The end of an era

Image
I think we have officially started the toddler years, bear has at least one boo boo on his head at all times. And charlee has started in on the tantrums. These babies. They make my whole life better quite easily because they are the biggest part of it. I get to spend each day all day watching them grow and learn and cry and be silly. Each stage brings something special and loveable but also has its challenges. I don't have time to miss the baby stage because this new stage is so fun and exciting! People often ask me if it is getting easier to have twins, my response is usually that I don't know any different. But no, not easier, just a different hard :) I love that they can stand and walk, but that also means they can get into things they shouldn't. And they are getting tall so they can reach things they shouldn't! We are lucky to be in a space that is 100% dedicated to them. I don't have locks on the cabinets, they favor the tupper ware and the pots and pans and I don't mind picking those up every so often. As long as the bathroom door and the pantry door are closed we are good to go. Lately I have been closing the door to our bedroom as well just because its one less mess. They still love the car. If they start getting fussy and restless we go for a drive or run and errand. They go stir crazy staying home all day just like mom. Charlee girl. She is feisty. She loves nothing more than to get her hands on some freshly folded laundry to tear apart or a nice fist full of hair (especially daddys) to rip out. She can be quite the vicious little one! I constantly have scratches on my chest and neck from her. And she loves to get that sensitive skin on your under arm and pinch it in her finger nails. She also wins for the saddest most pathetic little face when she is sad. That being said, she is also my cuddly baby. She loves to rock at nap time and wants me to hold her always, shes become quite the little mamas girl. She puts her head on my shoulder and everything is right in the world. She thinks its the funniest thing to touch foreheads. I do too :) Except one time when she gave me a bloody nose. She loves to climb on/in anything she can find and the bean bag is her absolute favorite. Shes the best a mimicking noises. She can click her tongue as loud as I can! This trick is always a crowd pleaser. When she gets shy she shrugs one shoulder up while she leans her head to said shoulder and kinda swings side to side. It is the dang most adorable thing ever. This girl can chug water. I got her one of those sippy cups you drink out of like a normal cup and she will just chug and chug. She can also drink out of my straw and I am always amazed how much water she takes. Just like dad. She understands her name and the word no. And will look at me and smile and surprisingly stop! Then return to whatever naughty thing she was doing 5 seconds before. But shes catching on! Beary boy. He is the more independent one, but sure loves his mommy. He likes to explore but never goes to far where he cant see me. He's mischievous. He knows when he is doing something he shouldn't and will turn and flash me a smile like "oh oh here I go mom what ya gonna do about it?" Its too cute to be mad. He loves eating. Its his favorite time of day. Has recently fell into a love affair with fishy crackers. They both get so proud of themselves that they can eat all by themselves. He loves to play with things that have lids. take off put on. Room sprays are his absolute favorite right now. And the broom. He is entertained for hours with the broom. Its hilarious. He also likes the drawer with my curling irons and any kitchen appliance he gets his hands on. He also is fascinated by opening/closing door. He has locked his sister in many a room. My favorite was when he closed her in my moms pantry with the glass door and she just put her hands and face up against it with her sad face. It was so funny, and sad. And cute. She doesn't even freak out. Sometimes it takes me a while to figure out she is trapped. The other day they went in their room and closed the door and played the whole time I was getting ready. It was great! I look forward to the days of self entertainment. Well and they have each other to play with. Which is amazing to watch. They fight over toys of course but they share and play together, as well as apart, so well. His favorite game is to stick his binkie in my mouth (the tab not the nipple) and then he sucks on the nipple to get it out of my mouth. He will laugh and laugh and he knows what part goes in mommys mouth. They both like to do that actually. Then mommy sneaks and takes the binkie out and I get a nice big wet kiss :) Every time he takes a small sip of water it is so shocking to him. He does it over and over, takes a sip then freaks out a little then goes back for more. Its hilarious to watch. My favorite thing right now is when they run off together to a corner or their play room and I hear giggling. Man they sure find each other hilarious. Also when I get on my hands and knees and chase them. They laugh and scream and run and think it is the best thing ever. That is by far their favorite game. That and climbing all over me/daddy/bean bag. They are also obsessed with glasses. My poor mom is ALWAYS cleaning little paw prints. They know exactly which of my moms cupboards have breakable bowls inside and go straight for them. Or the bathroom/office if the doors are open. When they figure out how to open doors we are in TROUBLE. They definitely recognize people now. They know who they know and more importantly who they do not know! They are very clingy in social settings. My sweet activity day girls just love to hold them but neither babe wants anything to do with the girls. I feel so bad. And its hard to help with anything when they just want me to hold them constantly! We figure it out. I still make all their food and plan to as long as they will let me! Broccoli just isn't appealing unless its blended up and covered up with apples and carrots. I'm so glad they are good eaters (mostly) I have yet to find someone who isn't completely smitten. I look forward to a new year with you two! Many adventures to be had. Life couldn't be better.

Let it snow

I have always liked snow. I grew up with it, every year waiting for that first snowfall! It means skiing! It is such a huge blessing to live in a place that has 4 perfect seasons. This year might have been jumping the gun just a bit, but I couldn't resist bundling up those little cuties and tossing them in the fluffy freezing snow today!!! Needless to say they were less than amused by it all. The dressing - the tossing - the cold - the undressing.... I thought it was great and couldn't stop laughing. Charlee stood in the same spot where I set her down I think afraid to move at all. Bear didn't want me to put him down, and as soon as I did he tried to escape and run back inside. So I grabbed him and tossed him back in the fun. *Mean mom I know I know....* We lasted 3 whole minutes then B made a second run for the door. This time I let him go in....and he shut the door on me. Haha! Charlotte posed for a few more pictures with sweet smiles then we came inside. Bear couldn't close that door fast enough. He definitely was not up for round 2! These pictures sure sum it up perfectly. We missed daddy so much today I threw in a pic of him too. Happy holidays!

A new tradition, take a bath with dad after cake smash! There was a lot going on so they were kinda grumpy. Oh well. The cake smash was hilarious, they kept shaking their hands to get the frosting off. Then Charlee tried to escape but we wouldn't let her haha so mean! Don't look too closely at those cakes...They did not turn out the way I wanted them to! I had some major issues and ran out of time to try again. But they were smashed anyway and I was happy to see them destroyed. During their birthday song Charlee started singing along it was so adorable. My mom was so wonderful and I helped her make potato cheese soup and rolls and craisen salad for dinner, Grammy and Grandy brought ham buns and we also made texas sheet cake banana cake and marble and fun fetti cup cakes!!! There was tons of good food and yummy deserts to be had. So much Love and hard work went into this party and I'm so pleased with how it turned out. Good memories and pictures to remember forever. Happiest of Birthdays to my TWINS!
