You thought that moonlit spark was on
a bridle-buckle, yes?
Or on the D-ring of the bit
that glinted as she
turned her head.

You looked again and it was gone
and you held out your hand.
Her eyes as gentle as a fawn's,
she came to you,
you foolish man.

Her muzzle rested lightly
in your palm, but then you saw
the wings unfold from under all that mane.
She smiled and you knew
