Space for the Wild was created to protect endangered animals and restore the natural environments they depend on… here in East Anglia and in the wild places they call home.
Born at Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park and founded by Jimmy Doherty, our mission is simple:

Inspired by Diego
Space for the Wild was inspired by a brown bear called Diego.
Found orphaned, frightened, and alone as a tiny cub, Diego was rescued and later, with the support of many many people, given a permanent home at Jimmy’s Farm.
Diego’s story is all too common. As forests shrink, bears are forced to roam further in search of food, and sadly many more cubs are left alone when their mothers never return.
His story became the catalyst for something bigger – and Space for the Wild was born.
Because rescue is only part of the answer.
If habitats disappear, the animals that depend on them disappear too.
This is why we protect the wild – so bears like Diego can have a (wild) future.
Conservation in Action
From the rehabilitation and rewilding of orphaned bear cubs in Romania through Bear Again, to helping protect the critically endangered British Swallowtail Butterfly here in East Anglia, our work combines science, collaboration and long term commitment.
