Birthday for Lily, Birthday for Jesus, the Southern way!

After a very long and over-delayed flight, Lillian, Daniel and I arrived in Birmingham, Alabama at 12:30 a.m. Lily was so exhausted (didn't sleep the entire flight trip until her melt-down moment at the very end), but Granny and PawPaw were so excited to see her sleeping face. It was nice to step off the plane into 50 degree weather, and the next few days after that were gorgeous and in the upper 60s! Lily loves being outside.
Image
Speaking of which, outside time is great and we have a lot of videos from our snowshoeing adventure and Lily's world outside thanks to our new GoPro. Unfortunately, the files are EXTREMELY big and Daniel has to take a considerable amount of time to format them to fit on fb or the blog...so what I'm saying is, we'll all just have to settle with pictures. :) The videos are great though, ;)

The birthday girl!
I was concerned that Lily would not do well for her birthday. She was pretty tired the day after and she had another melt-down at my grandparents' house. Her birthday was the 19th, only 2 days after we flew in. Surprisingly, she slept like a baby("well, a baby that sleeps like an adult who sleeps well"--name that movie) for her naps and she was well-rested and ready to party! We like to go over-the-top here in the South about a lot of things and throwing parties are no different. My granny threw a great first birthday party for the Lily B. Filled with a gi-normous cake, smash cake, a ba-zillion finger foods (chick-fil-a included) and lots and lots and lots of presents, this was a party to remember. Not only that, but Lily pulverized her smash cake; it was the funniest thing to see. It was also her first time having that much sugar, but she did well, and had a good ole' sugar crash about an hour 1/2 into the party. All-in-all, it was great to see most of the family (including Dad, Grandma and Grandaddy)!

We have enjoyed being in Alabama with the fam so much. Even though it's been 2 1/2 years, it is so familiar and inviting. Family is fam, and we all know what that means, but we have enjoyed every moment.

Christmas was exceptional; all the family came out including Alex, Kyle and Niki! We had another feast of food, and lots and lots of toys for the two great-grandchildren (man, are they spoiled--I don't know how we are going to bring all these toys home!) We didn't do a lot of mine and Daniel's traditions, but that's ok; we wanted to follow the family's traditions this year. We learned a lot though, and we are excited about next year and the things we are going to do with Lily when she is two-years-old.

meeting her great-grandma!
Lily has loved every moment with her extended family! She loves Granny and she has sugar just for her Granny. Mom (my mom) is dubbed "Mi Mi"--I don't know why. Dad (my dad) is "Grandpa Craig." She loves Grandma (my grandma...confusing, but you get used to it); she will go right up to her and give her wonderful open-mouth kisses. Everyone in the family has been teaching her a lot of new things. She is now able to say a lot of new words. She blows kisses (in an interesting way). When she is going to bed she will promptly wave "bye" to everyone. She still loves her nursing and will now try to undress me...hmmm...gotta work on that one. ;) Her appetite has grown too while she has been here. She loves Southern cooking, and she loves Granny's lasagna! I've never seen her eat so much. I'm proud of my girl for liking sweet potato casserole, deviled eggs (she devours these guys), and dressing...oh, and don't forget the BBQ! She loves ribs. She is growing, so it's ok for her to add some pounds, but I think I've gained 5 lbs just by looking at all this food! This kind of goodness doesn't come very often though and it's worth it all! Daniel asked me why I just can't recreate it. I told him I could, but it just wouldn't be the same. So true.

2012 has wrapped up as a great year! We have started in Rexburg with a new little baby, moved to Kenai, AK and had a lot of crazy adventures. I don't know if the story of how we drove to our 4,600 sq ft. home in -28 degree weather with a 4 week old is ever going to get old. We ended up in Rexburg again in September, successfully completed another semester of classes, and visited the Southern family in Alabama. I'd say it was a great year, indeed! I'm sure 2013 will be extremely eventful! :)

Did someone meet Santa?

I promised some pictures, right? And seeing that I am about 3 months behind, I'll do just a little bit of catching up too from the past few weeks. Enjoy!

She loves to take whatever I'm eating: this time it was a yummy breakfast burrito.

The decision!

You may be wondering what we have been up to these past few months...well, after all of our adventurous moving, we settled in Rexburg, Idaho where Daniel and I began another wonderful semester at Brigham Young University-Idaho. It has been an interesting semester; juggling classes, work, and a very active baby, we have been very busy. We have made it, though, and now we only have one week left of classes and two weeks left until we go to Alabama for the Holidays! Oh, I can't wait.

Lillian is growing like a little weed. She is getting bigger and smarter by the day. She is a tricksy little Bohman...how did she learn to do that?! ;) I love our little girl. She gives the best hugs, open-mouth kisses, cuddles, and her smile is awesome. She has this way of smiling really big and throwing her head back (like she is trying to show off her 7 teeth). I love it when she smiles like that; not only is is cute, but she does it when she is so happy; normally from a food that she loves or when she is being funny. She really loves food, music, nursing, dancing, people, cats, dogs, and Jesus! She actually says, "Jeszzzus" or something like that. He baby talk is funny:

Mom: Da-do
Dad: Da Da
Nurse: Dis
More: Dis
Up: Da
Down: Da
Get me that Thing, Now!: Dis Dis (as she points)
Water: Da
Jesus: Well, it's pretty close to the actually thing..haha, go figure.

Lily has been walking since 8.5 months. She started about 2 weeks after we moved in. She was a little cranky with me one day and got frustrated cause I wouldn't hold her and took her first steps. I remember her grunting or something like a bear noise, then stalking off, but it was more like a bear noise and then waddling off.
This girl loves books and loves to be read to. She likes to turn the page and talk about what is going on or laugh excessively when you say, "a bear!" I will ask her to get Goodnight Moon out of her toy box, and she will get it and hand it right to me and turn around to sit in my lap. It is part of our night-time routine and she loves every bit of it...sometimes.
Daniel did get accepted to the medschool of his choice, and we will be going to Maryland in August of 2013! We are so excited and proud of him. We are also going to be spending 6 weeks in Alabama for his officer training for the Air force. So, that means more time with my family, yippie!

Many decisions are soon approaching. I have got a major one coming up that I am so torn by. It is something I have prayed and prayed about but I'm not sure what is the right thing to do. I have the wonderful opportunity to go to Oregon in May for one month to participate in an intense study program in Marine Biology! It's my dream-come-true! But that would mean leaving Daniel and Lily behind in Rexburg (they are not allowed to come...blah, blah, blah) for one month. That would mean I would be gone from my husband and my baby for a month!!! It kills me write about it. Such a great opportunity, but I feel like I should be with them.
Then, there is the fact that I can drop my Biology minor and graduate a semester early. That would mean I would actually graduate in April ( I would only have two English classes left). I have so many credits, so I could do an elective minor instead of a declared minor. That would be awesome as well, but it would mean I wouldn't be doing the Marine Bio thing in May. But that would mean I would be with my baby and husband. Oh, the indecision! I really don't know what to do. I still have to get accepted to the program (I'm not sure how long they are going to take on that), and I still have to get my "new" graduation plan accepted. As of now, I'm just waiting, but wondering at the same time what is the best path. A lot more prayers and counsel are needed.

Pictures will follow shortly. *Please enjoy the music while your party goes to bed.

WOW!! May was the last time I updated the blogs????

Ok, ok, ok......here's my reasons: moving (three times--one was out of the state), baby, school, internship ending, school, baby, life, sleep, school, baby, life, school, baby, life...

Well, now that I have redeemed myself, I will tell you what has gone on.

We moved from the big house.
Daniel had a birthday
Dad (Grandpa Craig) came to Alaska for two weeks! Lily had so much fun with him.
We stayed with the Bohman clan in Palmer for a week.
We had lots of fun. Lily started to stand on her own, and crawl up the stairs.
Daniel's job ended (his internship)
We moved.
We went to the Alaska State fair.
We left Alaska.
We arrived in Rexburg, moved into a trailer (no neighbors, yea!!). Daniel loves his loud music!
Lily got four teeth
Lily started to say, "Da, Da, Da, Da"
Ate Chick-fil-A
Lily started walking.
School started.
Ate Chick-fil-A
Went to Oregon--training for Daniel's job, playtime for me and Lily with the Hebb's
Lily started to say, "Ma, Ma, Ma, Ma, Ma"
Ate Chick-fil-A
Avoided homework

Next week Daniel has an interview in Maryland with the medschool of his choice. We are so excited to see what the future holds.

New things happening everywhere!

Since the little one is asleep, and I've done some of the packing for our visit to Palmer this weekend, I'd thought I would write a few words for the good ole memory.
Did I ever say that Lily loves people?  Well she does. I can't believe how social this girl is. She loves these two girls in our ward (Maja and Rosalie). She just can't get enough of them. She loves my cuddles and loves to fall asleep in my arms, she loves her dad doing crazy things with her like walking in the hiking backpack on bear trails, being hung upside down, and sitting on the back patio as the sun is floating in the west and listening to Dad talk to Grandpa!
Lillian turned 5 months on the 19th. I cherish these moments. We are blessed with a wonderful, beautiful daughter.
Here are a few milestone updates:
Lily is able to roll both ways
She can turn herself around
She is able to sit up unattended for a while. I still get nervous with this one, but she is doing great at balancing.
She is getting up on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth. (once she actually moved forward) Yikes!
She is a talker. The other day on the changing pad, she said "aaaaahahahahbllaaaaah blah, blah" as she was moving her head and shaking her hands.
She wants to eat everything! She grabs at everything and insists we put everything in her mouth! It seems she is almost ready for solids!

This couple decided to get really close to this eagle, so we thought we should as well.

Ok, I was a little scared that the eagle might attack...

...so I asked daniel to take a pic in the car.

But when I decided to brave it and go out and take a close up, this is what happened. Attack of the eagles!
