3 Months

Image
Ava & Elsie

Our little ladies are 3 months old now! You know what they say: Time flies when you're overwhelmed and sleep deprived...oh wait that's not the way it goes, is it? Anyway, 3 months have flown by so quickly and we have had some fun along the way. Here are some milestones from the past month:
-holding their heads up really well
-longer attention spans, less sleep during the day
-more tummy time and playtime, especially with each other
-much less colic (thank goodness!)
-Both girls LOVE music, they love to have anyone sing to them.
-Ava LAUGHED! (It was so cute, she was staring at Elsie and Elsie randomly started crying...Ava just let out a huge giggle, it was SO cute! Elsie hasn't laughed yet...)
-Both girls roll from tummy to back, and back to tummy now too
We had their 3 month pictures taken today and they turned out SO great...if I were a stage mom these 2 would be in pageants or commercials or something. I mean, how could Hollywood not love these faces? Image

Vacation Bible School

Kaydree went with her cousins this week to Vacation Bible School at a local Lutheran church - it's basically a week of arts and crafts, singing songs, and learning bible stories (maybe it's a southern thing, I don't know, but all the local churches do it). If nothing else I thought it would be a chance for her to do something fun with her cousins and get out of the house a little bit. But she actually really liked it, she LOVES crafts. And on the last day they had some fun inflatable water slides for the kids too.

My conclusion...
Vacation Bible School-Free, T-shirt-$7.00, Loading up 4 kids in carseats twice a day for 5 days-approximately 2 1/2 hours of my time (which I haven't yet decided a price for), Giving a little summer fun to one of the cutest girls I know - priceless.

Prima Ballerinas

Last night these little beauties put on quite the show. My friend Wendy taught a neighborhood dance class for six weeks this summer that culminated in a fun ballet recital and potluck, complete with plenty of hot pink tutus. Unfortunately, Ryan couldn't figure out the camera so we didn't capture the dance on video, but it was about the sweetest thing I've ever seen. Kaydree looked a little like a deer in the headlights at the beginning, but she finally caught on and started dancing. It was just so fun to watch all of her little friends dance...some were trying so hard, some were waving to their moms, some were fixing their ballet slippers, and others were just watching the other girls dance. I think Kaydree's favorite part of dance class was getting dressed up to go (surprised? me neither). I don't think she's quite figured out that the class is now over...next week I'm going to have some explaining to do.

Prehistoric and Patriotic

Ryan had a long weekend off from work, so we headed down to Cleburne for a few days full of fireworks, family, and fun. Between Caitlin and I, we took loads of pictures! We started out the weekend in Glen Rose where we planned on hitting up Dino World, then Dinosaur Valley State Park to see the neat dino fossils on the riverbed. We started the day at Dino World...
ImageAll smiles, ready to roll...
Image We had a little picnic before doing some exploring...

ImageThen we took the mile long walk on a path through the cedar trees, where we saw over 100 dinosaur replicas - ROAR...

It was pretty cool, but after only 30 minutes in the 106 degree weather, we were all ready to head inside to the air conditioned museum. This next picture says it all...

Needless to say, we didn't quite make it out to the state park - it was just way too hot. We came straight home and had naps instead!

ImageWe started out the 4th by heading to the Cleburne parade...

ImageSome of the cowboys let the kids sit on and pet their horses afterwards, they loved it! Of course Ryan was jealous since he has been dying to get back on a horse for awhile now...

Image Next we grilled WAY too much food...
Image
Mmmm...polish sausage...that looks like a baker's dozen...
Image
And we spent the rest of the day in the pool. Carver loves the pool - he is absolutely fearless...

ImageThat night we headed to the far side of Lake Pat for the fireworks show. We were hoping to avoid the crowd so we could set off some fireworks of our own afterwards...but alas, the Cleburne cops were on the prowl and they weren't having it. So we just headed back to the house and lit our explosives there...take that 5-0!
ImageWhat holiday would be complete without an all night game of some sort? We played Ticket to Ride and I blew everyone out of the water (okay, so Ryan might have beat us all the night before but I reclaimed the title and came out on top)...

What a fun way to spend the holiday!
