Even in the rain

After 10 weeks of drought we finally have had rain. Yesterday and most of today we have had a steady rain. At times it has been quite heavy. So today we spent the day inside relaxing and watching the hummingbirds fly in and out to the feeders. Occasionally they will sit.

Coyote.

This coyote was photographed in and open field south of Ashland at midday. It was hunting it's way east toward WI Hwy 112. Once it spotted me it made a quick retreat toward the west stopping occasionally to look back over it's shoulder at me.

These three yearling deer were grazing with their mom. This photo was taken today within the city limits.

More aerial activity. Gypsy Moth Suppression Project.

These planes are part of a group of six aerial spraying planes flying out of Ashland's airport. For several days they will be dispersing biological controls (pheremones) to distrupt the male Gypsy Moth from locating the females and hence disrupt reproduction.

Hummingbirds

These photos were taken at a lakeside cottage near Stone Lake WI. There were six feeders hanging from an overhead deck. There was a constant flow in and out of twelve plus humming birds at one point we counted thirteen birds feeding at the same time.

11:00 P.M. still 90 degrees.

Very hot day for most. Some were lucky enough to have central air. Some were lucky enough to spend time at the beach. Others still had to work. This is a tough job on a cool day. But today...well the term hell comes to mind.

Hot, hot day in Ashland. These photos were taken just before sunset at "The Bandshell". This is a yearly event that goes on all weekend. Food, music, sporting events, and vendors. Oh! and beer from the local brew pub. Tonight's activity featured a local band and a beautiful cool breeze.

Lawnmower.

To quote this young owner....Fun! Fun! Fun!

If we had had any additional questions about how happy this toy lawnmower made it's new owner those questions were laid to rest the next day when his Dad told him it was bedtime and to give 'hugs and kisses' he did just that, he bent over and gave his new lawnmower a big hug. Priceless!
