Lance ran his marathon this morning in 4 hours and 56 minutes. He did a great job and we are so proud of all his hard work. This has been something he’s been wanting to do for a few years now (because he’s crazy!) My mom, the kids and I booked it down to the end of the race so that we could make it to see him cross the finish line. I talked to Lance on when I should be there and he said, “There’s no way I’m going to be any faster than 5 hours.” So I planned to be there at 10:30, five hours after the race started. I was there on time but as you can see from his time I was 4 minutes late. I was so sad that I missed him cross that line! But we are just so stinkin’ proud of him and love him so much!
Big Girl Bed July 24, 2011
Rory has moved up in the world and now has a big girl bed. Actually more than that! Since her room subs for our guest room when people come to visit she actually has a queen size bed. The transition has been entertaining and frustrating as it always is. One of the first night she slept in her bed Lance and I were talking on the couch and thought that we heard something. We were seeing who drew the short straw and had to go back and check out what the noise was. I lost and headed back there and found Rory tucked in OUR bed! Since then she stays in her bed but we can hear her talk and kicking walls until about 8:45-9pm.
A New Smile July 23, 2011
Chiler lost his first upper tooth yesterday. He was so excited! I still haven’t gotten used to seeing him with a missing tooth. I have to remind myself all the time that one of his brothers didn’t knock it out. : )
Farmington Days July 11, 2011
Every year Farmington City puts on “Farmington Days” where they have all these fun events. One of the events is a parade. The parade is really fun, the kids get out on the side of the street and people that drive by either give them candy or spray them with water. Which I have to share a quick sidenote story. There was a lady next to us kind of complaining that the kids were in the street (come on they’re throwing candy!) Then she said, “You better believe they don’t let you stand in the street for the Rosebowl Parade.” Seriously, she’s comparing our dinky, but fun, parade to the lavish Rosebowl parade??? No comparison, but anyway, Lance and I were sitting back realizing how awesome it is to have the kids getting older! The boys were out there catching candy and we were sitting in our seats! We actually enjoyed the parade and weren’t stressed the whole time about our kids. It helped that Rory was very content sitting on Lance’s lap eating candy. : ) It was a fantastic weekend.
Fourth of July July 5, 2011
I love the Fourth of July. One, I’m a history person, so what a wonderful celebration of our Nation’s beginnings. This year we had a bbq with my sister and her family, my parents and my grandpa. It was a lot of fun. We didn’t have to stay up late on the 4th for fireworks because one of our neighbors are crazy about them and put up a show of his own. It was AMAZING!!! Better than any official firework shows that went off here.
