January 16,
Leaveing our home and our puppy with my brother Stephen. Thanks Stephen for all your help. We had a direct flight to Paris, 10 plus hours. The good thing is Ben and I had an empty seat next to us so we could strech out.
January 17,
Landed in Paris and man was it cold. Because we only had 4 days our goal was to hit as many places as we could. We went to Notre Dame First, when we entered they were having a performance. We sat and listened before walking around. We did not climb to the bell tower because there was a huge line.
Next we walked to Saint Chapelle. This place had vaulted roofs with stained Glass windows going all they way up. It was very pretty with the light shining through them, and each glass window told a different bible story.
Our next stop was The Conclergerie (the prison). This was once a Palace but then made in to a prison during the revolution. This is were they held Marie Antoinette before she was put to death.
For the last stop of the night we went to Arc de Triomphe, I loved this place! We were getting there as the sun was setting. With no elevator we walked to the top 234steps. All the walking we did that day my knee was hurting so Ben (my hero) offered to carry my on his back all the way down. Lets just say he got his leg work out.
Off to dinner we found a little shop Ben had been to the year before and had Pizza and Spagetti.
January 18,
Not sleeping the night before Ben and I crashed and sleep till noon the following day. When we were up we headed out to Chateau de Verailles, what we did not know is that they were closed. The good news is that the gardens were not so we spent mosted the day walking and looking and the fountains and statues. Ben and I have a plan to come back and see the gardens when it is summer.
Before dark we left to Sacre Coeur, it reminded me of a indian palace. The timing was great because they were also having what looked like a Christmas performance.
As we were walking down the street we found a Indian restaurant and had our favorite Chicken Tikki Masala dish.
January 19,
We headed back to Verailles, This place was huge! The best part for me was the painted ceilings, so many colors I wish I could do something like that in my house. The Hall of Mirriors was cool to. I still don't know why they call it that; maybe because they had mirriors. lol.
Next stop Musee Rodin there was only 2 things Ben said were worth seeing. they were "the Thinker" and "The Gates of Hell" we did not stay because we still needed to hit Musee d'Orsay.
d'Orsay reminds me of a train station in an old movie, were the ladys had bonnetts and hoop skirts. Ben was upset because he wanted to see whistler's mother, and it was not there, it was out on loan. We had justed talked about Mr Bean disaster with the picture.
We saved the best for last that night and went to the Eiffel Tower. It wasn't dark yet so we were able to see all around it. Walking there all I could thinking about was that is a lot of steps. As we were in line to go to the top we found out that it was closed for repairs, we could only go to the 3rd floor. it was still romanic to see it up close and look at the view.
To be Continued...
Also we drove and found a sand flat Tim went crazy on it and I thought we were going to get stuck. After we stopped at a safe place, we played in the sand with the dogs.
