A variant is a specific combination of condition (Near Mint, Lightly Played, etc.), foil treatment, and language. When you create an alert for a card, you can add as many variants as you want. They don't count toward your alert limit. Only distinct products count. One alert for "Lightning Bolt" with 4 variants is still just 1 alert.
