i think hollywood should just give up and give us a movie combining all the superheroes ever into one movie fighting a big black hole ten thousand lightyears away, and they do it by making the super evil, can't be tamed by words or reasoning black hole eat some explosive thing and then explode in a shower of a ten minute long explosion. in 3-D. add some transformers in there too. and astroboy. and captain kirk. it might be 10 hours long, but at least for the next decade we won't have to see another hero franchise and appropriately make way for the new dynasty of fairytale movies.

i've been sick for the past week! i don't want to disclose how much tv i've watched during that time, but it is... a lot. i don't know what kind of power-flu it was this time around because for me, i will get sick once a year, and only for a day, two max. this thing wiped me off of my feet for a full 8 days (i'm still sniffly). BUT I AM OK. )o) I THINK. )o)

on jealousy

anyways! i was reading through tumblr, and there are some very jealous people there. and their patterns are very alike! they sit on some nice artists blogs and anonymously say things like "i wish....i had your talent...i will never be as talented...tell me your secrets...i'd do anything to do what you do..."

and i'm thinking, that, well, these art people-- being tumblr famous or whatever bnf is more than just a fandom pursuit, because many many many of the people who are 'famous' or whatnot have essentially dedicated their lives to the craft. they've went to uni majoring in it, they eat/breathe/sleep it, and really, depend on it to survive. they depend on their ability to have their art or writing or whatnot be captivating in a way.

so if you like someone's work, please wish them sucess instead of scorning them! i don't think there's an occupation that relies so heavily on them actually being popular on a mass scale, which makes their career v. fickle. wish them all the best, it's a hardknock life out there. OAO;;

Friending is: open. Please comment before adding though.

However, note that: I may not comment often. If I don't have anything to say, I don't have anything to say, please don't take my silence the wrong way. I honestly believe in the quality of a friendship, not necessarily the quantity and friend cuts just aren't my thing. Therefore, for this journal: comment or don't as you please; you are not bound, you don't have to prove anything to me.

It's been lovely meeting you. ♥

While I'm not incredibly fond of read-online manga sites, I do realize it is pretty useful if you want to try out a new series but don't actually want to download before you know if it's any good or not or keep track of manga that you like, but wouldn't want to download because it's not your favorite.

In particular, arguably the most popular of these is ONEMANGA.com and right behind that is MANGAFOX.com. While they do the aforementioned sampling benefit, most scanalators I meet hate these places bad and I can understand why: the quality of the scans are screwed up, grainy, hard to read, and all that work that the scanalators put into making it nice is fucked up by these sites. Plus, in the case of onemanga, it's first come first serve, whoever gets theirs in first gets to be hosted, no matter the quality (or lack thereof). Mangafox, while with a bigger database and selection because of the user driven uploads, the quality of the scans is even more messed up than onemanga.

The better solution? MANGATOSHOKAN.COM. Not only does it practically eliminate the problem of scan screwover, but it's user uploading driven AND allows for multiple uploads of the same chapter by different groups as well as grading the quality of it. For series that is only done by one group, these features and their benefits isn't conspicuous, but for popular manga like One Piece or Naruto, the usefulness is quite clear: you can choose what quality, what group's version you want to read, instead of what onemanga or mangafox dishes out for you.

As an example, here's the same page from Yankee-kun to Megane-chan from all three websites, plus the download:

Downloaded Scan | Mangatoshokan | Onemanga | Mangafox

If it's not apparent, the quality gets worse and worse, but Mangatoshokan has done the best to retain the quality, and for that, I find myself quite impressed. Right now it's still fledging as it started up not long ago, but I sincerely hope it's a push into caring about the quality of the scans and giving kudos and acknowledgment for the people who really strive hard to make the scans the best it can be.

Day 3 of sickness! WHOO HOO! But unfortunately, that's not the point of this post oh no, the point of this post is...ok. fine. I didn't think that far yet, but take a look what's on the cnn headline news:

It's all good times for Barack Obama (US), Silvio Berlusconi (ITA) and Dmitry Medvedev (RU) at the G-20 summit.

LOL Obama and his new friends are like posing at the game or smthg before they get smashed, well idk where Mr. Medvedev is looking at (maybe he already sneaked a couple of drinks) but Hu Jintao at the front's like, "Uh...I'm gonna...sit this one out, you guys;;;"

Oh! And this video of all the major wars of the twentieth century to present day, told in food. Truth to be told, I was drooling by 30 seconds in. What a waste of food. ;A;

on disappointment

There's a difference, I think, between anger and disappointment. Anger is what you feel towards something you dislike, something that just rubs you the wrong way, grates on your nerves and all around punches you in the face every time it's mentioned in your presence. Disappointment on the other hand, is born out of love. Or at least, a permutation of it. Think about it: to have disappointment, you have to actually expect something good from the thing/person BEFOREHAND, you have to have a degree of hope, of pride in something or someone to be brought down to the level of disappointment. It's how sometimes, sometimes you realize what people mean when they say that disappointment hurts so much more than someone being angry at you: you've hurt someone who loves you.

There's. A new trilogy. of Professor Layton.

WTF. I'm ready to strangle Level 5, it's like if your mum takes you to a supermarket for the first time and then says, "ok stay here, mum can't afford you anymore, so try to find a nice set of parents to go home with." and then you believe her and then you sit there for 15 minutes sobbing and trying to hide from the security guard and find a nice lady who looks like she can bake fantastic cookies and then she comes back with all her shopping done and she's like "LOL JK LET'S GO HOME YOU'VE BEEN A GOOD GIRL TODAY 8Db". ;ADJSDJSJFDS;JKSDLKJ It's like you want to laugh but you inevitably cry. For days.

on the unseen

You can find meaning in the gaudy, overdone, and supposedly majestic but not necessarily in the way it was set up for you to do so; those photo negatives make more sense than the real thing. What tries to put itself as complex, engaging, and overbearing actually don't mean as much if you simply work a little harder at peeling the layers away. Same thing goes the other way, what seems so simple is actually embroiled with too much minuscule details, history, and nuances; if you want to chip away the surface, you'll find yourself at the center of the earth for your troubles.

On the other hand, how are all you today?

I feel like a twelve year old who's listening to the Jonas Brothers for the first time. If only they invested more in explosions, monkeys, and promises to revolutionize the world I would have joined the legions.

But no! Instead, I'm right now really really enamored with a Deutschman and his legion of apes playing instruments and jogging around Berlin in a suit and blowing up trash all over the place.

This is me. These are my feelings. That nearly 50 years, I think all this still means something, is still a problem. And well, fine, I got a little teary-eyed over it. It's idealistic, incredibly, ridiculously so, but...it still hurts, y'know. It still does.

Hi guys~ had a good Valentine's? ME TOO...except I totally forgot it was Vday for most of the day, since...

9am-noon philosophy class, then go back and find [livejournal.com profile] rokakujin around and chatted with her (i guess that was my vday date lol) and then...fell asleep for 8 hours until 10 pm.

FANTASTIC RIGHT?

But actually it was, today's philosophy class was pretty fun, if albeit tedious after the professor explained the same thing like 6 times to the same guy in the back of the room and since it actually was fun and i actually UNDERSTOOD IT, i'll let you  guys...try it?! See if you can understand St. Anselm. To reiterate: this isn't my ideas, this is his, so yeah. Don't think any conclusion that i make of this reflects how i feel. JUST THINK OF THE LOGIC~*~*

1. God = Something that which nothing greater can be conceived.

2. This "something than which nothing greater can be conceived" can be understood by even a fool and thus must exist in understanding (the mind).

3. If this stwngcbc is in the understanding AND exists in reality, then it is greater than the stwngcbc that is only in the mind. --> STWNGCBC + Existence > STWNGCBC alone

4. THEREFORE: Since the STWNGCBC + Existence is greater than the STWNGCBC, then by default, the STWNGCBC is not the greatest thing because it is less than STWNGCBC + Existence, which is the greatest thing. THEREFORE: STWNGCBC HAS TO EXIST. And going back to number one, STWNGCBC = God therefore God exists.

Fun, huh?

I'm watching American Idol again.

It's such a horrible show. but there's sobbing 13-year old fangirls on it that look like the world just blew up in their faces when David Cook won and their Archuletta didn't last year.

Ok, scratch that, this is the best show ever.

I wish every week would be like this. :'D

Edit: Is there a point in an extra judge? It's been 30 seconds and I hate her already.

on virtue

So...what is it? Wikipedia tells me that it's: moral excellence. Personal virtues are characteristics valued as promoting individual and collective well-being, and thus good by definition. A few virtues that I've found to expand all borders and religions happen to be: prudence, acceptance, compassion, truthfulness, patience. Some of you may be scoffing already and asking me what's the point. But let's take a step back. Where did it come from? Society, parental figures, people to look up to. Fair enough, but let's dig a little deeper. Where did they get it? And to what extent, what started it all? My guess? Civilization. When one day, someone realized that hey, if you be so and so, things are pretty peachy. In that for many of these things, virtue is meant to benefit others. Because with all honesty, I'd find it a little hard to practice things such as 'honesty' or 'compassion' if there's nothing or noone to practice it onto. And those types of 'individualistic' virtues, taking a step back, seems more altruistic than one might think. Things such as patience, courage...?

In one way, I sort of find it quite beautiful. That we are endowed with the almost instinctive sense of 'virtue' winds up to be the instinctive sense to help one another. We may not always adhere to it as well as we should, but at least it's there. At least it's still acceptable and just.

any thoughts? ♥

PS: I love my nature of politics/philosophy classes. Even if it does take me millions of years to finish with the readings.
