Mmmm . . . . FALL!

I had Monday the 10th of Oct. off -- apparently its a Holiday. Since David and I rarely get a whole day together he took it off too and we went hiking so we could enjoy the fall colors that are just amzing. Fall is really beautiful out here. The west has a pretty Fall season too, but nothing compared to the east due to the dense forestation here. It was a beautiful day, so warm and beautiful, it was also really great to just be able to relax and do something fun since the past few months have been packed with lots of work and big deadlines for David.

Well I havent posted in a long time . . . oops.

I have been working on lots of fun things over the past couple months. I am working on getting my NY state teaching license but its turning out to be a very lengthy and costly process. Im not really counting on finding a public teaching job though, seeing as they have been firing more teachers than hiring. I've also been applying for teacher aid positions as well as lots of preschool/childcare jobs that have been advertised. I've got an interview at the Cornell Childcare Center tomorrow -- I am hoping that goes well! It would be perfect and its full time with benefits which is something I could really use.

In the mean time though Ive been working part time with a class of pre-k kids (age 4). Its pretty fun, but its only 4 hours/day . . .

So I still have the majority of my mornings free. So I have been making/doing lots of things. Here area few of my projects!

We took a trip to IKEA and got some furniture -- we got a bed frame, dresser, 2 side tables, and 2 cubby bookshelf things. We use one for the TV stand. I worked on those boxes in the bottom row b/c they used to be see thru but I spray painted the inside black so even though they were blue now they look black and they hide all the stuff that we have in them!!

The lamp on the left were lamps we got for free from someone. I didnt like them so I put glue dots all over than and spray painted them and now they look really great.

Image
I also had David put the utility shelves in our "coat closet" since we have no kitchen space, and I use half of it as a pantry. its working out pretty great!!
Image

Our bed fram only cost us 1/2 of the reg price thanks to some false advertising and David haggling skills!

We got a second set of these shelves for the bedroom and its working out pretty good as we have enough stuff to really fill all the spots. This is an old picture and things dont really look like that anymore.

Sneak Peak . . .

We have officially been engaged for 25 days now . . . seems like yesterday!!

Random news . . .
1. We got FURNITURE!! yep yep --- very exciting, the apartment is no longer lined with boxes of stuff!
2. We put together all our new furniture (David says it was fun kinda like grown-up lego's but you actually have something useful at the end!!)
3. We got said furniture all set up and semi decorated the apartment
4. I got a JOB!! woot woot
Its only part time but gives me a little over 20 hours a week. I'll be teaching Pre-K(4 yr old) kids from 1:30-5:30pm and will be the "lead teacher" which basically means I have to plan all the lessons and I get paid a bit more (yeah for that!)
On top of that I am going to work at the YMCA on Saturdays
and substitute at various childcare centers in the mornings!
I figure it will keep me occupied enough -- and if it doesnt I can always work in the evenings at a retail store (though I am trying to avoid that)
Im pretty excited to start working again. Having the summer off is great, but after 3 months of having "nothing" to do -- it starts to make you CrAZy!!
5. We got our engagements back from my lovely sister in-law Heather, and they look great!!
So here is a sneak peek of some of our fav's . . .

I dont love this one of me, but i love davids expression!!

I am totally NOT a person who loves PDA (public display of affection) -- so kissing photos were totally not my thing -- though David seemed to like them a lot!!

The proposal . . .

Well folks . . . This past weekend has been very EXCITING!! . . .
You prolly guessed it from the title of this post -- but I got ENGAGED!! (to the best guy I know!) .... yep yep its the truth!

David N Hutchison (notice NO "N")
and I
will be getting married on October 22
in Denver.

David is pretty amazing! Let me tell you some of the countless reasons why . . .

1. He makes me feel like the most important person in the world (which is the way it should be!!)
2. He's pretty much a genius (though he might deny that) -- yet another reason why he's amazing
3. He's a man of many talents
4. He let me move in to his new apartment, while he kinda lives like a vagabond with people from the ward for the next little bit
5. He makes me laugh (and he laughs at his own jokes!!)
6. The coolest thing he's ever done for me . . . (drum roll please) --- He MADE me (yep thats right) MADE my engagement ring!!
(pretty amazing right!!

Okay I could go on . . . but I can only put so much sappyness on the web . . .

SO here we go -- this is gonna be a long one folks!!
Here are some pics from his cool ring making process and of course from when he proposed!

He started out with something like this . . .

Carved it into something like this . . .

And . . . WALAH!! A shiny pretty ring!! :)
Im making it sound really easy, mostly b/c he would be much better at explaining what he did than I, but this whole process took him basically 2 weeks (with 2 full days, and a long evening at the jewelers shop!)

PRETTY AMAZING!!
