Austin Douglas

On December 28, 2006, Aaron and I checked in the hospital at 7:30. We filled out all the paper work and I changed into my hospital gown and got all hooked up to the monitors. A little before 9:00 am Dr Rudeen come in and broke my water. Aaron and I started walking the halls of the hospital. At this point my contractions were about 4 to 5 minutes apart. After an hour of walking we back to the room to rest. I was still doing okay with the contractions, but the nurse said the anesthesiologist was available now if I wanted my epidural. If I waited he may not be available right away. So I decided to have my epidural. I was glad I did, it still took the anesthesiologist 45 minutes before he came to my room. By then I was really ready to be more comfortable. I was really comfortable for a while then around 2:30 I was really starting to feel the contractions again. I told the nurse and she checked me. To my surprise I was fully dilated. The nurse went and called the doctor. The doctor got there and after 10 minutes of pushing Austin was born at 3:03 in the afternoon. I couldn't believe how much shorter this delivery went. Aaron and I were just so happy to see our new little boy. It was such an amazing day! It is hard to believe that our little Austin is already turning one! I love him so much!!

Merry Christmas

We had such a wonderful Christmas this year. We spent Christmas day at our house. This was our second Christmas morning waking up in our own home and I really like doing that. The boys opened presents around 8 and it was so much fun to watch their excitement.

Grandpa Seable gave Austin a candy cane and he was in heaven. Austin usually will not sit still, but I guess a candy cane will do the trick. Image

Teeth

Image
I looked in Austin's mouth the other day and discovered he has 2 new molars. So now he has a total of 7 teeth. Doesn't that seem like a lot for an 11 month old? I can't believe how fast he is growing. In just a couple of weeks he will be one! I don't think he is will be walking by his first birthday. Just this week he is starting to try and stand on his own. He is such a fast crawler, so I don't think he has much desire to walk. And it also doesn't help that Jake pushes him down every time he tries to stand. Poor little guy.

Oh boy!

Jake was quiet the handful this past weekend. It all started out Friday night when he was in the tub and decided to dump buckets of water onto the floor. You may ask where his parents were . We were just a couple feet away in the living room visiting with Aaron's parents. We heard splashing from Jake but thought that was pretty normal. When Aaron went to check on him the bathroom floor was covered with water and so was the hallway carpet. We used all of our towels to clean up the mess and then had a fan on the carpet for 2 days. Saturday was a much better day. I took Jake to get his haircut and to my surprise he was so good. Jake hates getting his haircut and throws a huge fit every time. I couldn't believe it. This time he sat in the chair so still and behaved. It was a miracle. And his haircut looks pretty cute too! Sunday morning went okay. Aaron had a couple of meetings and I was trying to finish preparing my gospel doctrine lesson. Jake was into his normal trouble. I think he broke couple of ornaments off the tree. Everything else went okay till we made it to church. Jake and I were walking in during the opening song and trying to find a seat. I wasn't holding onto Jake's hand, which ending up being a mistake. All of the sudden he took off to the front of the chapel. I did not want to chase him, because I knew that we would end up running in circles. I was so embarrassed. I tried catching him, but I was not having any success. Finally someone stopped him so I could catch up with him. I took him straight out in the hall so we could have a "little talk". I was so just so frustrated and embarrassed. Jake can be such a handful, but he is also such a sweet boy. I love him so much, even though he can drive me crazy. I think being the mother of a 3 1/2 year old boy is exhausting!

Happy Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful thanksgiving. We spent the day with Aaron's family. I really meant to take more pictures, but I guess I forgot. Aaron's mom reserved the church building for the day. It gets really hard for everyone to get together at Aaron's parent's house, so this give us tons of room.

ImageJake eating his Thanksgiving dinner. Yes, that is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Jake is such a picky eater, he wouldn't eat anything.

preschool

Back in August Jake was tested through the school district for his speech and language development. It was a very long process of many more tests and even having Jake visit a preschool class for a week to be evaluated. Last month I met with a vice principal, a special education teacher, a speech therapist, and a psychologist about Jake's testing. They determined that Jake is a little delayed in his cognitive and language development, but they have a great plan on how to get him ahead. So now Jake is attending preschool 2 times a week in the mornings. I am really excited about this program and I think it will be great for Jake. SO far he is loving it. Here are a couple of pictures from his first day.

On the first day when I picked Jake up his teacher said that as the other kids were getting on the bus, Jake waved and said "bye friends". I just thought that was too cute!

6 things

I've been tagged by Crystal, so here goes.

The rules:
A. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning.B. Each player lists 6 facts/habits about themselves.C. At the end of the post, the player then tags 6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

1) I still have tons of clothes I wore in high school hanging in my closet. I really need to donate them to DI. They are too small and not really in style anymore. I guess I just don't want to let go of the younger, skinnier me.

2) I am the queen of unfinished projects. I seem to always start new projects and never finish them. I have a quiet book that I started for Jake when he was 15 months old that still isn't finished. I painted the boys bathroom in March and left a little around the door unpainted when I ran out of painters tape. I have since bought the painters tape, but have yet to get the paint out and take 15 minutes to finish the job. For Christmas this year I am making quilts for the boys, when I told Aaron about it he joked around with me about when I would finish them. He said something like maybe for graduation or wedding presents for them someday. I am going to prove him wrong and I am determined to finish these quilts. (I actually worked on them this morning!) This is a habit I would really like to break. So I don't want to start anymore projects. I love the feeling of finishing a project and being able to check it off my list.

3) I hate folding laundry. I don't mind washing and drying, but then the clean clothes pile up on my couch or sit in a laundry basket all day or some days for a couple of days. I wish I could just get them folded and all put away.

4) I love being pregnant! I loved getting a big belly. My stomach will never be the same, but it was so worth it! When I finally got pregnant with Jake I was just so grateful and excited to finally be having a baby. Both my boys are total miracles.

5) When I was growing up my three brothers drove me crazy. They were so loud and always teasing me. I would always say when I grow up I am having all girls. I have to laugh about this, since so far I have all little boys!

6) Some days I can't believe that I live in Idaho. Not that it is a bad thing! Growing up I never would have guessed that I would marry a guy from Idaho and end up living here. Until I went to Ricks College I had never even been in the state of Idaho. I only wish now that Idaho were closer to Texas or even better that we lived in Texas!

OK, I tag Malinda, Melanie, Lisa, and Michelle!

Happy Halloween - a day late!

I just wanted to share a few pictures from yesterday. We took the boys to our wards trunk or treat. Jake had a great time and got plenty of candy.
Image ImageJake wanted to be Dash for Halloween. Aaron had the idea of using Jake's pj's that we already had, so it made Jake costume effortless. That works for me!
Image We had such a hard time trying to get a pictures of the boys together. They just didn't want to hold still.
ImageMy cute little Austin. He started clapping yesterday and it was just so cute. He is such a happy little guys. I had to include a picture of his new trick. I sure love this little guy!Image

Our busy week

My mom came to visit for a few days last week. Monday was my birthday so we had lots of celebrating to do. I was so glad to spend a few days with my mom. Like always her visit went by too fast, but we did have a great time. We tried to pack in as much as we could into the 3 days she was here. ImageFor my birthday my mom took me The Cheesecake Factory for lunch. We had such a good time and the food was delicious. I left the boys with a friend, so it was such a special treat to have some time for myself on my birthday.ImageImageOpening presents - Jake has such a mean face it makes me laugh.ImageAustin and his grandma. Image
Before taking my mom to the airport on Wednesday we went to the Discovery Center in Boise. We had never been before and I wasn't sure how much Jake would get out of it, but he had a great time. I am not sure it was completely worth the cost of admission, but we did have a good time. ImageJake liked playing in the kids market. The little shopping carts were so cute. I think he would have had more fun with other kids instead of mom, dad, and grandma. But we had a fun time playing with him. ImageImageImage

Jake loved blowing huge bubbles.

9 month pictures

Last week I took Austin to JCPennys to get his pictures taken. I thought we got some cute ones. They took tons of pictures. The pictures I are ordered are just the traditional color without any enhancements, which with my coupon were $4.99 a sheet. To get a black & white or sepia or any other enhancement they started a $14.99 a sheet. Which I think is kinda stupid, since it isn't that hard to click a button to change the picture to black & white. But I am still happy with the job JCPennys did. Enjoy the pictures of my little Austin!ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

I have like 2 huge scrapbooks for the first year of Jake's life. Since Austin was born I have done like 1 page for his book. So I am trying to catch-up. Last weekend I pulled out all my scrapbooking stuff and attempted to get some pages done. For me it is hard to scrapbook at home, but I did get a couple of pages done. Here are a couple I worked on. Sorry the pictures aren't that clear. I should have taken them out of the page protectors.ImageImageImage
