Goodbye Old Friend

ImageWell, today marks a new era of my life. Today was the last day I used my old trusty Motorola Q phone. The Q, if anything, was a practical phone. It had many functional features that I used to the fullest throughout the 3 years I've had it. And the two games it had--Bubble Breaker and Solitaire--they really delivered every time I was bored or needed a distraction. Though Solitaire is an old favorite of mine, Bubble Breaker was the Q's brightest shining star. I played Bubble Breaker on this phone 13814 times. That's right, nearly 14 THOUSAND TIMES folks. This phone has got me through some tough times.

To my Q: I'm sorry for dropping you on the ground in the rain. You never dropped my calls because of your reliable network. When no one else at the Zermatt had service, you were there for me. I'm sorry I scratched your screen over 2 years ago. I didn't realize that the bottom of my purse was such a dangerous place for you, and I certainly didn't think we'd be together this long. You've been there for me through 4 versions of the iPhone, 2 versions of the Droid, and countless other flashier phones on the market. Thanks for the memories.

But it's time for me to move on.

With some serious reservations, I'm headed into unchartered territory here with my new service provider, but I'm happy to have a shiny new phone. I am ready to fall in love all over again.

A little FaceTime, anyone?? :)

Loving this....

I read an interview of the director of this video. He said to do the video justice, you should watch it full screen with your speakers or headphones turned up loud. I totally agree!

This is not earth shattering news...

...but, as my friend Shannon says, it's for your "gee-whiz file." Again, not that its super important, but i think i was just the last person tImageo figure this out:

Ditsy Cheerio Brittany from Glee got her start as one Beyonce's Single Ladies dancers. She wasn't in the official music video, but she did tons of appearances with Beyonce--the AMA's (video below), SNL, the Today show, and Beyone's world tour. I guess I get old news when I let all my issues of Entertainment Weekly pile up!

Only one more new episode of Glee this season! :(

my scary-looking fingers

So this is why my hand has been hurting inside my cast since surgery--the giant pins! I still have the pins in my hand for another three weeks, but i got a new hard cast today. I just hope my fingers go back to normal after this is all over...I would hope that nearly 10 grand buys me straight fingers.Image

Lots of Firsts

I dont know what it is about the last couple of months...but i am 29 years old and still doing a lot of things for the first time in my life! Maybe buying my first home triggered something.

ImageFirst time snorkeling--I went on a cruise and we had an excursion in Cozumel Mexico. LOVED IT! I definitely want to go back to this awesome beach.
A tip for next time I snorkel--I'm going to buy a disposable underwater camera. I am kicking myself that i couldn't capture the beauty.

ImageFirst time I've won 3rd place in the cruise's karaoke contest! Totally won this crappy swag bag! Not a great prize...but it was still fun. The 1st place winner was a professional singer and 2nd place went to a redneck girl who couldn't sing at all but was writhing around on the ground while singing Like a Virgin. Yeah...3rd place is fine with me!

ImageFirst helicopter ride--from Vegas, over Hoover Dam. Went with some great work people. This first was closely followed by...

ImageFirst time in the grand canyon! Then this first was followed by.....first time puking in a helicopter! Yep, first time ever using an air-sick bag on the ride back! Super fun!

And lastly, first broken bone(s) I've ever had!
I was helping my niece Emily learn to ride her bike without training wheels, running beside her. I stumbled a little and while I was catching myself, Emily started to fall over. I went to help her so she wouldnt crash (she was headed for my car) and i tripped again, over her bike! I had an epic slow-motion fall to the ground, unable to stop from flying forward, and fell in a very unfortunate position with two fingers totally broken! So now I've had my first broken bones, my first surgery, and my first cast! Five more weeks with a right hand in a cast....ugh! what a pain!!

funny notes

Found on my 3-year old niece's door (written by her 5-year old sister for her):ImageI saw this awhile ago and laughed so hard. First of all--I think we should all start spelling disturb as "disturv." It just seems more descriptive somehow.

Second of all, I love it when people leave notes like this to dictate to others the behavior we'd prefer. I am sure that I am guilty of leaving a passive aggressive note or two in my day (both as a child and well....more recently...when you have college roommates sometimes it is necessary!). It's just hilarious when people will write but would never say outloud. If you enjoy this kind of painfully awkward mode of communication you have to check out this blog: http://www.passiveaggressivenotes.com/
