Christmas Dance

Image
Ty asked by writing several boys' names on the back of a shirt and his name in permanent marker.  She was asked to wash it and the only name left would be his to ask to the Christmas dance.  Usually this dance has always been a girl ask boy dance.  But not this year.

She answered with a bunch of m and ms

They had their lunch in the mall on the floor.  Our neighbor Ashley helped them with it.  She had several people go up to them and give them one item at a time needed for their lunch.  Super fun!

Then they made gingerbread houses out of graham crackers.

I even think that they decided to skip the whole dance altogether.  I think the dance is lame sometimes.

Got all the paperwork turned in, the board of review interviewed him and signed it off and Mic K. sent it to nationals!  Now we're just waiting for the little 3x5 yellow card in the mail that says, go to the scout office and pick up your paperwork (we're tired of holding it for you) and get your badges and start planning your court of honor.  So glad and pleased that it's done!  Ty did a fabulous job!

FYI we heard at the BOR that the cooking merit badge (starting in jan.) is now going to be a required one.  It's a tough one, so glad that we didn't have to do that one. Jens got that one but only with a ton of work with  Nate.

18 things about Tyler Alec Phiff

1.  When he was little (like 3) we lived in a split level apartment and ty would stand on a stair and say "ladies and gemenems" and "my name is tyler alec phiff!" That is one of my favs memories!
2. One time we were at seven peaks.  I had 5 kids total with me (3 of mine and 2 stow aways..or .is it stows away?)  I was super tired and we were ready to go...all the kids were all there and obediently waiting for Tyler to show up.  He was no where to be found.  I was getting madder by the minute.  I was torn...do I leave these kids, tell a kid to try and find him, or wait until he shows up.  I decided to keep everyone together and just sit and wait.  If I squinted I could see him far away at the tube station.  He had inter tubes all up and down his little arms.  He had decided that he would help the workers pick up all the left over tubes. If you have a roof needing to be re-roofed, Tyler will be there to help you.
3.  Just finished his eagle project.
4.  Tyler can wrap a mean ankle. and a knee. and an arm. and a wrist.
5.  He LOVES babies!  His ideal sunday school class is with the 2 year olds in nursery.
6.  He's pretty diligent about going to scouts and doing his priestly duties.
7.  Ty was airlifted off the Y mountain when he was 8.
8.  He likes to play card games with old ladies.
9.  He is not afraid of talking to people.
10.  Tyler has really nice thick hair.
11. He is a good employee at sears.
12.  He has lots of friends.
13.  He loves to snowboard
14.  He misses his brothers a ton.
15.  He has 10 screws just in his wrist.
16. His favorite food is ramen...raw or cooked. He has a special recipe...ramen, a little water, sesame oil, and sometimes soy sauce.  Cause it needs more sodium.
17  He has bad knees.
18.  Every year he volunteers to be a peer tutor for special needs seminary.  He'd aided for several classes in special needs.  He helps them all the way on and off the bus and after school activities.  He bends over backwards to help them.

It was "ballin'"!

Tyler asked a cute girl on the volleyball team to homecoming.  He was going to ask several girls but found out later that some other guy/s had or was going to ask them out too.  "I just don't play that way"  he said.

He put some some sports tape (he's in the training room every afternoon and has access to every tape imaginable available to him)  He wrapped a volleyball and wrote on it saying..."It'd be ballin' if you'd go to homecoming with me."  leaving the suspense of who's asking a secret for just a few seconds...On another ball wrapped with tape again and writing on it "tyler smith"  Another girl on her team rolled her each ball in succession.  Since I wasn't involved I didn't get any pictures of that...but her answering I did.  This is how she answered:

Ewww gross...

Thursday  night (a couple weeks ago) i left the chicken's waterer (a glass picture) outside on accident. I usually bring in the picture so I can just fill it up and take it out but I had to search for it and found it outside... So Friday morning when I usually go out...They were starving and very thirsty.  So I was trying to get inside fast and tripped on my wide pajama bottoms on the cement stairs, shattering the glass picture on the top of the stairs.  I caught myself in the middle of all the splintered glass.  I stood up to go inside and fill (now nothing...) up with water but as soon as I left the area of the glass the chickens wanted to eat and step all over the glass...The crash of the glass lured the chickens over to see what good there was to eat.  I was in a quandary...I couldn't leave the chickens because they were going to to cut themselves or kill themselves by eating it.  But if I hurried and got them water they would be distracted from the glass and I could clean it up.  I decided I needed help...my very last choice...but I didn't want the chickens to be hurt.  I called for Brian who was asleep and he helped get them some water...Then we cleaned up the glass and cleaned my wound.  I was doing just fine until i watched him try to grab a piece of glass with tweezers from a cut in my hand.  I said...I'm not doing so hot now and he said...I know...and grabbed me a chair to sit on.  Then he said those ominous words..."You need stitches"  I was like naaaaw...we can just close it with some butterfly stitches... We finally ended up at a dr. office (I refused to go to the er) where he put 6 stitches in my hand/wrist.  Brian also decided to disclose the fact that when I broke the picture..not only did I land on the cut glass I landed in chicken poops...so I needed ANOTHER needle inserted into my body...with a tetanus shot.  The shot itself was just fine but the next day that was what was so painful and sore, not my hand.   So thanks to Brian...I had an eventful Friday morning...and something fun to share with the boys.

Boys on mission blessing:
I could have easily cut lower or deeper or worse yet a finger sliced off  Or anywhere else on my body.  But I did not and I was not in any pain.  The last part could be attributed to the fact that I am as strong as an ox....yes an ox that trips.

Update:  I needed to have 6 stitches for 10 days and return to get the stitches out.  I decided that my friend was just as capable as a doctor to cut some string and pull the string out of my hand.  Hero Heidi.
