Update!!!

So it has been a real long time since an update. But I have a few minutes and thought I should blog some stuff.
  • Little K turned 4!!! we had a CANDY LAND themed birthday party. She had such a great time with her friends and her favorite theme ever. I will post pictures sometime.
  • Big K will be DR. K in 2 weeks!!! Oh man, after a thousand years of school we will be done. Seriously, we are so excited.

  • Our house is on the market with a realtor now. We tried for sale by owner for 60 days and had some great showings but nothing came through so we had to list with a realtor. We are still optimistic that it will sell soon (like this month:)
  • We have been selling our stuff like crazy. It is kinda sad, exciting, addicting, and empowering all at the same time.
  • Our Malibu was in an accident about 6 weeks ago. K and little K were driving and long story short a dump truck ripped the passenger doors off.  well their insurance didn't cover it and and ours didn't either. SO K fixed it that best he could with parts from the junk yard. This drastically decreased the value of car which we were going to sell next week. And then on Sunday the car was parked on the street and it was hit by a van. The guy took off but K got his plate # and they were able to find him. It has been such a blessing because they totaled the car and we are getting double what we thought it was valued at and nearly 3x what we thought we could sell it for. Serious Blessing!
  • I have been working at David's Bridal in the alterations department. I have learned soooo much. I am so grateful for the great job and all that I could learn and do there. The skills that I have learned are going to last me a life time. And I couldnt have done it without my most awesomest best friend ever. Jodi has been watching Little K while I work. Little K loves going over there, she asks every day  if it is Jodi Day. Jodi has 3 amazing kids and she is so great with them. I could not have done it without her!
  • My Dad got married this summer over the 4th of July. We were able to go out to the amazing fabulous wedding in SLC and see my dads family that I have not seen in a long time. It was great to see everyone and see my dads big day. His new wife is a very talented and creative culinary genius,  Mary Crafts.  We love her and so glad to have her part of the family. Pictures of this awesome event to come....
This all that I can come up with now.  I am sure that I am forgetting something major but I cant think what it is. I am hoping to blog more in the next six months than the last six.

The Detox/cleanse

As many of you know, I have been doing a detox/cleanse program. I have been asked lots of questions. Now, I am not an expert and really and don't know a lot about it. But I thought I would share what I have learned, what I am doing and the results I have experienced.
I picked up a book called The Detox Strategy: Vibrant Health in 5 Easy Steps by Brenda Watson. As I read this book, it made sense to me. The greatest thing about it was that it is simple to follow. She gives your tips and ideas that are totally do-able. The basic idea is that the less toxins you put in your body the better off you are. If you don't eat totally organic, its ok. If you still use white flour, its ok. But if you make the switch to healthier items and start to change your environment, then you will be better off. The cleanse I picked to do still allows me to eat regular food if I want. But the better you eat, and switch to more healthy options with lots of fiber, then you will have more success on the diet and cleanse.  Essentially, I ate lots and lots of fruit and veggies. Organic brown rice instead of white, and increase the fish and decreased the processed foods. I introduced flax seed meal into my diet as well, mainly in my morning fruit smoothies. The biggest change was the soda. I decided to totally give up all soda and caffeine. This, I thought would be really hard, but is wasn't as bad as I thought.

The herbs for the cleanse, I am taking are from RENEW Life. They have a wide range of products for digestive care, cleansing and detoxing. The are having a sale online right now! renewlife.com . I am doing " first cleanse" I am taking their fiber pills as well as the probiotics.

Another great book I have been reading is Green Up Your Cleanup by Jill Potvin Schoff  . This book is highly recommended for recipes, ideas and guidance on making your home and environment less toxic in your daily life. It seems a little overwhelming at first, but I am taking it day by day with small changes. I am not dumping all my cleaning supplies all at once, but as they run out I am replacing them with more healthy and natural options.
So with the program I did and the changes to my diet, here is what I have observed as changes (good and bad- these are kinda personal - sorry)
* Because I didn't do a full colon cleanse before I started, I got constipated the first 3 days and had to take some laxatives because my gut was so bloated and backed up. I would recommend the colon cleansing diet before you start.
* I had a major breakout of acne about 5 days into it. I expected this, as I read this is very common and a sign that your body is ridding itself of the toxins stored in your cells.
* I was very gassy and bloated, largely due to the high intake of veggies and the extra fiber. 2 weeks into it, this is gone. I think it was just the huge change in diet.
* about day 8 was my Ah-Ha moment. I was life guarding and it was just this realization that my mind is more clear. I have a good feeling and was genuinely feeling happy about nothing and everything. I hadn't felt like that is years. It was awesome.
* I have had NO side effects of caffeine with drawls like I have had every other time I have given up the pop.  This is amazing!!!
* My bowel movements (I know you want to know this) have changed dramatically. They are regular and daily. And much easier. enough said.
* The general wellness and good vibes have continued since day 8. I feel happier with daily life.
* I am sleeping better
* My libido has improved. Woot woot
* My finger nails have shown improvement.
* I haven't been craving sweet and junk like I used to.
* My whole family (who are not veggies lovers) are eating better with me! Little K eats her salad and is willing to try other new veggies, like asparagus.

Now, a lot of the good things could be contributed to the change in diet. Eating all those veggies and fruits and cutting out the crap would make anyone feel better.

Please feel free to ask any questions. I like to share my experiences and reviews of products I have tried.
I am open to suggestions as well. A great friend has sent me some recipes that are wonderful! Thanks Jessica. I am looking forward to continuing the healthy lifestyle we have started this year.
My plan going forward is to continue with the extra fiber, the fish once or twice a week and the fruit and veggies for snacks instead of over processed junk. I will probably cleanse again in 6 months. I am also planning on doing a full candida cleanse next month and will share the results from that too.
I hope each one of you are working on your health goals and find something that works for you! Good luck!

Back! well kinda for now anyway

I haven't blogged in a LONG time. And for this I am sorry. I was waiting for something AMAZING to happen that I had to blog about but nothing that amazing has happened. But I have spent some time the last 2 days reading my old blog posts and realize that it is important to write stuff down and take pictures because I DO FORGET. And even more lately, I have been forgetting things.
Anway- Here is a quick update on the Awesome Eagar Family
Big K is well on his way in the student clinic. I have had a couple of really great adjustments from him. It is so fun to see him be a chiropractor and not just a student, if you know what I mean.
I am still teaching swimming lessons at the YMCA. Love it! and I gave a try to working part time 3rd shift (aka overnight with no sleep at all!). It didn't work out so good. I need to sleep, that is kinda important. I am currently getting ready for my very first yard sale. This has started to consume my life and my thoughts. All I can think about is de-cluttering the house and getting rid of stuff. ugh STUFF. I am really not liking that I have so much stuff.
We had a tornado hit our house in Arizona about 2 weeks ago. That was wild. I am glad I was not there. It has been a bit of a headache, but it could be worse. Some people lost their house and everything. We are pretty lucky really. And my dear sweet 3 year old decided that that day would be a good one to get a hair cut so she did. She cut her pretty curls off. So sad. I cried. But we got it all fixed up into a fun sassy pixie cut.
Little K and I went to my sisters house again. What a blast that was. I love visiting her. we have such a great time with her kids and cute dog. I sadly didnt take many pictures.

Here is the cut After we had it fixed. (and note that she is playing play dough in her PJ's and mixing colors. All signs of a mom who is lightening up a little)
Image
This is her cut. Super cute uni-sided mullet. Awesome. NOT
Image
And her at the salon for kids. she loved it!
Image
Another before shot. Poor kid. Poor mom... I cried
Image
For safety week in our home preschool, we had a police officer come over and meet the kiddos and talk about safety. It was such a blast!
Image
Little K turned 3!!! Here was a couple photos from her party. A cat cake. I really had it figured out that fondant wasn't hard. I mean I watched them do it on cake boss all the time. Well I was wrong. And this is what I able to come up with. she loved it though.

Cute Kitty K, eating her kitty cake.

New fun thing this summer was the spray park. what a fun place to cool off. FUN FUN

Farm week in preschool. We went to a farm and picked raspberries, and played on the playground and went to the petting zoo. Good times

The above picture was taken over the summer in the mountains above Eagar. Every time is see this, I remember that it is why I have agreed to live there. I am so excited to live so close to the mountain where we can make great family memories.

Image
K and I in Nauvoo. Little K took this picture all by herself. she was pretty excited for a chance to use my camera. We went down there for the Pageant. It was amazing.
Image
(not the best photo) But this is K with the pres of his school at his coat ceremony. He wears the dr. coat every time he has to be in the clinic. Wahoo. he is almost done with school.
Image
Dino week in preschool. We went to the museum with a great dino exhibit. I have no idea how I got her to smile. She was scared to death that those dinosaurs where going to come to life and get her.
Image
Bitter sweet photo. Little K and her very missed best friend at the zoo together.  Banana moved to Utah a few months ago and we still miss her (and her sister and mom) very much. I made a joke about needing to move to Utah last week and Little K was ecstatic. She was ready to pack her bags and go live by Banana. Too bad we are still in Iowa another year.
