Update - Microsoft has confirmed this as a known issue and is actively working on a resolution. They have indicated that a Known Issue Rollback (KIR) is in progress.

At this time, Microsoft has not provided confirmation on how or when the KIR will be deployed. We are continuing to work closely with Microsoft to better understand rollout timing and potential customer impact.

Update - Microsoft has confirmed that recent Windows updates released on or after June 9, 2026 are causing compatibility issues with certain third-party applications, including Nextech workflows that rely on Microsoft Office integrations.

Specifically, this issue impacts applications that use OLE automation to interact with Microsoft Office, which may result in Office applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access) failing to open or launch correctly when initiated through affected workflows.
Microsoft has acknowledged this issue and is actively developing a resolution, which is expected to be delivered through a future Windows update.

We understand the impact this disruption may have on your operations and sincerely apologize. Our team remains actively engaged with Microsoft and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

Update - Microsoft’s recommended workaround remains to coordinate with your internal IT team to uninstall Windows Update KB5094126 to restore Word Merge functionality.

At this time, Microsoft has not confirmed that the issue is fully resolved. While there are indications that recent backend changes may have improved performance, results have not been consistent across all clients.

Some clients have reported success after uninstalling and reapplying the update; however, we are not yet able to confirm this as a reliable or permanent solution.

Currently, we do not have an estimated timeline for a full resolution. Our team remains actively engaged with Microsoft to validate a long-term fix. For clients who have already rolled back the update, we recommend remaining in that state until the issue is confirmed resolved.

We recognize the impact this issue may have on your operations and sincerely apologize for the disruption. We will continue to provide timely updates as more information becomes available.
