In this body of work, Zion Yaynu invites us into a new pace. Her studio is no longer a sealed, uninterrupted environment where hours stretch without interruption. Paintings begin between feedings, during naps, in the brief stretches before a cry redirects her attention. What once moved forward in long, controlled sessions now develops in fragments of time, and this body of work sits fully inside that reality.

The exhibition focuses on that early state of motherhood, the space between who the artist has been and who she is becoming. It refuses to dramatize the moment as loss, and it avoids turning difficulty into spectacle. Instead, it stays close to the texture of daily life, where exhilaration and limitation coexist. Interim names this in-between space, a period that is temporary but formative, as the artist approaches this new season not as an erasure of self but a test of continuity.

The rhythm of the paintings mirrors the rhythm of the days that produced them, broken and resumed, compressed yet focused. Gestures pause and resume. Layers build with urgency.

Decisions are made quickly because they have to be. The underlying question is direct: what does it mean to continue creating when time is scarce and attention is divided?

These paintings are not made in spite of motherhood. They are shaped by it. The constraints become structure and the interruptions become part of the method. This transformation does not erase her identity as an artist. It sharpens her claim to it.

Interim leaves us with something direct: you do not disappear when your life changes. You renegotiate time. You defend your space. You decide what remains yours. And here, Zion Yaynu makes that decision very clear.
