Hailing from Sri Lanka and raised in Italy, Rea K is a cosmopolitan artist and a dedicated musician. With a background in classical violin and music theory during her Asian youth, she embarked on a journey to Europe, where she delved into self-taught piano and synthesizer sounds. It was after meeting WM that Rea K took her first steps as a producer, blending her traditional musician roots with modern electronic concepts, leading to the development of her experimental and psychedelic approach.
Rea K's career began its ascent in 2006 as a violin performer, fusing her classical background with minimal techno grooves, igniting dancefloors and captivating audiences in prominent venues such as the Electrowave/Italiawave Festival, Italy's foremost electronic music festival. While studio production and instrumental playing have remained at the forefront of Rea's passion, she swiftly developed an interest in DJing, taking her original dancefloor weapons to many clubs and venues in Europe: from Italy to Germany,the undisputed nation of Techno, like Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Cologne.
In pursuit of her musical vision and artistic exploration, Rea K co-founded Black And White Records alongside WM, establishing a barcode platform that serves as a canvas for her music and artistry. Renowned for its fusion of sophisticated sounds, underground beats, and an experimental touch, Black And White Records has attracted the attention of esteemed DJs such as The Advent, Laurent Garnier, Adam Beyer, Craig Richards, Richie Hawtin, Karotte, Loco Dice, Rebekah, Answer Code Request, and many others. Their support, charting, and inclusion of Rea K's label tracks in clubs and festivals worldwide attest to the label's impact and influence.
