I'm actually very new to castlevania and getting into it after Bloodstained (is this heresy? I apologise if it is.). I am a fair way into symphony of the night on Vita, and really enjoying it.

whichever level boss left the chat-up line on the game over screen, no, that's not how it works. I defeat you for the right to date you. if I date you on the game over screen, i could be just anyone. yes I know they're dark and have slow music and are romantic but, um, that one isn't actually a particularly good one. meet me on Ys' game over screen and we'll talk.

other than that I tried playing the first castlevania game on the collection on the switch and its fun but difficult and i can't finish it is so i can move on to the next on the collection :( and then there's all the ethical quandaries of freely available savestates and learning the game vs playing through it as the proper experience, and whether i'll be yelled at online.

I bought the two on the wii u as well, I dunno when to try playing them, maybe play through SoTN first?

(just fyi this is very strictly not a request for gameplay tips from any experienced castlevania players, I will play them strictly blind)

the 'them' in the context is a singular gender-neutral person. do I write 'the machines they used were roughly the same shape and size as themself' or 'the machines they used were roughly the same shape and size as themselves'?

Just a record for the March special card which I'll hopefully get round to working on. I'm also doing 40 fandoms, I have two exchange fics that need writing and I want to try to get back into my regular prompts. My mood has really been low lately and the drama I inadvertently caused on DW is making me feel unwell. I guess it was my fault but being yelled at and then banned from, as far as I can tell, two people's pages and a bunch of community groups they run, left a bad taste in my mouth and there's some challenges I just don't want to do as a result.

40 Fandoms is going well, anyway - although I have made no progress in writing any of it up online. There's a bit of a theme this year of 'let's cross Shining Force over with a bunch of other things'.

Ah, I love so many, and in different ways! I relate way more to bosses than player characters in general, and I think I'm more likely to be a level boss. I'm getting too old and out of shape and not pretty enough to be a main character. A boss can look like pretty much anything. I kinda like to have a home that I take care of, hoard things inside like a dragon and kick rowdy adventurers out of. I usually don't agree with the prevalent morality. I am not confident enough to always go out there and help everyone and make the world a better place. A level boss usually has a specific relic to guard or whatever and their morality can vary from 'I genuinely think this is the right thing to do' to 'I am trying to sow as much chaos and despair in the Universe as possible' to 'humans tasty, beast hungry'.

well, that was an interesting and vivid dream I had when I passed out from cold again... I was with... what looked like off-brand Ed and Ein from Cowboy Bebop (Ein was a very fat cat), and also a random... Shadowrun Dwarf, possibly? we had all found out we were on a Government hit list (at first generic Evil Government but then morphed into a squad of Ironbloods led by Gilliath and Claire) because of a failed genetic experiment none of us remembered, or something. and also my dad and Ed's dad were both acting really weird and aggressive and kept wandering off. the last thing I remember we were under siege in Ed's house, which was a generic council flat, and we were all busy protecting cat!Ein. Gilliath threw the Dwarf out of a window, Ed was in a fight with Claire, I was trying to get cat!Ein out of the house safely.

also it was a plot point that everything was Christmassy but it wasn't anywhere near Christmas.

*shrugs* dreams. anyway, i need to work that into a scene in a fic.

The pattern seems to be: comparatively (to some of the really obscure shit I write) well known fandoms, short to medium length, most of them have a pairing but not all of them. I think I got way more recognition after I started entering a lot of exchanges and writing more requests. Also, I write more relationships these days and am even braving some kinkier stuff. I can't write squicky biological details of sex, they make my skin crawl, but I kinda like suggesting and implying naughty stuff, particularly stuff that is not the actual sex.

Also, for almost every one of these, a Mother, Xenoblade or Sonic series fic was near the top somewhere. These seem like the most popular fandoms for me to write for by far. Basically, if its in Smash, people like it.

so, today I saw avengers endgame.

quick/spoiler free review: It performed the function I needed it to. Otherwise it really did not come across as interesting as people made it out to be. A perfectly acceptable film, just not worth the hype.
