Traditional flat archival materials are the best candidates for Sourcery scans, such as typed or handwritten papers, photographs, or ephemera.

At this time Sourcery does not offer scans of bound books, microfilm, or copies of audio or video files.

Images of three-dimensional objects are best requested from the holding institution.

All requests placed to Sourcery cost $65 at our introductory rate. At this time, the Sourcerer receives 90% of this fee and Sourcery retains 10% to cover transactions and develop the service. Our generous funding from the Mellon Foundation allows us to experiment with pricing and iterate as we seek a path to sustainability to maintain the platform.

We love interlibrary loan (ILL) services! However, most archival materials do not circulate and are therefore only accessible at the holding institution and cannot be requested via ILL. If your materials are only available onsite and you are not able to make the trip, then you can make a request in Sourcery and a Sourcerer can create scans for you. 

Sourcery is an archival document delivery app developed by researchers at the University of Connecticut and maintained in collaboration with Digital Scholar, the same not-for-profit corporation behind familiar projects like Zotero, Omeka, and Tropy.
