Biography

*sigh* I guess I should fill this out.

Anyways, I'm a 15 year old, super-lazy kid. (1997 FTW!)

Oh, and yes, Umer is, in fact, my real name.

So, on this site, I'm a moderator (notice the green star). So, if you ever think someone's breaking the rules or is just being mean, send me a PM (personal message). You can also send me messages about ANYTHING. I'm a pretty cool guy (if I do say so myself) and I'm a good listener. If you're willing to share any problems or just wanna talk, my inbox is a few clicks away.
Speaking of help, I'm also the dude that writes the "Help Articles" for the site (notice the HELP icon in the top right). I probably should write a ton more of them, but lazy.

Oh, I guess I should talk about coding, since that's a common theme on the DSiCommunity. So, I've been here since the original DSiHub, and my first coding that I "learned" was javascript on DSiExtensions (I doubt many of y'all know/remember it). Then, I made some small sites like DSiSocialness (pretty abysmal) and some bigger ones (like Compass and Confuzzle). I've also helped around on the Community a lot. For example, I'm also a mod on @.:A-MAN:.'s site, Klub and also helped with 3DSHub (DSiHub reborn for the 58234985723993652 time). So yeah, I know a decent bit of code

Anyways, I think that's about it. If there's anything else you wanna know about me, I always respond to PMs.

Kthanxbai.

Oh, and try the theme made by @AquaBeat and I, Teal and Pink, if you like the way this profile looks

Lol, lots of Windows problems lately. Suspiciously soon after MS said that 30% of its code is now written by AI. I hope they keep vibecoding or whatever else is going on over there 😂. Anyway, I'm in the middle of replacing Windows with Fedora Workstation on my Desktop.

Does anyone pay for Cursor or other AI development tool? (Aside from JetBrains)

Really bad (unfortunately fatal) accident I passed this morning. Just last week I was saying about how it's awfully presumptuous they think [roadname] drivers can handle the 3-way merge. This happened at the light just after that. It's the cutting across so many lanes of traffic that's just set up for failure unless we were to teach people better.

It's insane to me that they've stuck AI everywhere _except_ email.

I don't mean like "pre-generated messages." I mean like adding actual priorities and combining emails.

For example, it should be able to auto-prioritize. If it's like an email from an actual person, it should be higher than like newsletter mailing lists. If the mailing list email has dates in it that are shorter timeframe, that should be more weighted, etc.

It also should be able to combine emails. Say I order something from Walmart. I get a confirmation email, a shipped email, a email that it arrived in X town, an email that it was delivered, and an email to review it. If I've now picked up the package at my door, I no longer care that it was packed and shipped through Wichita, Kansas or whatever - it should be able to combine those into one meta email that's basically just the drop-off picture and the review link if I want to. And then if I delete the meta-email, it should delete the like 6 emails that made up the meta email.

Similarly for mailing lists, shopping websites tend to send a ton, often with tons of repetition. AI should combine all the ones from your inbox together and remove duplicates. I also am subscribed to a newsletter that's things to do in [cityname]. Again, meta-email that sorts and de-duplicates them.

It's weird. AI is like uncanny valley with certain things and I think the general population probably can't tell already. Tech enthusiast people probably have a pretty good feeling about it still.

It's like it hits all the right stuff, but is just slightly off enough that it feels like it doesn't have a soul. I was just generating some stuff on Suno and like everything feels like so many dark pop type songs that I listen to, but there will be like phrases and such that make it just not "right."

Certainly better than the Coke 2025 AI Holiday Ad https://youtu.be/Yy6fByUmPuE. It's so sad. They clearly just generated like the whole thing. The lyrics are uninspired. The animals are just wrong.

I imagine it will get better, and that'll be interesting though. I wonder when the cutoff point will be. Right now tho, it's so obvious and overall just "bleh."

This is insane. I'm working on something for Cislunar (between earth and moon) Spacecraft Security and everything Biden-Harris has been scrubbed from the White House websites. I have to go to Wayback Machine for them.

I literally can't think of a reason to do this other than personal beef that Biden did stuff.

Also idk what the laws are about gov't just "unpublishing" all this info. I would say to do a FOIA for knowing what all got deleted but I feel like then they will just delete the Freedom of Information Act lol.

Hmm my Alliant Credit Union credit card said it was dropping the 2.5% Cash Back to 1.5% starting Nov 1.

It's now Nov 5 and it still says it's 2.5% CB on my portal.

I been in high demand lately 😮

Had the CakeFest 2025 talk two weeks ago in Madrid and today I had two at the Data, Analysis, and Software in Heliophysics (DASH) 2025 conference in San Antonio.

First one went super good. Second talk was solid but not as good as the first. (They were on completely different topics).

so i just wanted to grab a quick basket of stuff from the grocery store the other night. I didn't even get anything crazy and it was just under $100. Frozen meal, apples, cereal, deodorant, etc. Didn't even get vinegar or cheese and some other items I need to go back for.
i mean im in a fortunate position where my salary is a good bit above the median salary for my city, but given that by definition half of the city makes less than that median salary, that seems so wrong.

If I had gotten a cart, it would've been closer to $200, and I was just buying for me. Add in people who have a pet and/or family. I think I started going to the grocery store for my family in high school time and I don't remember it being this much (of course, if I also got sushi and many more items and stuff, then obviously it'd be more).
