Lately:

  • went on a blind date with a guy who awkwardly told me he had an prosthetic testical within the first hour of our date - but not to worry cuz it was a size 4....

  • got bucked off my horse and wanted to die from pain... but remembered that whenever you get bucked off, you get right back on even when it hurts! I've been bucked off many horses - literal and metaphorical - in my life.
    Image

  • made my mom ride her bike with my dog in the basket. Think of the tune from the Wizard of Oz  where the mean aunt rides her bike to.
Image

  •  have been working in my garden a lot
Image

  • started making fun Halloween crafts....last year I was anti-holiday. This year I'm feeling more festive.
Image

  • Found this picture from my mission and it made my heart ache to see those people again.
Image

  • Went to the state fair and saw goats in love
Image

  • Reupholstered a rocking chair with my sister. Should we Paint it or leave it?

My favorite picture

Image

This is me and Anne-Marie in 1998 on the morning we left for a Pioneer Trek. If anyone reads this that doesn't know what that is, a pioneer trek is basically a re-enactment of the migration of Mormons to Salt Lake City, Utah from all over the world in the 1850-60's. Theyused handcarts to transport their belongings.  To help youth in the church appreciate the pioneer heritage more, churches get youth groups together and they dress in pioneer clothing and pull/push a handcart  for a few days and live as they would have back then.

As noted in the above picture, neither I nor my sister were too excited to go. They were dividing up the youth and putting them into various families with people we didn't know. Our ward was the only ward in our stake that went to a different school than the rest- so we hardley knew anyone in our stake. Both Ree and I were shy at this point in our lives and we didn't want to meet knew people. :)

The leaders were really strict on not letting us take anything that had modern theme to it - such as deodorant, toothpaste, gum, etc. They even went through our bags and discarded anything that was. My friend hid deodorant in her bra and we would meet up to hurry and put it on while hiding in the woods  like it was a felony. I remember seeing Anne-Marie from afar a few times. I think during the whole trek she had gone to her "happy place" in her head. I remember seeing her staring off into nothing, perhaps even rocking back and forth at some point.  At the beginning of the trek, she had a french braid in her thick hair and by the end of the trek, that french braid was still intact - by maybe 3 strands and she slightly looked like she had been lost in the wilderness for a month.

Fast forward to today. My dad just recently went on a Pioneer Trek with the youth of his ward. And I was jealous.  Jealous of what I once thought was utter torture! I think it would be really fun to go now, especially because of my interest in my family history. I have become old.

The end.

The other day I was at my sister, Michelle's house. We put in the movie Annie for Jackson to watch. I could hear it in the background while we were doing other things, and it made me remember how bad I used to want to be Annie. I think Annie has probably been one of my all favorite shows since I was 2 years old... Its such a cute movie.

So growing up I wanted to be Annie. Was it a subconcious wish to be an orphan? Because I was sick of sharing a room, or bathroom with my 4 sisters? I will never know.... :)

That got me thinking of all the other characters that I would dream about having their lives.

Such as:

Stephanie Tanner from Full House

I don't really know why I wanted to be her.  But. I did.

"How Rude!"
Image

Anne from Anne of Green Gables

I would have given anything to live in Green Gables on a farm with a boy like Gil....sigh.

Image

Princess Buttercup from The Princess Bride.

Mostly I wished I had fields and fields to go run my horse through. Oh and Wesley.

Asssss Yooouuuuu Wiiiisssshhhhh

Image

Samantha from 16 candles. Wasn't that every slightly nerdy girl's dream in highschool?
To have the highschool hottie realize you were actually the coolest girl and hottest around....

Image

And Obviously WONDER WOMAN!!! I even had a leotard I used to play in.
I mean seriously, she could just twirl around and her outfit was changed.

Who did YOU wish you could be back in the day?

Recent Happenings

Earlier this month, some of my family and I went to a family reunion in Canada. So we camped along the way in Montana, Idaho and Canada. It was fun.

Here are some pictures.

This was a nice day at the lake. At this precise moment of me being in the kayak, Anne-Marie is stuck on the bay watching 3 dogs (we took 3 dogs with us, yes crazy.)  I turned around after snapping this picture and see Anne-Maried running after the dogs who have gotten loose and are terrorizing the nearby campers.  I was glad to be in the boat.
