Family Picture

Image Hill Family Christmas 2008

Wow! Christmas is just around the corner. It's snowing right now and getting us all in the Christmas spirit. I am getting so excited for Kaden and Ty to open their presents. Probably more excited than opening my own gifts. Baby Paycen is coming soon. We are getting really excited. I can't wait to see what he looks like. Are we going to have another Kaden {blonde with blue eyes and light skin} or a baby like Ty {dark hair, dark skin and green eyes}. My mom was like "What if he has red hair?" Not funny mom! Anyway...We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! and safe travels to those that are traveling. Love you all!!

Christmas Tree

Tyrel went and found us a very nice looking fur tree in the mountains. I usually get to go, but because of my growing condition I was unable to go snowshoeing to find our perfect tree. The last 3 Christmases we have decorated the tree how Tyrel likes it... with tinsel. There is nothing wrong with tinsel, but this year {and the years to come} the tree is mine. I bought myself a wooden star and some super cute wooden ornaments from Porters. Our stockings aren't the red felt ones anymore, I got some cute ones from a craft store here in town. After we decorated it, Tyrel was like "Steph, the tree looks pretty good!" As if he didn't trust me or something.

Kaden loves the ornaments. He rearranges them over and over all day. The only thing he can't touch are the candy canes, he has to wait till after Christmas. I see him just looking at them with want in his eyes. He loves candy. How do kids know what's candy and what isn't? I tried to give Kaden some dried banana chips and told him they were candy. He knew it wasn't candy and refused to even try it. What a stinker. I keep telling myself that someday he will eat fruits and vegetables.

Dishes

ImageThank you Kaden for helping me do the dishes

I love when you...

1. put the drying dishes back into my soapy wash water
2. end up with a puddle of water under your feet making your socks soaking wet and mine to
3. take a spoon and flip water in my face and quickly say "Uh-oh. Sorry mama!" and then do it again
4. give yourself a soapy, wet Mohawk
5. give me one of you famous "cheeser" smiles

Kaden is doing so much better after his surgery. It was a rough week for us but thank heavens for Tylenol with Codeine!! We still have to sneak in at night to make sure he is breathing. His snoring was really comforting because we knew he was alive all night long. But now he's so quite we have to hover over him and watch his little chest move up and down while he sleeps. It's nice to see Kaden breathing through his nose now to. His mouth used to hang open all the time. I hate when I have a stuffy nose and have to breath through my mouth. That's what it was like for Kaden all the time. Poor kid. We are all doing really good now!

Thanksgiving was fun and relaxing. Probably from all the turkey!! (and the zombie like state I was in). We had a pre-thanksgiving dinner with soup and bread turkey at my parents on Wed. Then I worked all night long. Then we ate Thanksgiving dinner at Ty's parents on Thurs. Then I worked all night long again. "Go night shift!" I had the best Black Friday Day ever...no crowds, no stress, but then again there was no shopping. Big surprise there, I stayed home and slept.

Day Surgery

Kaden had his tonsils and adenoids taken out yesterday. We checked in at 7am and they took Kaden for surgery at 8:40. While he was being wheeled down the hall he was saying "hi" to all the nurses and "love you" to me and Ty. The surgery went well. Dr. M said his airway was 80-90% blocked by his huge tonsils and adenoids. So it was a good thing we made this decision. Then all hell broke through. The nurses came and got us at 9:10 saying that Kaden wanted his mommy. We walked back to the PACU. I heard the most horrific sound (I really want this memory to go away) Kaden was crying/moaning/screaming. To be honest I wanted to throw up while holding my crying, unconsolable baby in the post anesthesia room right after his surgery. I felt helpless. It was really hard and scary. About an hour later after a dose of Morphine, then Demerol, and finally a breathing treatment of epinephrine from respiratory, Kaden slept. The staff at the hospital was amazing. They took such good care of us. Kaden is doing much better today. Thanks for all the phone calls last night. Hopefully a full recovery is ahead and life will be better for our sweet little Kaden.

Remodeling Cont...

Last spring, Tyrel and I put in new windows, new siding, and landscaped our house. It looks awesome from the outside. But the inside we didn't get finished until yesterday. The last couple weekends Ty has been busy working on the inside of the windows. He rebuilt all the framing and molding for the windows. Then he painted, and finally yesterday we finished putting up the blinds. Some of the blinds (the big expensive wood blinds for our big windows) didn't fit because the frame work was a little smaller then it was before. For those blinds we had to take out all the slabs, cut them and thread them back through (hours of work but it saved us over $500) We are still deciding if it was worth the headache or not.

ImageSilly Kaden!

Image I guess he was being too silly because now he is in the time out corner!! Priceless

It is so nice to finally have the blinds back up. I have gone without all summer...ya know... without any privacy. Now I can streak from the bathroom to my bedroom without fear of peeping toms. Except for Kaden who occasionally sees and yells out "Mama...Bum Bum"!! I guess I should save the streaking for when Kaden's asleep. Thanks Ty for all your hard work. The house looks awesome. Next project...the boys' room.

28 week belly

So I am now 28 weeks (about 7 months) and looking and definitely feeling pregnant. Ty is so helpful by saying, "You're so tiny...you don't even look pregnant!" What a nice guy...but I don't belive him. Strangers are already touching my belly, I am continually running into walls, and people see me coming and they move out of the way so I can make it through. "Heifer coming...make way!"

Image
ImageThis pregnancy has gone by pretty quick now that I look back. Weird to think I only have like 10-12 more weeks to go. We are all excited to welcome a new little one into our home, but way freaked at the same time. How are you supposed to go to the grocery store, get ready for church, sleep, or even go on a date with two kids? I'll stop worrying because one thing I do remember with Kaden was that a new baby brings a ton of love. I'm excited for that!!

Cute Fall Pictures

Kaden is such a joy in our lives. We can't imagine life without him. He always has a smile on his face and his new favorite thing is to give you hugs and say "LUB OO" {Love you}. So sweet!!

Kaden loves to twist himself up in the swing and then pick up his feet while the swing unwinds itself. So cute to watch. He says "woah" over and over unless he falls off then he adds "crash" in the mix of his many "woahs".

Baby Paycen is growing like a champ. It's so entertaining to lay in bed at night and watch my stomach move. Every time I tell Ty to watch, he stops moving {like he knows some how}. Then he goes back to exercising as soon as Ty stops watching. It's funny being pregnant the second time because you slowly remember what is was like being pregnant with the first. Like the other day I totally ran into the wall with my stomach. My muscle memory still thinks I'm skinny and I didn't judge the turn with my new body proportions correctly. It took me a sec to figure out what I ran into then I realized "Oh yeah...my belly like totally sticks out there now". Watch out...wide berth coming through!!

Halloween 2008

Let's admit to eachother that Halloween isn't as much fun as it used to be. I remember as a kid my favorite part of Halloween was dressing up in crazy costumes. So the costume part is still really fun for me but trying to make your 2-yr-old and your husband have as much fun as you do kindof ruins your own fun. Party poopers...

What Kaden really wanted to do instead of trick or treating.

I had fun dressing up and I took Kaden to a trunk or treat. It was a disaster. I will have to admit to something though. I put Kaden on the couch to draw his fake scruffy beard right before we were going to leave for the trunk or treat. Then the phone rang and I was talking to Beth in the kitchen for maybe 3-5 min. I came back and I found Kaden sleeping on the couch. What was I supposed to do? I spent hours getting dressed up and Kaden was all dressed up almost ready to go. If I didn't wake him up then we would miss it, but if I did wake him up then the tired monster Kade would be with me all night. I couldn't make up my mind until he rolled off the couch and I caught him before crashing, just enough julting to wake him up. I decided to go and we went to the trunk or treat. Kaden cried almost the whole time. Was is worth it? I still don't know. So now I have changed my mind about loving Halloween. I guess we will see what happens next year.

Waiting...

Image I feel like I am in High School again...just waiting around for a phone call from a boy!! Except that boy is my husband who just happens to be on the fishing trip of a lifetime in Canada. Ty promised to call me last night and nothing so this morning I am just chillin at the house with my jamms on and no makeup afraid I will miss the phone call if I go anywhere. I told Ty that I needed a cell phone. lol!! That makes me laugh...Knowing me...even with a cell phone I would still be here in my jamms.

Ty did email me that picture of him fishing a couple days ago. At least I can see that he is alive and he looks like he is having fun. That is a pretty big brown trout...Lucky guy!

Why did I do that?

Image I am so mad at myself...I just wanted to let you all know. So one of my all time favorite things to do as a nurse is to put in IV's. I know it sounds mean but really...IV's are hard and I pride myself when my patient tells me they are a hard stick and I get it the first try. So last night at work this gal comes to our floor in obvious Labor. I rush to her room and attempt an IV. I put the tourniquet on and find she has tiny, squirly veins with lots of valves...perfect. I blew the vein on tries 1 and 2 but the third time is a charm. I get awesome flashback in my catheter, pull the needle out and attach the IV tubing. While I pull away to unclamp the tubing and start the IV infusion, I notice something dangling from my glove. "You have got to be kidding me!!" was all I was thinking. I had accidentally screwed a part of my glove to the hub of my catheter where the tubing goes in and when I pulled away I had actually pulled the whole IV out. Sooo... the IV catheter was dangling from my glove. It took 2 more tries from another nurse to finally get that damn IV in. Why did I do that? That poor girl was poked 5 times. So needless to say...I am so mad at myself and a reminder to all my nurse friends...Make sure your glove isn't stuck in the hub of your catheter when attaching the tubing. It will make for a bad night.

Chores

Yes!! Even a 2-yr-old can have chores to do around the house/yard. One of Kaden's is to feed the cats. Since we got them for Kaden this summer I only think that it's appropriate for him to have to feed them.

Image

Kaden almost gets all of the food in the dish.

ImageTrying to pick up the food that fell out of the dish during meal time can sometimes be a challenge. Fortunately, Kaden's man enough for the job!

Image Daisy and Sierra!!

Does this answer your questions? Yes we still have the cats. Unfortunately...I mean Joyfully they survived the summer and now we have to take them to get neutered. If we didn't, I think my new nickname will be the cat lady. Yikes!!

Future Athlete

Kaden got a soccer ball for his birthday and absolutely loves it. He carries that thing under his arm like it's attached to him. Sometimes he sneaks up on the ball and tries to wrestle with it but ends up getting bucked off saying "Crash".

Image Kaden and his prized possession.

Image Great kick little man!!

I wish that I had my camera for a very sweet moment with Kaden this morning. I was lying on the couch watching Baby Paycen doing flips and Kaden comes over and puts his hand on my tummy. He kept saying "Woah" and "Wowww" in his cute little sing song tone of voice when Paycen would kick. Then he kissed my tummy saying "Baby" over and over. To end the cute show he just had to blow raspberries and give me his scrunchy nosed smile that we all love. Way sweet!!

Cousins

Image This summer my sister came to visit and we were able to take pictures of all the cousins. They love playing with eachother. It has been fun to watch the boys because they are all 2 year olds or close to it. From left to right we have Kaden, Jacob, Ashlynn, Catherine, and Treston. What a fun group of kids.

Oh now that I think about it...this group isn't complete because a new member has been added. My sister in law Beth just had a little girl Arianna. So Treston has a new little sister. Congrats to them. She's beautiful!!

Yesterday, Ty, Kaden and I went to a straw maze out in Salem. I brought my camera but didn't bring it into the maze with us. oops...pictures would have been nice. It was really fun though. Kaden led most the way taking us to the end in like 10 min. So we went back through and really got lost and it took us about another 45 min to find our way out again. Ohh hey Camille, Jessica, Tara, Monica, and Fay...guess who I saw there? A friend from nursing school, MARK!! I can't remember his last name, Boehler I think, but we visited for a minute. It was fun to catch up.

Happy Birthday Kaden

Our big kid just turned two-years-old!! I can't believe it...time goes by so fast. Family came over on Sunday for cake and ice-cream. We were lucky it was nice outside because the kids got to play before we opened presents and ate cake.

Thankful Thursday

Image I am thankful for...

1: Tyrel for teaching Kaden how to say "Weiner".
2: Homemade bread
3. Our swing set...I can go outside in my pajamas and no make-up to let Kaden slide and swing
4. Fall weather
5. Lidocaine...so I didn't have to feel the dentist hacking at my tooth to add another silver filling to my collection

Have a great Thursday everyone!!

Baby bump

Okay so the last baby bump picture wasn't very good. It looks like I was sticking my hips forward along with making a stupid face at Ty that the bulge was hidden. I think the strips in this picture does the bump justice. It's there, I promise.

Image Steph's baby bump at 21 weeks.

I have felt the baby move since like 16 weeks in this pregnancy. With Kaden I think I was 22 weeks. Ty can even feel him move! I love watching his face light up when his hand gets kicked or punched. I guess I can say that now while the baby is so little, but when he's bigger I will be like "Stop kicking my ribs kiddo! geez!!"

Playing Outside

Ty, Kade and I were getting as much play time outside last week before the cold weather stays. Kaden loves to jump on our tramp. It's been fun to watch him go from just sitting on the tramp to actually jumping on two feet. He does somersaults and once he did a front flip. Crazy kid!!

Image Showing off the baby bump!

Kade is going to be an awesome big brother. He gives my tummy kisses. Okay, okay...I tell him to give the baby a kiss and he comes over and gives the baby raspberry kisses. I think those count. I can just imagine Kaden blowing on a newborn's tummy and thinking it is funny.

My Exciting News

EDC 2-1-09

Image

Well I am sure most of you have guessed what my exciting news is. I have been dying to post this post and yes the rumors are true...Ty and I are expecting a little baby boy February 1st!! Kaden is going to be a big brother!!

I keep telling him that there is a baby in my belly but he doesn't believe me. He once pulled up my shirt and said, "no" while shrugging his shoulders. He then toddles to his room and gets his baby (a teddy bear) and helps me put the bear under my shirt. Then he was satisfied with the story of "There's a baby in my belly". It was really cute.

So I am 20 weeks and starting to have a baby bump that I can't hide anymore. I have just been sucking in my stomach if I go any where trying to hide the bulging fact, but no longer. The news is out. I am pregnant and I can let the belly hang out.

Thankful Thursday

ImageI am thankful for...

1. my hubby Tyrel for sincerely apologizing to me for secretly buzzing his head on a #1 with the clippers.
2. Kaden for picking up the diapers on the floor I forget about and putting them in the garbage for me.
3. Little Ceasars $5 pizza's.
4. Nail polish...my toes look tons better
-thanks Mom and Beth for such a great time getting pedicures together
5. Nesquik...I have never drunk so much milk (choc. milk) in all my life.
6. Women who want epidurals...it makes work not quite as stressful

Today is a good day to be thankful for all the big and little things in life. Thanks Genevieve for the idea to write down some things I am thankful for.

Labor Day

We went boating at Palisades Res. this Labor Day Weekend. It was so much fun. The weather was perfect like 80 degrees, no wind and the water was awesome. Kaden had so much fun! He was able to jump in and swim a little and then walk around in the boat eating cookies all day. He snored the whole way home.

Image Kaden getting ready to jump in.

ImageAfter jumping in he regretted it. The water was frigid!

Image

Trying to smile after he got out of the water with Ty.

Image

Kaden is happy again with a cookie in hand!

So I thought that after the first time he jumped in he wouldn't want to get in again because it was so cold. Well I was wrong. I think he jumped in like 3-4 times. Each time staying in a little longer than the last, but still crying the whole time. What a funny kid because after we put him back in the boat he was whining to go back in. Make up your mind!

I wish his little life jacket suit had a handle on the back of it. There were many times we almost missed him before he made a jump for it. A handle or something would have been handy to hold onto him.
