so I did some of it myself, and get to pay the price because of it.  Oh well, in a month or two it will look great!  Anyway, here is the reason I'm blogging today.  I am stuck on the couch (because of the bad back) and I was watching HGTV.  Now with that said, there used to be a show that I liked called Love it or List it.  But now it just really annoys me!  It's the same show formula each and every time.  However, there was one episode that just took the cake for me!  Here is the story.

There is a family living in a very modest sized older home with 3 children.  The mom explains that she is pregnant, and that the house is already to small for them now.  So the show goes around the house and the mom explains all of the problems.  The first thing I see is clutter EVERYWHERE!  And trash, dirty dishes, laundry....  Holy cow people!  And somehow she thinks that getting a bigger house will solve their problems. Well, here's a news flash for you, you will only have more space for all the clutter to grow in!

Okay, so now the part that shocked me.  The husband was talking about all the projects around the house, and there are a lot!  I almost felt bad for the guy, until he said that painting a room is just way too much work.  So they asked him to just paint the door, and he seemed overwhelmed by that!  REALLY?  Why on earth would you even attempt to own a house if you are that totally lazy?  When you own a house, there are always jobs to do for upkeep.  Especially if you share that house with kids!  That's just life.

Oh, and the thing that annoys me most of all, the creative math that the Realtor in the show uses.  For example, the original home is worth $215,000.  They put in $15,000 for remodeling.  But here is the clincher, they want the Realtor to look at homes in the $300-$325,000 range.  Really?  If you can afford that, and you really want to stay in your same home, like you claim, then pony up!  Give them a real budget to get what you want!

Okay, I think I'm done. :-)  Just wanted to share that with the world for no apparent reason.

Prom

Okay, how is it possible that Eric is old enough to go to Prom?  Crazy!  He and his date, Devere, and another couple started the day going over to Kathy and Todd's theater room to watch Captain America, then they went over to my in-laws to play ping pong.  Meanwhile, I went to pick up their Subway orders.  After lunch, they all went home to get ready.  Then got together about 5:00 for pictures.  Then headed over to Jason's house to have a very fancy homemade meal.  Then.... off to Prom.  Devere's dress was so beautiful!  And Eric looked so handsome!  They really had a fun night! Oh, and one very awesome addition to their party was Devere's brother who played the roll of chauffeur for the night.  How cute is that?

Life just never gets boring

First the good news.  Everything checked out with my second mammogram.  Sigh of RELIEF!!!! It was a rather terrifying experience, but at least it's over.

Now the bad news, apparently I have something called post ablation syndrome.  I tried taking a hormone to stop the problems, but they aren't working anymore.  So now, I have to have a hysterectomy.  NOT FUN!!!!  I have to find someone really good before I go under the knife.  Yikes.  Oh well, just another thing for me to just roll with.

Mammogram

Image
So last week I went in for my very first mammogram. They did two views of each breast. And I have to say, there was only one time that it truly hurt! So I counted to see how long it would last, and it was only 7 seconds. Not too bad. And the place that I went runs like a well oiled machine. I went 15 minutes early to check in and all of that (and because I have OCD when it comes to being early). They actually had me out of there 10 minutes after my appointment time. Impressive.

But last night they called and said they needed another view! Okay, this could mean a huge variety of things. They might not have gotten a clear enough image, or missed some, or there is something there that they want a better view of....etc..... Enough possibilities to make my head spin, especially since I had an aunt die in her 40's of breast cancer. I realize, coming in for another view is quite common and in the vast majority of cases, there are no problems. But here is the kicker, I can't get in for another view for 2 weeks. So I just have to stop obsessing in the meantime. Not easy for someone paranoid and seriously NOT patient. Hummmm.
