August in a nutshell

We spent August mostly without a car. We enrolled the kids in school and met Risepa at the front desk. She guessed that we were LDS, and offered to drive our entire family to church for the next few weeks. She also loaned us her van for shopping trips once a week until our car arrived. Meeting Risepa was a huge blessing to our family.

We hung a clothesline, and the girls were very creative in hanging things to dry.

We love our huge open area behind our house.

We met some of the local wildlife. These vultures found some roadkill in front of our house.

The kids started school! Bailey is in fourth grade. TJ is in first grade. Joey is in fifth grade. And they were in the local paper.

The kids finished our summer reading challenge. They earned a trip to Legoland, tickets to a major league baseball game in Atlanta, swimming, ice cream, and lots of personal satisfaction.

I discovered downtown Columbus. And Erick and I started cycling there regularly. It is a 23-mile ride round trip from our house. It is also beautiful.

Our friend Eric graduated from Career Course. We love living close to such great friends. Bobbi and Eric have been so fun to hang out with.

We are enjoying our community pool.

We got all of our furniture back, mostly in one piece. We tried to make good use of the space that we have.

David turned three!

We don't usually go all out for birthdays. And this one was no different.

Our friends the Cartiers invited us and the Websters and the Towles over for a barbecue. We sabotaged their plans and called it a birthday party for David. We really didn't change anything except add candles to the dessert and bring two gifts for him to open. It's always more fun with an audience.

David was VERY excited to blow out the candles, he started blowing long before they got close enough to feel his efforts.

David is a sweet boy. I'm so glad he's part of our family!
