We had a wonderful Christmas this year. My parents and Travis came up from Texas. We spent Christmas day at Malinda's in Rexburg. Jake wasn't really into upwrapping presents, he just wanted to play. He was also very interested in what he cousins were getting for Christmas. We sure had a fun Christmas!

This year we bought Jake snowpants and snowboots so he could play in the snow. He loved being all buddled up and didn't want to take his snowclothes off once we were back in the house. He is such a cutie!

Jake loves the music in church

Yesterday in church, Jake did some funny things. Everytime the music would stop (after the prelude music, right before the prayer and right before the sacrament), Jake would start clapping and yelling "Yeeeeaaaa!" He does that at home at the end of a cartoon or the end of a song on the radio, but that was a first in church. We thought it was pretty cute.

Thanksgiving

It has been a while since I have posted anything on our blog. We have been really busy going out of town to Utah, then to Boise for Thanksgiving. And now we are all sick with colds, that seem to be hanging around for over a week. Other than the colds we are doing good. We had a great Thanksgiving with Aaron's family. We came home to lots of snow and it just keeps on snowing.

"Cheese"

I thought this was so cute. Jake has learned to say "cheese" when we take his picture. He is such a funny little guy. He loves to wear is sunglasses.

Cute Little Boy

The top picture is right before nap time, Jake wanted to cuddly and watch Rollie Pollie Ollie. I just thought the picture turned out really sweet. The second picture is of Jake playing peek-a-boo while he is wearing his daddy's hat. Jake just loves to run and play. He just has so much energy. He is talking more and more. It is fun to hear him copy things Aaron and I say. He sure keeps us entertained!

Chicken Little

Image The first picture is from the ward party last week, Jake doesn't look too happy to be having his picture taken. The other 2 pictures are from tonight.
We had a really fun evening at the Karpowitz cousin's house in Rexburg. We all went trick or treating then had dinner together. Jake seemed to really have a good time. He was a little hyper the whole evening, way too much candy. What a fun holiday!!!

Fall Fun

Jake had a great time playing in the leaves. During Aaron's lunch break we let Jake play in the leaves while we tried to take some pictures of him. He didn't hold still for very long. Jake just loves being outside. Last week he even starting saying "ou-side" as he is trying to open the front door. He still hasn't figured out how to open doors, which hopefully won't happen for a while.

18 Months

Image
Image
Image
Today Jake is 18 months old. I cannot believe how fast time has gone by. It seems like it took forever to get him here and now time is flying by. It is so bitter sweet to see Jake grow up. I want him to stay my "baby", but it is so exciting to see him learn and develop. I guess that is why our parents didn't stop after just having one child. It is amazing to think how much he has changed in the last 6 months. He is talking more and more and loves to play. He loves to play with his cars and trucks. He will hide his car and say "where car go?" It is so cute. Aaron and I just love hearing his cute little voice. Jake still loves nursery and is getting more involved with the songs. He even started rolling his arms like we do to the song "the wheels on the bus". He does it anytime of day, which translates as "mommy, start singing the song". He'll get mad if I don't! We are still working on the actions to the other verses. Jake is becoming such a little boy and he looked like such a missionary today in his church clothes. Aaron even took some pictures with his old mission name tag on. Only 17 1/2 more years and Jake will be serving a mission. I know that will happen much sooner than I like to think about. I just had to take a minute to brag about my baby. We love him so!!!

A near "stitches" experience

Image
At about 11:55 a.m., shortly before Jacob was about to make it through sacrament meeting with only one little diaper break, something drastic happened. He was sitting on Daddy's lap, playing with a little toy car. He accidently dropped the car to the ground. Without any warning, Jake quickly dove forward to go for the car. As he flew toward the ground, his forehead struck the flat portion of the back of the pew in front of him, apparently catching on the fabric. He immediately screamed out. As daddy picked him up and went for the door, it was quickly apparent that there was a gash, between 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch, right above his eyebrow, and it was fairly deep. Daddy turned around at the door and signaled that Mommy better join them in the hall. In the hall, the wound began to bleed, and Daddy took him into the bathroom to try and wash it a bit and slow the bleeding. He really didn't cry very long, except for when we were wiping at the wound to clean the blood up. We quickly went to a local urgent care clinic and saw a doctor. He gave us the choice of doing nothing, using super glue, or stitching it up. He said, if it were his kid, he'd glue it up. So, that's what we did. He screamed while we held him still, but overall, did pretty well. The nurse gave him a bright blue sucker and a toy, which made him pretty happy. And, she reminded us, it definitely won't be the last time we take him into a clinic. Anyway, it all worked okay, and could have been much worse. He's still such a cutie.

Funny boy!

Image
I went to go get Jake out of his crib after his nap and he had pulled his arm through the top of his shirt. I thought it was kind of funny. My brothers use to always do that too.

Big Day!

Image
Image
This past Thursday Aaron was sworn in before the Idaho Supreme Court and the Federal Court and is now officially an attorney. It was a really busy day, but it was also very exciting. I am very proud of Aaron and all his hard work. I didn't get very many good pictures but here is one of us all together.

Nursery

Jake did soemthing really cute during nursery last Sunday that we wanted to share. It was singing time and all the little kids where sitting in their chairs. Jake got off his chair and walked over to stand right in front of a little cute little girl named Joy. He just stood there in front of her holding onto her hands. Then all of the sudden he leaned in and kissed her. Aaron and I thought it was so cute and we were glad we were ther to see it! We told Jake not be kissing anymore girls for a long time, except mommy!

Broccoli

Tonight at dinner Jacob decided that he likes broccoli. We were so excited that he is eating a vegetable and liking it. Sometimes he can be such a good eater, than sometimes he won't eat anything but crackers. He loves having his picture taken. We thought it was pretty cute when he starting covering his face from the camera. Maybe we are taking too many pictures ... nah!

Little Update

We had a great weekend together for Labor Day. I loved having Aaron home from work yesterday. We went to a BBQ at my sister's in Rexburg. It was such great fun and Jacob loved running around the back yard. He loves playing with his cousins and I know they love having him around. I love being close to Malinda, so we can get together often. I am so lucky to have my sister as a best friend. We hope that are kids will always be close too.

Aaron's job is going well. We are both liking the fact that he is home by 5:30 and doesn't have to study anymore!!! We have the whole evening to spend as a family. It is great. Last week we went on a bike ride around the river by the temple and downtown Idaho Falls. We are getting to know some more people on our ward. Aaron and I have been called to serve in the nursery in our ward. So Jacob is now going to nursery at 16 months old. He is loving it. His first day he didn't even notice we were both still in there. He was just having such a good time with all the different toys. That kid has so much energy!
