Hive Maintenance Scheduled for January 16th, at 2:15 PM EST

As part of a larger effort to find more long-term solutions to make sure our members are having a good user experience in The Hive, the forums will be undergoing some much-needed maintenance today, January 16th, at 2:15 PM EST. During this time, the Hive will be read-only with the ability to comment and most other features unavailable for about an hour. The updates and maintenance will increase the speed and reliability of The Hive server going forward. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at [email protected]

UPDATE: The wider issue seems resolved, and we’ve restored member services.
11/18/25 - Site Access Issues

An internet-wide Cloudflare issue has made access to TPM a bit shaky this morning. While the wider issue is being resolved and to ensure you can access TPM, we’ve disabled member services temporarily. Don’t be alarmed if you can’t sign in to TPM; you should still be able to read TPM. We’ll restore member services as soon as the underlying issue, which is outside of our control, is resolved.

UPDATE - Site Outage 6/12/25

As many of you have probably noticed, TPM had significant downtime this afternoon. It turns out it wasn’t just us. Cloudflare had a series of broad outages this afternoon and TPM was downstream of that. About 20% of all websites use Cloudflare for core site functions (things like DDOS mitigation, proxying, DNS, caching, and some other things I’m sure I’m forgetting).

We’re back now and closely monitoring the situation. Our apologies for the interruption, and thanks as always for sticking with us.

Our team is aware of some site outages for users and is working on a fix. We appreciate your patience with us.

Intermittent Sign-In Issues (10/17/24)

Our database/auth provider is experiencing intermittent connectivity issues.

What this means for users is that sometimes a sign in attempt will fail unexpectedly. Also, you may occasionally  have to refresh the page a few times to see yourself as signed in.

We’re in conversation with our auth provider to work through this issue.

Site Status Update 6/24 6:11 PM EST

What a week.

We’re aware of a couple outstanding issues we’re still investigating.

First, some people report that as they begin typing their email address or password, they are immediately shown an error message before they can even finish typing. If this is happening to you, please let us know and include what device and what browser you are using when that happens.

Second, there are a couple dozen users who at some point in the recent past attempted to change their email address, but the changes were not synched in our database correctly, which is preventing users from logging in. We’re aware of this and looking for a fix.

Third, some people seem unable to use the Magic Link or the password reset email links. Every time they click the link, it says expired. We believe this has to do with security measures in place to scan the links to make sure they are safe, which inadvertently renders the link expired. If this is happening to you, please let us know. If you could include any information about your internet or email provider, that would be helpful

Now for the fixes.

We identified two important issues today. First, there was a bug that was preventing a subset of users from using their existing passwords. This mainly affected users who hadn’t logged in since Wednesday June 19th. This has been fixed.

Second, we identified a bug with the password reset process. This issue has also been fixed.

We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding while we work with the subset of users who are having issues logging in.
