Catching up with life :)

Well, I was just looking through some of the adorable pics of my son (I know, I am biased)...and I noticed that I haven't posted ANY pics from Disneyland or any others for a little bit.

We were so lucky to be able to go to Disneyland a few weeks ago with my family (My mom, dad, sister, brother-in-law, niece, nephews and my cute little family). We had a BLAST and took some pretty cute pictures too! :)

These last few weeks we have enjoyed a great Thanksgiving and Dominic has decided he REALLY wants to move around! He has been able to roll around the floor pretty well for awhile, but now he is much more determined. This last week he has been pulling himself up on the couch and playing. Just yesterday he was on his stomach and popped himself up on his hands and knees. His little smile of accomplishment was so DARN cute! He propels himself forward and promptly falls down...but it wont be long...

We started decorating our house for Christmas (Thanks to some help from my adorable niece) last Friday....and Justin has been having great fun with the lights. Dominic thinks they are pretty great and he is so "helpful." Here are a few adorable pics of him "helping"

Happy Halloween and a cute video

We had a great Halloween Party and it was so fun to see so many of our friends. Dominic didn't go trick or treating this year, but he was super cute for the party. Here is a great pic of our adorable little guy for Halloween!

Dominic is getting so big. He is getting to be more fun each day.

-sitting up on his own
-laughing
-trying to stand up (his legs are still pretty shakey though)

-loves riding around in his stroller

Cabin Trip

So, we recently discovered that my Dad has a part ownership in a cabin in Lamb's Canyon (which is only about 30 or 45 minutes away). We were able to go up this last weekend and it was so awesome!

To get to the cabin you wind up the mountain and the cabin is almost at the very top. It has a gorgeous view.



We mostly just enjoyed being lazy and relaxing. We all had a great time...and we got some great pictures of Dominic

Baby's first trip

We decided to go visit some of our friends and go to Dinosaur park for a little family vacation. It was a nice first vacation for our little man...with a drive that he could handle.

We enjoyed relaxing with our friends, doing a little hiking and just getting out of town for a few days.

Dominic's blessing day

Today was the day that our son was given a name on the record of our church and a blessing. It was so beautiful! It was so special to see my son surrounded by men who love and support him.

Justin and Dominic both wore kilts to honor our Scottish heritage. Justin wore his kilt for our wedding reception so it was fun to keep up the tradition and they both looked so awesome!

Well, our little guy is growing so fast... as of last thursday he was 13 and a half pounds!!! He is starting to smile, laugh and coo. It is so fun.

I started back to work last week and I have mixed emotions about that. It is nice to get back to work but I feel tired all the time again (apparently that doesn't go away just because your baby sleeps through the night). I also miss my time with him...even though I know I am really blessed to still get so much time with him. I can't believe how much I love the little guy :)

HE'S HERE!!!

Here are a couple pics of our cute little one. He decided to arrive after a very short labor (at least at the hospital) and delivery.

Dominic Junius McEwan arrived at 3:05 am on Wednesday March 23rd. He surprised everyone by being big at 8 lbs 13 oz and measuring 22 inches long. I am really glad he didn't decide to stay in till his due date! Not sure I would have survived delivering him much bigger.

We brought him home yesterday and seem to be adjusting fairly well. I am a bit overwhelmed with the responsibility but simply love him!

Better late than never...

Well, I think I hoped that my last post would be the last one before our little guy arrived...but I guess not. I am now 37 + weeks and I don't see much of an end in sight.

I was just realizing I never posted any thing about my baby showers. My mom and sister were awesome and threw me a baby shower a few weeks ago and it was a LOT of fun! It was so fun to see so many people since I was feeling pretty lonely being on bedrest. We had some fun "minute to win it" games, lots of amazing food, and baby got some fun stuff :)

I also had a couple really sweet girls in my ward (Melinda, Wendy and Amy) throw me a baby shower for my ward. We at a LOT of chocolate including homemade chocolate fudge and chocolate dipped strawberries. It was very yummy!! It was great to see the sisters in my ward. They are all so amazing and I had missed seeing them at church the last few months.

Now a days I try to go for walks and go out shopping to try and get our little guy to come meet us...but so far he seems quite happy inside :( At least I know that the docs wont let me go past April 8th (but I am hoping to convince them that that is too long...we shall see)

Pregnancy pains :(

Well, I guess that I can now update a bit about the last week or so. I was pretty frustrated on Sunday so I figured updating the blog was probably a bad idea. I would scare away my few readers ;)

On Friday afternoon I started to have more regular contractions so I went in to L&D. They said I was dilated to a 2 and 50% effaced and since I was 34 weeks they would just let me have him. Well, after talking to the OB I decided I wanted to have the steroid shots for babies lungs so they started those and gave me a drug to stop the labor. I guess I went back to being dilated to a 1....and there I have sat since.

We stayed at the hospital through Sunday evening to make sure I had the steroids in for 48 hours and to watch for any more signs of labor. I have continued to have contractions for 5-8 hours of the day since they started on Friday but they don't progress my labor. So, now I'm at home again...trying to sleep when I can and HOPING that the time goes by fast. I will admit that the logical part of me is gone and all I want is him out...but I'm trying to be good and follow doctors orders to give little man more time to grow. The good news is that I have barely over a month till my due date...so there is an end in sight. YEAH!

Well, I head in to see my doc in a few hours here and maybe I'll have more answers after talking to her. I'll update when I know more.

33 weeks and counting

Well, I am slowly but surely trying to get this little guy to the world...He seems to be a little over anxious so I'm still on bedrest. Now a days I can't do much with out feeling contractions so i'm doing my best to stay down...although I will admit I'm terrible at it.

We went and had ANOTHER ultrasound yesterday. Since I have a thyroid disorder they watch his growth really carefully in the 3rd trimester. Everything has been fine with that, but it is fun to see him each time.

According to the ultrasound measurements (which are always slightly off, but still fun) says that he is 5 lbs 10 oz already!!! Which just seems crazy to me but it is reassuring since he seems to want to come out early.

The doctor had a lot of fun with the 3D ultrasound...Which means we got to take home some fun pictures of him...Here are a few

Baby Update

Well, I went in for another appointment today and it is all mostly good news. The contractions that I have been having haven't made any changes yet so our little man is still safe inside :) He is measuring exactly 32 weeks which is great and overall both baby and I are doing great!

I'm still on bedrest since the doc is concerned that my contractions are waking me up but I am relieved to hear that everything looks good so far. He needs to stay safe inside for another month or so. I am now for sure off of work until our little man comes, but I'm ok with that. I had pretty much come to that conclusion at this point...

Otherwise life is about the same. I don't think I'm going too crazy. I still read alot, watch a lot of movies, crochet off and on and enter to win stuff online....

Which I'm really excited about because I recently just won a baby bullet! I never really win anything so it was pretty exciting. If you haven't ever tried to win things through blog giveaways I would recommend giving it a chance...This is really the first thing I've won but I didn't have to do much and it was FREE! Everything looks really nice and I'm excited to see how it works. I'll let you know when I try it out, but it will be awhile....

GREAT NEWS!

Today I went to my OB appointment and was told I can start to do a little more since my last ultrasound was so reassuring. I'm still off of work at least until my next appointment in 2 weeks but that is ok. Today I am doing what I have wanted to do for WEEKS now....

GO TO TARGET!

Seriously, it is my favorite store I think and I've been missing it so much! Unfortunately that is probably ALL I will do today because this body of mine has gotten pretty lazy being down for so long.

Also on the good news list, I am measuring about 2 weeks early and he is looking great. We had an ultrasound last week and it said he was 3 lbs 8 oz and looked great. It is always nice to be reassured that everything is going well. Our little man just needs to "cook" awhile longer before he comes to stay....we haven't even come close to finishing the nursery ;)

Isn't it ironic?

So, if you asked me about three weeks ago I would have told you that all I wanted was a break from work because I was hurting SO bad by the end of a twelve hour shift. Now I have exactly that I think I'm going crazy!

Here is my day:
10am (or whenever I feel like it)- wake up
11am-actually get out of bed, get dressed and go downstairs to the couch
11:10-turn on the TV
12:00-continue watching tv
1:00-crochet
2:00-TV
3:00-sign up to win free stuff
etc...

I do have to admit that with it just being christmas and new years that it was nice to have time to be home with Justin and the family, but now that that is over I'm a little unsure how the rest of this pregnancy will go. I still have hope that my doctor will decide that all is well and I can return to work this week...I'll keep you posted.

Other than being on bedrest we have had a pretty quiet few weeks. We spent Christmas eve in the new building that Justin finished. His family and a few friends came over for a really nice party. Justin had put a wood burning stove out there to warm it up and it all looked really nice. We all had a great time talking, playing on our new pool table and playing cards. I was perched very nicely on the couch out there and it was very nice.

Christmas morning was very nice with just Justin and me. I got very spoiled and I really enjoyed having our first christmas as a married couple together (and our last christmas as just the two of us). Then after our quiet morning we went up to my parents house were we were VERY spoiled by my parents and enjoyed watching my sister's children open there presents. It was a lot of fun!

For New Year's Eve we went over to my mother-in-laws for a nice evening with Justin's siblings. We had a lot of food and enjoyed watching movies. I sat on the couch and worked on more of my crochet projects.

That is about it for now....today it is back to normal (see the above schedule for my day) Will write more when I have any changes.
