SOURCE
SOURCE is the community engagement and service-learning center for the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) Schools of Public Health, Nursing, and Medicine.
SOURCE’s mission is to engage the Johns Hopkins University health professional schools and Baltimore communities in mutually beneficial partnerships that promote health and social justice.
We also serve as a channel for student, faculty and staff involvement with community organizations, and local projects.
SOURCE has a particular, but not exclusive, focus on East Baltimore neighborhoods in close proximity to the Johns Hopkins Medical Campus.

2026 SOURCE Community Service Award recipients announced
Congratulations to the winners of the SOURCE Community Service Awards for 2025-2026. Recipients are recognized for their outstanding service and collaboration with Baltimore community-based organizations. Award categories include recognition for Individual Student Awards and Student Group Awards in BSPH, SON, and SOM, as well faculty, staff, alumni and community mentor awards.
2026-27 Baltimore Action Projects open for CBO project proposals on May 18
This program offers partner organizations the opportunity to collaborate with a long-term graduate student to tackle a key organizational priority in one of five focus areas affecting public health: Addiction and Overdose, Adolescent Health, Environmental Challenges, Food Systems for Health, and Violence. The call for proposals for Baltimore Action Projects will be open through Tues, June 16.
The Epidemiology Student Organization (ESO) has been making an impact this year through actively volunteering with community-based organizations here in Baltimore, including Moveable Feast and the R.I.C.H.
