Kylie at the Smithsonian Castle. We went to the Air & Space Museum which was amazing. Did I mention the great weather we enjoyed. No humidity!!!Image
Kylie, Bapa & Nana in front of the White HOuse. Rick got up early one morning and got us tickets to take the quick elevator up to the top of the Washington Monument. What a view!!! It took almost forty years for that monument to be completed. They ran out of money and if you look close you can see where the new stone starts.

More of Philly..

This is Christ Church where all the patriots and the entire Congress went to worship here before they signed the Declaration of Independence. I believe that these men were acting in the name of our Father in Heaven. Let us all protect our Freedom's.Image This was the house of Betsy Ross. I remember when I was a little girl loving to read about her.

Image Conrad, Rick and I did the little tour at America's first Mint. It was super interesting seeing how coins are made. We saw bins and bins of brand new pennies. Do you know how to tell where your change is made? I do....

Independence Hall. We loved going through with the tour guides, they were all so informative & really peaked my interest in relearning our great nation's history. We had perfect weather and ate at an awesome restaurant, Cosi. They are all over the eastern seaboard & I want one wherever we land!!!

More of Kirtland and Hiram, Ohio

Rick and I at the Johnson Farm in Hiram. Love the white hydrangea's in the background.Image This is such a special room. D&C 76 was received here and Joseph Smith & Sidney Rigdon saw our Savior & Heavenly Father. I testify that this truly did happen here~ the spirit was so strong here & my favorite scripture is D&C 76: 22-24.

Summer Fun!

Sorry, no pictures, but I will put some on when we get back to Portage. Update: we have moved out of the rental home and are living at Jay & Laura Cammack's. The move went very smoothly and it is nice to have that behind us. We will miss our neighbor's the Owens, though. We have been traveling since July 3 when we left after Cara's shift at her job. We drove the five hours to Chardon, Ohio and stayed at the Semus's home then left the next day on the 4th for Philadelphia. We arrived at Jamie & Conrad's place around six and then got ready to go to downtown Philly for the festivities! We saw Sheryl Crow sing at the Rocky Museum (which is a premiere Art Museum) and watched the fireworks. Wow~ it was all very impressive. In the time that we have been here we have been to historic Philly and saw Liberty Bell & Independence Hall and other cool places. Had lunch at Cosi which is my new favorite place to eat at! Then off to Washington DC and spent two nights there and saw a list of things. Rick went early in the morning to get us tickets for the Washington Monument ( a must do & so impressive) saw the Lincoln Memorial, the Capitol and White House, The Air and Space Museum (Smithsonian), the Holocaust Museum, Library of Congress & Supreme Court to name a few. We took a taxi to see Georgetown for Cara's 19th B-day! that was her one request. Kylie sold kickboards at our hotel pool to other kids who were swimming. It is a funny story.. On the way home we ate pizza at Grotto Pizza in Delaware~ really good pizza! Then on our anniversary we spent the afternoon touring Valley Forge and had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory in the King of Prussia Mall (largest mall in America!) On Sunday we all drove out to Gettysburg and toured that amazing Visitor's center. I bought our tickets on line which saved us a few dollars and then picked them up at the door. The Museum, film and cyclorama were truly a work of love for this historical place. We were able to see some of the battlegrounds and walked around the national cemetary and saw where Pres. Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address. We put miles on our feet during this whole week. I want to visit this place again as it was one of my highlights of our trip. It has been a great ten days and we have all loved being with Jamie and Kylie. Ky is so full of personality and loves us all telling her stories that she gives you the character's for. She is a joy to us all. Jamie is barely looking pregants & the sad part is I look more prego than she does! Conrad is always working but it was fun spending the Sundays with him. We are so blessed to have America as our home land! God keep blessing America.....
