Toolkit Interview # 01

Context Mapping Toolkit Session

Date: 2017.11.05

  1. How did you feel about the overall toolkit activity?

I was busy during the assigned week, so I kind of had to rush the journals. However, it was in general fun to do. I usually don’t write diaries or journals, so this was a new experience for me. I didn’t have a chance to sit down and really think about myself recently. Through this toolkit, I could have a time to look back at myself.

  1. What were the difficulties while you were working on the toolkit?

For me, the journals had very limited instructions, so coming up with ideas to write about was very difficult. Maybe, it’s because I haven’t been writing diaries for so long. I am not usually not a creative person, and it has been so long since I created anything. Even though the instruction told me to not feel pressured, I did feel pressured to come up with something creative.

I also had difficulties dealing with photographs. I am not a good photographer, so a lot of the times the photos were blurry. Also, I wanted to take photos of other people, but it was difficult to do so.

  1. As a Korean woman in 50s, do you have any worries or difficulties in your life?

There are a lot. Starting from health issues, I always worry about my children, the international affairs and the continuous threats, money, and etc. As for myself, I am always thinking about how to become a better person.

Context Mapping 2017

Silver Lining

We use the term silver lining when you want to emphasize the hopeful side of a situation that might seem gloomy on the surface. The common expression “every cloud has a silver lining” means that even the worst events or situations have some positive aspect.

Silver is also a commonly used adjective for elderly people. We wish to find some clever ways to show silver lining to the silver generation, hence chose ‘silver lining’ as the title of the project.

Following is the link to the presentation of our project. It will cover the overview of the context of our project and how the toolkits will be utilized in order to collect data.
