Welcome to my little journal!
I post about what I've been reading or watching and stuff about my personal life (usually achievements and updates). All of my fandom stuff are public, while nearly all of my personal posts are limited to friend access. I'm pretty quiet on here but I do check my reading page regularly, and I hope to get better with commenting this year.
Interests
I'm a big reader of fantasy and science fiction, but I enjoy reading other genres from time to time. Some of my favorite books/series are The Locked Tomb by Tamsyn Muir, Imperial Radch by Ann Leckie, Paladin of Souls by Lois McMaster Bujold, Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeires by Heather Fawcett, and The Southern Reach by Jeff VanderMeer.
I love reading light novels, manga and manhwa and I have a horrible addiction to transmigration/villainess series and I cannot stop reading them! Currently my favorite series are 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy! by Touko Amekawa, The Perks of Being an S-Class Heroine by Irinbi and The Perks of Being a Villainess by Manggo Kim (yes, I'm aware the names are confusing!). I'm also a big fan of The Apothecary Diaries by Natsu Hyuuga and Witch Hat Atelier by Kamome Shirahama.
I'm a casual mobile game player. Honkai Star Rail's my main game but I also play other games Arknights, Granblue Fantasy, etc, though on an irregular basis.
I watched Buffy The Vampire Slayer for the first time last year, and I absolutely adore it. I can't believe I've been missing out on this! I also like watching K-dramas, though I admit I'm fairly behind on them. Some of my favorites are Beyond Evil, Business Proposal, Flower to Evil, Alchemy of Souls, and Hotel del Luna.
Friend policy
I am open to any friend request, just add me and I'll add you back! I'd appreciate it if you let me know via a comment here or elsewhere so I can add you back.

Legends of the Condor Heroes: The Gallants
Mar. 5th, 2025 10:18 pmMy family were pretty excited about the movie, mainly because they're big fans of Xiao Zhan. We're from the same city, so there's pretty fierce local pride. I managed to watch it yesterday so I could talk about it with my family.

[Icons] G-Dragon
Mar. 4th, 2025 04:17 amI haven't been into K-pop for a while, but my Youtube algorithm recently showed me G-Dragon's performance at 2024 MAMA. His star power is unmatched! I just had to make some icons to celebrate his comeback.

Buffy Sequel
Feb. 4th, 2025 11:35 am....Well, huh. I didn't expect them to do a Buffy sequel. I have mixed feelings on this, namely that I don't think I've watched any successful reboot/sequel series to date and I'm not sure if this can break the curse. I also really liked the 22 episode formula of Buffy, because it allowed everyone to have their screen time and get truly attached to characters, and made for some fun interactions with other characters people don't usually interact with (Spike and Joyce was always a joy and I loved seeing Buffy and Tara). You just don't get that with short seasons.
I guess what I'm mostly worried about is them ruining older Buffy. I always wanted her to be happy in the show. Let her retire from being an active Slayer, have some dogs or something, and be completely happy with her quiet and peaceful life without anything knocking her down!
I'm happy Joss Whedon's not involved in the show at least. Surprised about Chloe Zhao's involvement, but I hope that's a good thing. I'm not familiar with Nora Zuckerman and Lilla Zuckerman, so hopefully they are good writers who understand Buffy.
I'll really try my best to be cautiously optimistic about this, I hate being a doomsayer and I'd love to be proven wrong about my misgivings.

Apothecary Diaries Friday
Jan. 17th, 2025 10:44 pmHappy Apothecary Diaries Friday again!
I bought the Barnes and Noble special edition of the manga's volume 1 yesterday. The color insert pages are very pretty. More importantly, the special edition sticker is removable! Hooray for the small things.

Jan. 12th, 2025 03:46 pmWhat I managed to do last week...
This week's tasks:
- Finished revising my resume for an industry and sent a few applications.
- Signed up for some informational and career advice sessions in an industry.
- Finished building my storage cart and a plant shelf, so now I'm slightly more organized.
- I'm still working on the smut WIP. I don't know how but it doubled in size.
- Sorted my physical books in keep and unwanted groups.
This week's tasks:
- Keep sending job applications.
- Revise my resume for another industry.
- Donate my old clothes.
- List my unwanted books for sale. I'm not sure where people sell their books now, Mercari? Ebay? A lot of them are special editions, so I'd like to at least get back some money...
- Keep reorganizing my closet.
- Sort my figures in in the closet in keep and unwanted groups.
- Email an organization about volunteering.
- Finish my smut WIP!
Share your favourite piece of original canon.
We all have a favourite piece of original canon. Maybe that's a particular episode of a show, maybe a specific scene, maybe a whole storyline. Maybe it's one of those but from a movie. Maybe a comic, and you have a favourite piece of art. Maybe it's a chapter or a character in a book, or a song from a musical. Anything goes.
These kind of questions always have me stumped for an answer, because it's so hard to choose one. I feel like a parent being asked to choose their favorite child!
So, to simplify this, my favorite canon of 2024 was Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
My Hulu subscription was expiring and I've never seen the show so I decided to give it a try. I was curious about what's so good about the show that it became such an influential figure in pop culture. It rightfully deserves that position! There's many things that doesn't hold up very well nowadays, but overall the show holds up really well.
As to when exactly did I fall in love with this show... There were a lot to like in Season 1, "I may be dead, but I'm still pretty" is iconic, but Season 2 solidified the show's position as one of my favorites.
The scene of Buffy shooting the Judge with a bazooka is one of my all time favorite moments in the series. The whole episode Innocence was great, really.
I didn't care much about Angel in Season 1, but the Angelus plotline was fantastic. The scene where Giles found Jenny dead was very hard to watch.
Season 2 also introduced Drusilla and Spike, two of my favorite characters. I loved Spike from the moment he ran over the Sunnydale sign! Drusilla and Spike had such a fun Bonnie-and-Clyde relationship in the season. I ended up becoming a Spuffy shipper later on but still.
I am SO disappointed we didn't get more of Ethan Rayne in the series. Halloween was such a fun episode, and I think the show would have benefited from keeping him and his chaotic antics around longer.
Buffy herself was amazing in Season 2. I already liked her a lot in Season 1, but her character arc exploring her trauma from her first death and her accepting her role as Slayer despite her desires for a normal life made me fall in love with her. She's amazing!

Apothecary Diaries Friday
Jan. 10th, 2025 06:07 pmHappy Apothecary Diaries Friday! The anime's season 2 started airing today, and it's good to have it back.
( Thoughts on Episode 25 as a LN reader )
The light novel's volume 13 was also released today, so it's a double Apothecary Diaries day for me. Unfortunately, I can't read it right away because I currently have 4 library loans I need to return soon. Argh.
Funny thing, when I got the notification my preorder was now available, I also got a library notification saying a hold was ready to borrow now. Amazing inconvenient timing.

Caleb's Back!
Jan. 10th, 2025 04:07 pmWell, Caleb's finally announced! I'm actually not a huge fan of the military uniform... Really hope his other clothes are better.
I'm not a huge Caleb stan, but I like his design, I like that he's a pilot, and I'm really curious what he's been up to after his first appearance in the story. I'm really looking forward to seeing him again, and see if he can maybe dethrone Rafayel as my favorite. I doubt it though.
January 22 is so far away, how am I supposed to wait that long?
Interestingly enough, they didn't announce Pulse Hunter in the livestream. I really hope that's coming as well, because I saved up so many pulls for it.
( Anniversary Event )
I'm obsessed with LaDS's photoshoot mode, I love how dedicated the game is at catering to delulu fans (me). Can they please add more appearance save slots though, three slots is NOT enough for me.

Snowflake Challenge #5 | Life Changes
Jan. 10th, 2025 12:41 amFandom can be a highly meaningful experience for many! We'd love to hear about how being part of a fandom has helped your life change for the better. Have you made any cherished memories or connections? Does fandom bring you joy? Tell us about the ways that fandom has helped you.
Fandom changed my life in so many ways, so it was challenging trying to settle on an answer for this one.
Fandom was the community I needed when I was lonely. I had just transferred from deaf classes to mainstream classes, from friends who I spent my childhood with to unfriendly hearing strangers. I had very limited opportunities to socialize with my old friends outside lunch period. Furthermore, our interests were starting to diverge, so when we did meet, it was awkward trying to find topics to talk about. It was a very rough transitional period, and I struggled a lot.
When I found online fandom communities, it was a blessing for me because I could chat with other people who shared my newfounded interests. I wasn't so lonely anymore with my fandom friends. I could tell them about my troubles and they were the good listeners I needed at that low point.
I don't know where I would be right now without fandom. I am so deeply grateful to fandom for being there during my difficult times.
