Cambodian families become a Tabitha family by entering into the savings program. They start by saving money; sometimes just a few cents a week. Tabitha staff members make weekly visits to homes to collect the money and pay interest on the savings every 10 weeks. From here they develop goals, possibly buying a pot to cook with or a 3 months supply of rice. As their savings grow they progress to items that create a self sustaining income like pigs or a bicycle and eventually, a home.

One of the ways Tabitha Singapore supports the families in Cambodia is by selling Tabitha’s cottage industry silk products. The cottage industry funds the savings program and gives families a steady source of income. Other programs include the purchasing of pigs, water wells, and building houses.
